Continual turnover of managers is the right approach to any successful football club if you ask me.

I know the solution to this problem. Get rid of Bruno and replace him with a guy who would be debuting as a professional manager because Vale fans are more than willing to give new young managers a chance to settle in aren't they?

What would you suggest to stop this slide?

Are you the same valefan16 who was recently saying that 'plan b' was unneccesary because we had a good youthful side (average age below 23 or something like that)? So plan b isn't necessary but sacking the manager is even though gaining success from a young side is not going to happen overnight?

Or is it just the usual bullshit that when we win everything is ok but when we lose the manager should be sacked?

As I keep saying, we are a mid-table L1 club and even though we have slipped slightly below that this season it is where we will finish this season whether we sack the manager or not.

Without some serious bankrolling (I am talking someone with a lot of money to spare, not Smurf's sweet jar stuffed with coppers) that is all Port Vale will ever be

Signing loads more players to this squad won't help, we have some decent players but they are being used appallingly!

Everyone even Bruno knew how bad we were marking zonally last week. Today we play a side known for direct, physical football and he changes nothing to combat that! Haven't seen the goals yet but know one was a corner, another was Robertson (yes that excuse of a footballer who even Page flogged when he offered new deals to everyone else!) and we learn nothing.

One up front doesn't suit us... he's played it all season! Learns nothing.

We've been gash away from home... changes nothing... learns nothing.

We've been hammered five or six times in games where we've been half arsed (Browns interview tonight suggests half our lads just didn't fancy it again today)

Wimbledon, Bolton, Sheffield United, Bury, Coventry fiascos this season all of which were worse than anything we've seen since the Glover days... do I go on?

How can Bruno stay after this? How can you defend that? We've won 1 league game in 10 (got battered in that to be fair too!) it can't go on or we will go down.

Bring in Adams or some experience until May to get us doing the basics and work it from there.

Not denying we at our level are mid table league one... I'd take that this season the issue is we won't finish there this season under Bruno... look at the form! 1 win in 10 and no sign of a turnaround in form.

We will win our next game and everything will be rosy, that's what Vale fans are like.

I'd love to see who is on our shortlist for next manager this time around. Bet it's not half as interesting as the last one

We played very well but Port Vale are comfortably the worst team I've seen this season. Thought we might win but the second half was a procession
Every team we have faced this season has pretty much said we are the worst team we have faced.

Only positive is that Grants ban is over and Purkiss and Jerome Thomas should be back next week... other than Purkiss I can't see the other two struggling to walk back in the side and will improve us massively.

Knowing Bruno (if he somehow survives) Grant will be in goal, Purkiss up front and Jerome at centre half.

Getting beat 4-0 by a club that has never finished higher than us and only three times been at the same level is hardly what we should be aiming for... but you should expect to beat us... as would Kingstonian at the moment.

You got beaten by a team that's 9th in the league, gets larger home crowds and is on an upward charge. There's worse things to aspire to when you've been a nothing club for 20 years. With all due respect.

Don't get uptight about it. Some of our fans see all of our empty seats at Vale Park and our time punching above our weight in the late 90s as a sign that we must be massive and therefore walking over most teams in this division

Sorry pal... should be delighted to lose to you 4-0... :ffs: it's embarrassing, it's bad enough to be hit for 4 by Sheffield United but they have the budget etc so meh... but for Port Vale today this is an embarrassment the same as it would be for you if you lost to a mid table side 4-0, losing to anyone in a league game 4-0 especially in the manner we have today is shocking.

In fairness the fact your getting bigger crowds than us at the moment shows how bad things are from our POV to be struggling to get 4000 through the gates at the moment and another reason Bruno has to go.

You didn't exist 20 years ago so what's your point? Whilst we've had a meh 20 years, four of those were in the Championship, won one automatic promotion and an LDV, you've had a great story but to call us a nothing club when you've spent most of that 20 years beating the Dog and Duck FC is a bit short sighted, maybe with finance and infrastructure you'll have a better next 20 years than us but we've been a FL club for those 20 years.

What is we have is momentum, team spirit and a manager that does wonders with our relatively small budget. We also have the advantage of being in control of our own destiny being supporter owned.

I'll not apologise for being non-league upstarts, it's just history repeating itself (although I very much doubt that we'll hit the top fight this time).

As I said it's been a fairytale and deserved rise for the fans of a club that was murdered by the creation of MK.

Fuck me, there must be a dozen clubs in this league, us included, who face the exact same scenario - it's what middling L1 clubs have always been like. Years and years of turgid shit, crap managers, grasping owners and under-investment, interspersed with odd spells of success, then back to the crap again.

A very lucky few manage to build on their rare successes and cement themselves higher up the food chain, but look at the clubs in L1 and L2 and, historically, it's where most belong.

Vale aint no different

We get bigger crowds than wimbledon in the last 25 years are average has varied from 4400 to 9000. We usually average 5000 though and the wimbledon that was formed in 2002 dont even have a ground that holds 5000. As foor the vale squad we could get rid of a number of them like johnson boot shalaj fergusson patterson lloyd without it affecting us too much as they are either not good enough or wont play. If purkiss and grant arnt happy here is also let them go. We have some good young players in gibbons smith and turner so we might aswell play all 3 instead of just smith as they cant do any worse than whats out there at the moment.

Can we stop saying how big Port Vale are after a 4-0 loss? Jesus, you're acting worse than Mansfield fans.

When you get spanked you don't answer back, you say "Thankyou Sir." and crawl off.

As far as the game goes I'm disappointed we didn't score more, without your goalkeeper captain who should be playing at a higher level we would have had atleast 6.

Until you get a new manager who doesn't have you play with two defenders back at goalkicks. Get a new striker who isn't a man mountain that prefers to roll around on the floor rather than play football. Aswell as a whole new defence that can actually mark in the box then you'll be challenging Bury for the worst team in the division.

Vale have been around this level for years, a poor season now n again is par for the course at our level. Wimbledon are currently riding a crest of a wave from your rise and fair play, although once that ends i expect you to drop bk behind Vale in the food chain probably about mid table L2 while Vale will continue to bob around mid table L1.

We are worse than bury as they beat us 4 1 and also mansfield 1 nil aswell. I generally dont think theres a team worse than us away from home in the football league. I refuse to watch us away from home again this season. Apart from huddesfield away in the fa cup we wont take more than 500 to any remaining away game.as far as im concerned as soon as they bolt the gates up on the place or knock the place down it will do the lot of us a big favour of wasting alot of time and money.

I see your point but with the new ground coming etc we will end up a mid table league 1 side not 2 eventually.

Actually got a very soft spot for Vale. First game I ever saw was at Vale Park at home to Villa aged six on a visit to my granny in Burslem and you produced the deity known as Robbie Earle. It is funny though to hear how disgraceful it is to lose to Wimbledon in identical terms to what was said 30 years ago.

Oddly our centre half is potentially going to be sold next month for a large fee. Problem isn't the defenders themselves it's the system. Zonal marking failed last week so clueless Bruno does the same against one of the most direct and tallest teams in the league.

Our striker is a cult hero at the moment but has been doing well just has zero support away from home... our top scorer meanwhile played yesterday... quality hit man and arguably one of the best in the league..... he was stuck out on the wing!

Away from home we are the worst easily (6 points), what's currently and maybe will save us is that at home we are on of the better sides (21 points)...

Hold in league one till the new stadium, then push onto Championship. Could easily happen, and I think it will.

1 win 3 draw 7 defeats and just 5 goals in the league away from home. In all competitions its 1 win 4 draws and 8 defeats away from home with just 6 goals. Its just not good enough been going on for months now and nothing has changed just gets worse and worse. Our home form aint been that good of late as remember we won our first 5 home games this season 1 was a cup match though.
