I am like most others this is a straight out 3 horse race battle, I think having watched many a relegation dogfight the crucial aspect now is who gets the most points at home as I have found in this high pressure spell away points seem harder to come by UNLESS it’s a massive must win relegation 6 pointer in April time which in Carlisle history always seemed to favour the away side.

Morecambe have 10 home games left Carlisle and Tranmere 9, Tranmere have at present scored double the home points or other 2 who have only taken a pathetic 9 home points each.

Tranmere to play: Fleetwood, MK Dons, Accrington, Port Vale, Bromley, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Crewe

Morecambe to play: Accy, Donny, Walsall, Wimbledon, barrow, Swindon, Cheltenham, Carlisle, Salford, Harrogate

Carlisle to play: Colchester, Gillingham, Walsall, Wimbledon, Bromley, mk dons, Newport, port vale, salford

Quite a balanced set for each really could say for Tranmere now is their do or die some good home games
Morecambe have got to play us at our place too. We could have quite a big say, as we play a few of the lower teams. We've also got Harrogate at home, who could conceivably still be in it.

Based on your 2nd half display yesterday at Valley Parade, you will be fine. There is no way are you finishing below Tranny, Morecambe and Carlisle.

Hope we can do you a favour and beat Accrington on Tuesday.
Thanks mate.

It's true we have put together some reasonable performances but we haven't been able to put the ball in the net. The worrying thing is that 7 signings haven't made a difference and no one looks like an obvious candidate to change that. Oli Sanderson is a wage thief, Josh Marsh is hard working but lacks talent and the jury is out on Tom Cursons and Tom Hill.

It feels like whoever goes down is on a knife edge. Barrow seems to be out of it, Gillingham and Accrington have two games in hand over us so could easily pull away with a couple of good results. I think it is any 2 out of 4

I've no idea what Fulham have seen in Sanderson to extend his contract. He always looks like he can't be bothered, maybe he can't at our level, but not the attitude you want when you loan a young player out.

Accrington gave us a tough game on Tuesday and I reckon they will be okay.

It's surely 2 from the 3 of Tranny, Morecambe and Carlisle.

Morecambe showing a bit of fight while the other 2 still can’t buy a win.

Morecambe will stay up imo. They’ll win enough at home.

I’d say Tranmere are likely to join us in the national league, but they have the points on the board to still pull back Harrogate or Accrington so you never know.

Accrington have gone back off the boil after beating Crewe and having a good mini run. Our victory with ten men over them seems to have knocked them back and are right in the battle now.

Tranmere though just don’t seem to be turning around much and Morecambe look like they have life left in them. They get something v Doncaster midweek and it will really cause panic.

Are we all in agreement that it’s Carlisle + 1 other

Some of our fans naively still think there’s hope, despite only picking up a pathetic 4 points out of a possible 27.

I think so unfortunately, as I'd prefer some of the other teams with pathetic support to go down. But you're simply not picking up the odd win here and there.

That yesterday you have to look as such with two Carlisle hats on.

On side of it is a positive, stopped the rot, for once got stronger as game went on than weaker, kept a rare clean sheet, manager tinkered at half time and made changes to make us stronger than having zero outcome as has been for 2 years…….had other side under the cosh at the death for the first time in maybe 2 years.

The other side just says we flogged another home game, lost ground on Morecambe and if not for a wonder save could have lost it again 0-1 because we cannot score.

That is the problem realistically we should be fully on the first point but there now isn’t time if you want survival to think that way.

Carlisle had a pretty bad week, as just 1 point from 2 games leaves them 7 points from safety. You just don't see where the goals are coming from to get them the 2 wins they desperately need. Morecambe pick up a massive win over Accy, but their next 3 home games look brutal, so I'm not sure how many points they'll get in the coming weeks. Still, they are now only 2 points behind Tranmere, so within touching distance of safety.

Tranmere take 2 points from 2 home games, but is it enough? Probably not. Accy are still deep in trouble after 2 defeats and 0 goals scored. Harrogate get a big win at home to Swindon, they aren't clear yet but might just be able to claw their way to safety. Gillingham aren't out of either as their struggles in front of goal continue. Barrow look to have the home form to be safe and Swindon slip back into the bottom 8 as teams catch up to them on games played, but they should be fine also you think.

17th: Swindon, 38 points, GD -2: Chesterfield(H), Morecambe(A), Salford(H), Doncaster(A), Cheltenham(H)
18th: Barrow, 37 points, GD -2: Crewe(A), Carlisle(H), Notts County(A), Accrington(H), Morecambe(A)

24th: Carlisle, 22 points, GD -25: Gillingham(H), Barrow(A), Walsall(H), Harrogate(A), Wimbledon(H)

Forthcoming Fixtures:

Tuesday 18th February
Morecambe
v Doncaster Rovers

Saturday 22nd February
Crewe Alexandra v Barrow
Morecambe
v Walsall
Accrington Stanley v Doncaster Rovers
Bromley v Harrogate Town
Carlisle United
v Gillingham
Notts County v Tranmere Rovers
Swindon Town
v Chesterfield

Some tough games for the strugglers. Hard to see many wins coming for them in these fixtures. Carlisle are approaching last chance saloon you feel, if they can beat an out of form Gills team making a long trip north, then they might have a shot. As for the rest, it could be damage limitation.

Just noticed the first big milestone of the season for Carlisle at the weekend.

Remember that Doncaster team relegated in the 90’s, with owner burning down his ground, having to play youth players and kids all season, directors coming in to fiddle about with the first team and dictate what manager does, club dead on its arse etc etc

Well Carlisle with that point at weekend…..Finally with its endless budget, players on £3-9,000 a week, numerous transfers, a ‘get what you want’ policy etc etc…….we finally became 1 point better than that side

So at least for our money spent we shouldn’t be the worst ever side to play at this level……maybe we should do a cracking too too post to mark the achievement

IF we manage to beat an injury and red card ravaged Crewe today I have absolutely no doubt that Carlisle will kick start their season against us on Thursday

You have to see us to believe how useless we are.

We’ve regressed a lot since our game in August. And we weren’t great that day.

I think today's the day for Carlisle. Gillingham on a dreadful run of form is the chance to get a win which would be 4 from 6 and something of a new manager bounce.
Lose and I can't see morale lifting for the rest of the season to make a fight of it.

There’s nothing in this team. Honestly, nothing.

Not much change at the bottom. Carlisle fail to win another favourable game at home and you feel time is running out on them to get some wins. Morecambe unsurprisingly lose both games against Donny and Walsall. Can they go to Gillingham next week and grab something to overhaul Tranmere? Speaking of Tranmere, they failed to get anything from Notts County but now have a massive home game against Accrington on Tuesday which feels like a must win.

Accy and Harrogate stay in danger after defeats and neither Gillingham nor Barrow are out of it yet. Most shockingly of all though is MK Dons dropping into the bottom 8. After the money they've spent and coming off the previous season, could this be the biggest underperforming season in L2 history? Has to be up there.

17th: MK Dons, 39 points, GD -2: Colchester(H), Accrington(A), Morecambe(H), Port Vale(A), Cheltenham(A)
18th: Barrow, 37 points, GD -5: Carlisle(H), Notts County(A), Accrington(H), Morecambe(A), Wimbledon(A)

20th: Accrington, 30 points, GD -15: Tranmere(A), Harrogate(A), MK Dons(H), Barrow(A), Newport(H)
22nd: Tranmere, 28 points, GD -28: Accrington(H), Port Vale(H), Grimsby(A), Bromley(H), Bradford(A)

23rd: Morecambe, 26 points, GD -24: Gillingham(A), Wimbledon(H), MK Dons(A), Barrow(H), Port Vale(A)
24th: Carlisle, 23 points, GD -25: Barrow(A), Walsall(H), Harrogate(A), Wimbledon(H), Bromley(H)

Forthcoming Fixtures:

Tuesday 25th February
Gillingham
v Fleetwood Town
Tranmere Rovers v Accrington Stanley

Thursday 27th February
Barrow
v Carlisle United

Saturday 1st March
Tranmere Rovers
v Port Vale
Gillingham v Morecambe
Harrogate Town
v Accrington Stanley
Milton Keynes Dons
v Colchester United

Feels like a fairly pivotal week for Gillingham. 4/6 points from 2 winnable home games and they'll be clear of danger you feel. Same goes for Accy, but can they rely on some dreadful away form to do it? Like I said, there are 2 big midweek games at Prenton Park and Holker Street. Lots of relegation 6 pointers coming up in the next few weeks.

There's only one place up for grabs. We've taken hold of one, and we refuse to let it go.

Shambles.
