I can't imagine how boring it must be to support a club that isn't as batshit as we are.

Strange game that. One of our biggest defeats of the season but still didn't feel as bad as some of our pre-Lincoln losses. We can now put out a decent starting 11 but tonight showed we've got little strength in depth and while our centre back pairing have impressed they're also young and inexperienced. We've given ourselves a fighting chance of staying up during February when most people had written us off but clearly a long way to go yet.

Matt had the best individual performance I've seen at Meadow Lane for quite a long time. Superb player.

Props to Newport really, never a 1-4 game overall but they’re really bloody good at what they do and were ruthless in front of goal. Matt was as good as I’ve seen from an opposition player all season.

Big learning curve for our young centre backs but they won’t come up against that every week, and everywhere else on the pitch we did okay.

Great result that and called it completely wrong. With everyone fit we have a strong XI and will give anyone a game as the cup run proved. No more resting players between cup games so should see our league results improve, tonight was the first league away win since September.
Lost 4-1 at home to the best team in the land one week, followed 3 days later by a 4-1 away win at the team propping up the 92. Has a certain symmetry about it.
On to MK this Sat, need revenge for last week’s result.

Well that went well. Clearly after the Lord Mayors show we decided to have another massive party complete with drugs, prostitutes and dwarves.

Only Notts could get 7 points from three top sides and then get tonked by 16th place Newport. They were good to be fair, the two up front had far too much for our inexperienced centre halves and keeper. No CMS or Stead also meant we couldn’t hold the ball up and get the midfield involved.

But the big question is; How fucking bad must Mansfield be??

Probably more down to the fact that your players weren't motivated enough to play against a side that was 16th. Its easy to up your game against teams that are good.

It wasn't that, I wouldn't say there was a lack of motivation. We rested Stead and CMS (which was probably necessary) and as a result looked pretty disjointed and static up front. Then as said above, Matt put in one of the best striker performances seen at the Lane this year (in fact probably since Stockley for Exeter 14 months or so ago). Him and Amond are a cracking partnership at this level. Elsewhere they harried and pressed us well too - and I was expecting them to be leggy after their recent cup exploits and playing two games a week for a while. Only one of our lot who I thought had a pretty good game was Jim O'Brien, who constantly wanted to be on the ball and was always looking to do something with it.

Hopefully a blip, and on to Tranmere.

I don't think we were complacent, we rested key men because they're old and the cover wasn't up to it. Allessandra who I like was terrible.

Jamille Matt pulled us to bits as he did off the bench for Grimsby last season.
Personally I've big doubts about the keeper, the defence don't trust him, won't pass it back to him and he's utterly rooted to his line.
I think Fitz deserves a go with a decent defence in front of him.

It's easy to up your game against teams that are your local rivals (relatively speaking).

Interesting point. Chesterfield destroyed Notts Co last season... played us 5 days later with us a man down before half time and looked dire as we beat them.

You’d think wouldn’t you but until last Saturday that was sadly not the case . We hardly ever looked up for it , weirdly this time Mansfield took that role well and truly

No rhyme no reason
