Grooming seems a weird, and a fine-line, interpretation of behaviours. I haven't lived in the UK in a long time; can one be charged with this if no sexual misconduct or abuse ensues? Can there be an isolated grooming charge?

Either way, I need to rethink taking my puppy to the clinic for a grooming this weekend.

Grooming is the arranging of an meeting with a child with the intent of sexually abusing them. So their doesn't have to be any actual abuse just arranging the meeting. The meeting also doesn't actually have to take place, the arranging of it is enough.

I've always been a little uncomfortable about the fact that we announce the names of people accused of rape/paedophilia before they are found guilty. I understand that it can be useful in bringing others forward, but it also attaches an unavoidable stigma to the accused even if they are found to be innocent.

As a side note the Danish movie Jagten explores this problem quite well. I recommend.
