On a serious note though, I do sympathise with men today. 14 year old girls look a lot older than they actually are, all it takes is a fake ID to get into a club and you'd just assume she's legal.

I'd say 16 year olds can look over 18, but 14 is pushing it.

The age of consent is 16 though. In some countries like France and Germany this wouldn't actually be a crime*.
I want to know the whole story before I pass judgement.

Maybe I'm a bit naive but looking at some of the comments on Twitter you'd think he was proven guilty. Seems that all it takes is an accusation these days.

I still find it more egregious that his name is released before anything is proven. No matter if he is proven innocent, statutory rape will follow him for the rest of his life. It's particularly tough for people with such a high profile to get rid of false claims. Release it when he's proven guilty.

As long as there is the Internet, there will always be a disconnect between people writing the jokes and the gravity of whatever crime has been committed.

Never understood that, cases can still take place while a person is serving time is prison already. You can just add more time on to his/hers sentence.

Doesn't mean his career is over. He'll have to take some abuse from opposing fans and that but no one is going to refuse to employ someone who is innocent. Ched Evans was subject to the public outcry and had to find a club after being in jail, but if Johnson isn't convicted of anything he'll stay and Sunderland and this will be forgotten before too long.

I don't understand what you mean. They would use the other victims testimony to build a stronger case is the first place. Many victims would never come forward otherwise.
