Grimsby should also try doing their new tactic that Hurst came up with by scoring early in the first-half. They were doing it really well earlier in the season. I don't know why Hurst stopped telling them to do it. It was genius the way he came up with it this season.
He didn't want us to be too predictable!

Yes I can see where're you're coming from. Usually, I want the away game first, just like all footy fans do, but in this case I think playing Dover at home first will prove to be a good thing (if you go on and get the win obviously). I reckon even a narrow 1-0 win will set you lot up nicely for the second leg. Just a gut feeling I guess.
Yeah to be honest i would usually feel like that myself, as i did before our play offs v Newport and Gateshead, our away form was so good i was very happy to go away second and ultra confident both times.
I guess it's because of how those 2 ties ended up why i now feel pesimistic about doing the away leg second.
Happy to be proved wrong though if we do not finish 3rd. :)

Well, were safe now... only let grimsby back in the game by taking alalbi off for the terrible hobson. The fish and chip were good to. No wooden fork at the marriner, only plastic ones... terrible. No banana sauce available either

Unable to get to Blundell Park today, but heard Jon McCarthy on Dee 106 on way home from a meeting I had to go to. He said we were the better team and thoroughly deserved the win. He explained how he'd gone to see to see the Cods in midweek and formulated a strategy which has worked to a tee. Even more evidence of what a dud Burr was. I'm 95% convinced that Macca and Ian Sharps are the duo to improve on this season. What the fuck were you doing to my team you excuse laiden fraud Burr.

Well that was terrible. But agree with the post above, I don't think form means much going into the playoffs. There cup final games, it's a lottery.
How is playing three football matches analogous to a lottery? Are you going to sit down in the dugouts and draw a few random numbers rather than actually play the games?

Massive congratulations to Braintree by the way on being just a point away from a play off spot.
I'm sure i'm not the only one who looked at their run in of FGR Gateshead Grimsby and Wrexham and thought 'not a prayer'.
Superb effort. :hail:

Summed our season perfectly, created plenty of chances that kept falling to Howe who very wasteful and caught on the break due to our painfully slow backline.
What on earth happened between Wood and Carr, did Carr bite him?
Thought the Woking keeper carried the ball over the line...
O well onto next season and new manager for a change.

'Lottery' isn't the correct description but it's easy to see why fans say it when thinking about the po's.

Just one recent example - Gateshead vs Grimsby 2014. Bad luck, poor decisions by the ref, play acting and so on.

Bet Torquay will be delighted to see Cox back, after he blew all their budget without leaving any contingency and left them on the verge of relegation, before their amazing escape.
Red carpet for him I would guess......
Is that his blood?

Railway blue you missed one of our better games today... macca's selection have been better also. Burr always playing 451 wasnt good. 442 has worked better with rooney on the left... burr was always trying to build around rooney in his preferred position behind the striker.

That's too good from Braintree. Having the balls to come from 1-2 down at the Racecourse, play-offs on the line....Cowley is manager of the season.

Ridiculously they looked like a Conference South side twice against us.
Just like you looked like Relegation fodder every time you played Welling.

After today I would like to rescind all my hateful words towards Forest Green, and if possible, everyone else's on this forum, too. I love Forest Green Rovers, I want them to go up and I want to have their babies.

Watched the win come through while walking over the crags. Me and my father were understandably screaming when we saw the Shaq goal appear on Twitter, and a farmer came over to ask what the matter was. Had spent the start of the walk explaining how I'd spent the last two weeks mentally bracing myself for Conference North football, while my father had his mind set on staying up and wasn't contemplating the threat. I said we were 80/20 down after Tuesday, he sez we're now 50/50 on, but I would've taken that on 21st November.

It's in our hands for the 94th time...

Well that's our season finally over.

Braintree always beat us to be fair so we should have expected that. Braintree to win the play offs.

Realistically, are Guiseley or Alty going to get a result? I genuinely think you could even lose and you'd still stay up. 80/20 in your favour now, no doubts.

Some very, very quiet FGR fans I sense...maybe they're regretting their downright arrogance on here they've displayed all season (with an exception of one poster).

Well if the FGR lottery is anything like their matchday raffle then it'll be a guaranteed home win.

Welling, as you might expect, rolled over today. A 5-0 win would normally be something to shout about, but Halifax put paid to that. Balls arse shite.

Maybe lottery was the wrong word to use. I just don't think these games are comparable to a play off atmosphere. Sure it would help to go into them with a bit of form, but I don't necessarily think it's over for us and Grimsby because we've not got the results recently.

I think we'll end up playing Grimsby looking at the table and the fixtures. FairPlay to Braintree and Dover.

Also well done to Halifax. Thought you were by far the better team today. They showed more passion and spirit than us and deserved the 3 points.

Yep, fair play to Halifax. Weren't any great shakes and can see why you've struggled but you had a plan and intent which was more than we managed. Pennock tinkering with the team again to no great effect, exceptmaybe to leave players even more demoralised going into the playoffs. You can't fancy our chances in them on this form. Hope Wedgebury is all right, he was on gas and air on that stretcher. The Halifax lad was at least looking more compus mentus so hopefully his injury wasn't serious.
