Phil Simms is a force of nature. 3 hours of verbal effluent flowing out of his yap in volumes that'd make the Amazon delta jealous.

When I ordered Chiefs vs Lions tickets in January, it was looking like two potential playoffs teams with some of the most exciting players in the NFL. Charles won't be there (as Megatron wasn't last year), Calvin Johnson isn't Megatron any more, the Lions offence is turgid and neither teams have a prayer of making the playoffs. Great.

How bad have the 9.25 kickoffs been this year? Yeeeesh.

Kyle Shanahan is a wizard, he's turned a 3 YPC back into LaDainian Tomlinson. Charles Woodson's second INT was a thing of beauty. Todd Gurley is ridiculous.

Yeah, the late slot is turning into a bit of a house of horrors innit. I know it's a ratings thing to have these exclusive windows, but it'd be a lot better for the coach potatoes to push at least a couple of the early kick offs back.

Seems like people will watch anything if it's got an NFL logo on it, but surely people were turning off in droves half way thru the 3rd Q of that shitshow.

Ze hell is going on at Seattle? Not the side we all know and know, so far.

I really need to start picking Tyrod. Bills win 13-14 ( :bdick:) and he's still outscoring Matt Ryan. Wouldn't have mattered this week, mind. Jimbob battered me.

With Frank Gore!

Trade him Jim! Offer him to the whole league!

Really don't know what's happened with that Offense in Detroit, running game is clearly not up to much but there are some explosive playmakers there. Really undersold themselves so far this year.

Meanwhile Peyton Manning throws a 2nd pick against the Raiders. Hard to believe Denver will probably end up 5-0 at the end of today and it's very little to do with Peyton.

Yesterday was the most depressed I've come away from watching a Lions game in a long, long time. I can't even remember a game from the 0-16 season being that bad- back then at least you knew the team was horrendously poor!
The O is a complete mess, but I think more than the players it's still the scheme that is more to blame. Last couple of weeks they haven't looked bothered unless the game was close. Same thing happened again yesterday as soon as the Cards got a lead no one looked like they cared. The O-Line (which was decent last season and hasn't changed much this) can't be bothered to block, Stafford can't be bothered to even look where he's throwing and when Golden Tate starts not being bothered about catching technique you know you're in trouble. They don't even just throw it up to Megatron anymore!
I just really think they don't want to play for Lombardi or his vanilla play calling. The running game is only an issue because it is used so poorly and so little, Lombardi's constant obsession with short up the gut is painful to watch. I could tell you now what he'll call if the game started in 5 minutes.
1st down - RB up the gut (even though the O-Line can't block for shit and both RBs look superb running out off tackles) 2nd down - Stafford will try and throw it 20 yards + 3rd down - some kind of screen/short passing (most likely Stafford sacked or throwing it away).. repeat repeat repeat....

It's the D I feel sorry for - team gave up 42 points yesterday and none of them are on the D - literally down to 3rd and 4th string at a majority of positions and they are still playing hard and well. Every turnover put the Cards in at least FG range, the times they actually had to start from in their own half they ended up punting every time - the D must wish they just played the whole game - can't be any worse than the lot on the other side of the ball.

The first thing that needs to change is Lombardi, either he should go or change the plays, especially for Stafford - he isn't a game manager which is what they are trying to make him, he is a Favre type gunslinger, yes he will throw INTs but he will also throw loads of TDs, it's no surprise he looks much more comfortable in the high tempo 2 minute drill.
Time to tank the season and get in the top portion of the draft, or possibly #1 the way things are going! if that happens expect some trading.

Nightmare season. Gone from high pre-season confidence to hoping we'll limp into the playoffs to knowing we haven't got a chance and may even finish bottom of the AFC West over the course of just five games. Plus I'm obviously gutted for Charles.

Getting into the college game has been the only positive so far for me.

some quotes from James Ihedigbo re the O: "you can't play like that. Since I've been in the NFL it's the worst football I've seen, let alone being part of it". I hope someone at Detroit News told him he wasn't part of it he just happens to be tainted by association on this occasion.

You wouldn't know this was a road game for Pittsburgh tonight. Qualcomm sounding like Heinz Field.

Can someone explain to me how there were so many Steelers fans at San Diego given the distance between the two? Don't seen I've seen such a big away support before.

Think there's a few things in play, firstly Steelers are one of if not the the most widely supported teams in America. Also San Diego is a really nice place to go to so many will have taken the opportunity of a long weekend there.

In addition to that the Chargers home games often have a large visiting contingent in general, the Pats had similar on SNF last year. Not sure whether it's because of their fans being unhappy with ownership or the general direction of the team but they rarely sell out. May be also be because of the constant rumours of a move to LA.

Chargers have rarely sold out in their history. It's one of the main reasons they are always touted about for moving, they would probably struggle to fill a stadium half the size of Qualcomm. They are always in the lead for local TV blackouts, I mean even in the Lions 0-16 season the Chargers managed to get more TV blackouts than the Lions - and they had a good team. I have no idea why they struggle to attract fans. The only other major league team in the city is the Padres, not sure what attendances they manage.

Kieran, I eyed up Christine Michael last night and this morning, but didn't want to ditch any of my other players and was hoping to wait for when I have two free roster spots tomorrow morning. Ah well :)

Does anyone want to trade for Peyton? Knowing my luck he'll start putting up big numbers the moment I'll get rid of him..

Offered the same player in two separate trades just now. Assuming if one is accepted it'll delete the other pending trade?

Makes us even then Jimbob for you nabbing Charcandrick West on the waivers ahead of me :p

To be honest its a speculative add based on rumours on Twitter but I always like to have one roster spot for that sort of player.

Gus Malzahn is not wearing a visor on the sideline of tonight's game out of respect for Steve Spurrier.

Loving this start from the Saints, where's this team been all year?

Nice to see them show a bit of fire.

They've been waiting for that to happen ever since Gleason was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.

Saints have looked every bit what their record suggests on D in the second quarter and yet the Falcons have somehow conspired to keep fucking things up in the red zone. Am finding this game rather entertaining at least.

Yeah same here, I try to do exactly the same. Double-downed with Knile Davis also to see which one gets the most action, added Bradshaw too. Likely to drop two of those next week.

First league trade completed - looks lopsided right now, but it should balance out following an agreement in a couple of weeks or so.

Offered a player in three trades in prep for the bye week, too many Packers now!
