I think most training pitches are on private locations...we aren't talking old days where the players literally trained on public parks...and most of the things you list as obstacles will be present at even the most modest of training grounds. I'm pretty sure that ours has most of them. OK, so few will have anything to the standard of St George's Park, which has been a suggestion for playing Premier League games. A little lateral thinking, or use of neutral venues where behind closed doors would actually mean that, might make this a goer.

Maybe the case for moneybags FGR but our training pitches are just that, pitches with nothing else. They're close enough to the stadium and the indoor facilities for the players to use the those during training but probably not close enough to meet league criteria for a match when there's a 200 yard or so walk that involves going up and over the flood defences between the stadium and the training pitches. I'm assuming most clubs at this level have similar to us.

We train on some council owned pitches at Stanley Park in Chippenham.

But when you get the hoof merchants - I’m looking at you Cobblers! - the ball will be disappearing into people’s back garden.

I can just see Curle now. ‘Please, mister. Can we have our ball back?’

Does make me laugh how some Notts fans think they should be awarded league status for next season purely because they finished 23rd last season and Bury were expelled.

I'd rather award successful teams that right even if they haven't mathematically secured league status than one that failed and got themselves into a non league mess on the pitch in the first place.

Therefore Mansfield should be promoted because they were the next taxi on the rank when Bury went up...

Some Notts fans and reality usually don’t tend to match up so well! They were the worlds oldest league club you know

There was an almighty scramble for our old First Division promotion slot when we were slung out. They ended up giving it to Sunderland who we totally annihilated at Wembley in the play off final. The most one sided 1-0 win ever. We could have had 10.

Ossie Ardiles didn’t deserve that.

Saw a video recently of Ron Atkinson going berserk because Sheffield Wednesday were relegated that year. If I'm right it was a massive argument between them, Sunderland and Newcastle (who were the highest ranked league side)? Think Tranmere wanted your Second Division spot too when you were initially relegated to the Third Division.

Sunderland only lasted a season, I always wonder what would've happened if Swindon played in the first division that year. I reckon it'd have been more successful than the 93-94 season for sure.

Hardly be worse, tbh!

Saying that, there have been plenty worse than us in the PL.

Derby and Sunderland off the top of my head.

You could argue Sunderland are responsible for three of the Top 10 worst PL seasons of all time.

Derby, Villa, Watford under Boothroyd, Portsmouth, Huddersfield, Fulham last season and Reading under McDermott would be the others I'd say off the top of my head.

Didn't Swindon score a few but certainly couldn't keep it tight at the back?

We actually got less points under Graham Taylor in our first season in the Premier league but think the Boothroyd season felt worse because of the football and we lost our only decent striker in Marlon King early and Ashley Young was sold.

I'm sure that season with Boothroyd you didn't win a league game until the start of November? My memory of 99-2000 is less clearer. But on both occasions, the squads weren't expected to even go up to the PL let alone hold their own there!

We were the only team to put 4 past Man Utd over the 2 games when they were in their pomp.

Letting in 100 was the problem!

That is true. on all account!

Under GT we had a double promotion from League One as is it now to the Premier league (did beat Liverpool and Chelsea though) and the Boothroyd season was after a promotion season when we were relegation favourites.

Beat Leeds in the Play-off final at Cardiff.

We seemed to draw a lot early on but as I say lost King and Young was sold so ended up with Darius Henderson and Will Hoskins up front!

Mind you we didn't lose 8-0 like this season..

And was he?

I am sure he went on to Birmingham later on. or was that after his 3rd spell in jail?

Always remember him going to the nick for handling a stolen beamer at Gillingham in the old Division One days.

Then the sexual assault incident at Wigan.

One of his final games in pro football was for Sheffield United against us in 2013, within a couple of months he was behind bars again for dangerous driving. Think he caused a multi-car pile up eating ice cream at the wheel of his car from what I remember.

I believe he's now emigrated with his family to somewhere in Africa since his release from what I read a few years back.

Stoke were the worst in the old 42 game top flight in the 80s. Think it was 17 points and it was 3 points for a win too. Back in non-PC times our local media described that season as a "holocaust season" for Stoke.

Derby comfortably the worst of all time. Interestingly they drew on opening day and had won a game by the 5th game of the season. Unfortunately that was the only one they'd win all campaign...

I've done my best to forget ours but I still wake up every day raging about how this season has panned out. Wankers

I'm the complete opposite for obvious reasons - this season has seen the most entertaining, expressive football i have ever seen from a Barrow team (or any team infact) at this level - opposing fans who haven't seen us laugh off the "Barracelona" tag we've had this season - but football has been a joy to watch - even in the 1st 9 games where we only got 7 points.
One of either 2 things will happen now - either 1) we'll be in the same League as Carlisle next season or 2) In the same boat as them with this season written off as the season that never was... hopefully the 1st option.

Had all this not happened I think it’s fair to say this season would never have been spoken about again
