Is Appleton off?
Doubt it. He's the kind of guy who has a three-year plan, and seems unlikely to jump ship mid season. Since getting his fingers burnt a few times early in his managerial career he's been very choosy about which jobs he takes, and I really don't think he'd walk away from a good one into an unknown one. Plus, we could be there ourselves soon.

First half we were the better side, in the second Rochdale shaded it. We simply could not break down Rochdale’s defensive lines, and as the game went on we became clueless. The basic touch of our players was very poor, too many simple passes were missed or the receiver fluffed it. An off-day but still not defeated this year. Stiff tasks await us Tuesday and Saturday.

Yeah. But without one of the UK’s richest men as owner.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

We've been here before with DC/NC so if he goes he goes, if he stays then great. He's been a big hit and if I were a Championship chairman then Appleton would be my number 1 choice.

We're pretty well set behind the scenes with a thorough infrastructure and I'd be confident that if we did need to recruit we'll get the right man.

1-1 in a pretty dull game at Accrington for Shrewsbury that will soon be forgotten. The wind certainly didn't help.

Is John Coleman always so salty when Accrington don't win? His post match interview would have you believe that we robbed them, saying their keeper had nothing to do. He actually made the only save in the game. Accrington scored with their first and only shot on target. Their commentary team were more than fair in saying a point was the least we deserved. He was the same when we came back from 2-0 to win last season.

Yup, Coleman is a very bitter man, up there with Evans. Like a 4 year-old.

Always, he's a great manager but when Accrington don't win his post match comments are bloody childish.

Don't think Appleton is going, more likely in the summer.
Danny Cowley was biting people's heads off in the final interviews, MA is long way off that yet, you can normally tell when a manager is about to jump ship.
He's just sign 2/3 players to join us on long term deals and Jorge Grant to extend his contract as well, the Cowleys signed some right rubbish on loan just before they left, left us right in it.

So, Lambert is gone - not quite yet - but gone all the same. Had talks with Evans yesterday over severance. They meet next week again to resolve in full.

Paul Cook, Danny Cowley, Nigel Pearson and Neil Harris all in the picture.

Would take any of of those barring Cowley. Would be really disappointed if they got the nod.
Why not Cowley?
We direct at times under but we played much more football as he developed the side.
By far our most successful manager with 50%odd win rate and 3 trophies in 3 seasons and crowds going from 2500 to 9000.
Cook may well go to Bristol
DC and NC will definitely shake you and sort you and stop you feeling sorry yourselves and thinking you should be what you were.

From the Madron header? Yeah i had already accepted it was 2-0 and couldn't believe he had saved it.

This isn't going to make it any easier to accept but Crewe are such a great side to watch. Was it Kirk that has been sold and you have back for the season on loan? He's always brilliant whenever we play you. (He was up against Caddis though who got murdered in the game at Gresty Road.
No that’s his left sided buddy Pickering who’s been sold to Blackburn but he’s back on loan. Unless he’s got a ridiculous buy out clause like Pickering and Ng it will take good money for us to part with him. I hope.

infact I felt sorry for Kirk, he had a very good game on set up numerous chances. You could see how frustrated he was at full time by the way he just lay on his back in the middle of the pitch.

Somehow 0-0 at home again Oxford is a good result. Standards have slipped massively. We defended well but Nsiala is woeful. Under a new manager we might have some confidence to snatch 3 points. Good away point for Oxford, look more of a bet for top 6 than us.

Nsiala had a great game, Unfortunately, that's not how he usually plays!

First half we looked as we have for the last 3 games, couldn’t defend especially crosses. Second half we looked like the team that started the 20 game unbeaten run hopefully we’ve turned a corner. Usual hopeless ref, should have had 2 more penalties but apparently batting the ball away with your hand in the area is no longer a handball offence.

Yes, we played them recently in poor weather and pitch conditions at their gaff. His comments after we won suggested he and I did not watch the same game. No class.

Good appointment, that. Not that it really matters, but the 2 Bristol clubs have a right couple of dicks in charge - Rovers a bit more so.

If City can’t progress with Pearson they might as well give up.

As we kept saying, we weren't worried.

Nigel Pearson and Joey Barton are going to be starring in a sitcom where they share a Bristol harbourside flat and get into fights about girls and who puts the bin out. It'll be like Men Behaving Badly, but with added cigars.

Definitely, the fourth was a ref mistake, and did think it was ironic that 'ball-playing' Milton Keynes got the third with a long lump up the field. Glad to score a goal, wish more than 1 had come from open play, but still some shoots of recovering. Really stuck on whether to stick or twist with Brady, miles better football but still only 1 point from 3 games. Next two games against other relegation battlers probably decider.
“Long lump” I take it you’ve not seen Ben Gladwin before? He’s got an incredible range of passing for this level.
I agree we got lucky with the fourth, but taking advantage of officials sloppiness where you can is part and parcel. Too many times we legitimately try to take a quick free kick and get pulled back for it, so nice to have one go in our favour for once,

Overall, you looked a far better side than the one we’ve faced previously this season. You’ll pick up points pretty soon, I’m sure. We weren’t very good on the day, but that shouldn‘t take from your performance.

Long passes can still be quality, but it was definitely one large punt up the field! That said, if you play poorly and win then that is a good sign for MK, and you do have one of the major things we're missing, which is the ability to put away chances or even half chances.

You did score 3 though, that's a good start!

Miles, miles better than it has been. We played well against Ipswich to, just lacking cutting edge. Unfortunately, it leaves us with almost zero leway going into the next two, with anything other than wins threatening to cut us a drift, but that's probably the same for your side coming into it as well. If Brady get's results he'll be made permanent I think, and fairly deserve it. We seem to be eyeing up almost entirely non-league options as alternatives, Sutton, Aldershot and Oxford City bosses have all been linked, so trying to avoid the journeyman manager for the next year whatever happens.

The game on Saturday is absolutely cruicial. After our smash and grab win on Saturday I suspect we'll see not losing as some kind of success although a win would be absolutely massive.

Yeah, that one - it was already behind him when he got a hand to it. Someone else has already answered about Kirk although I think he probably will leave in the summer. We are a good team to watch and this season has been a bit funny as I'm sure most Crewe fans would have been perfectly happy with a midtable finish at the start of the season but we've lost far too many games we've dominated. For all the good play on Saturday, we didn't work the keeper anything like enough so we've only got ourselves to blame...

It says it all that there is no real anger or frustration, just acceptance. It’s happened far too many times this season for it to be a surprise. This is what happens when you have no goal scorers (well we do have one but he’s now 37 and can’t move, unfortunately). For all Mandron’s quality, and some of his play is most certainly quality at this level, he’s NEVER going to be a goal scorer. A 30 second scan of his wiki page when we signed him told me that.

Edit. We have 2 goal scorers actually. Unfortunately the other one is a midfielder and also has a broken leg.

The saying 'you have to be in the positions to miss' is a bit of a cliche, but his movement is very good, your goal for example was excellent running in behind and putting it on a plate. But yes, you can't legislate for 2 absolute sitters as well as other chances that a confident potent striker would have buried.
