Maybe so and don't disagree on their relative abilities (or lack of) but when you're the head coach it's the most important decision you will have to make. The way he has done a form of QB musical chairs instead inspires absolutely no confidence. In retrospect they maybe shouldn't have traded Fitz to the Jets.

Far from the only issue that team has, first real time I've watched them fully this year and granted I know he is coming off an injury but man does Clowney really suck. Not sure if it's scheme or anything like that but he is increasingly entering bust territory.

Picking one for the sake of picking one doesn't fix anything though does it. It makes for good GRRR! STRONG LEADER! DECISIVE!! stuff on the pre-game shows but it doesn't make either of them any good. I think Cleveland would be better off keeping Manziel in the mix as opposed to going all in on known mediocrity McCown for eg (not entirely analogous, I know).

O'Brien might up end up carrying the can, but it's a grocery buying problem rather than a meal cooking one, I reckons.

I agree with Keiran to an extent, before the season started O'Brien was saying how we need to show everyone that we have two QBs that can play etc. The fact that he keeps chopping and changing would suggest that he doesn't really believe that himself, he knows they're both rubbish, so just stick with one and hope they improve after a run of games with the team.

Agree about Clowney too, I've been watching and waiting for him to make a play from week one and have seen zilch so far. It's painful to say this but JJ needs/deserves to go elsewhere and achieve something, it's become quite clear that this team is far too poor for even him to carry.

O'Brien is in a difficult place though, the only way to get a decent QB is to trade for one or bottom out the season and get in the top 3 of the draft. The draft of course is no gimme. With where the Texans are likely to land in the draft I'd say the team needs some identity - ala Seattle, to then pick a QB that might be a bit off the radar but fits the system they want to play - oh and then actually stick with them. Currently though I see no harm in chopping and changing, what are Houston expecting this season, surely not better than 8-8?

If I were currently at the Texans though I'd be going trade route and I'd be going straight to Chicago, not only to get Cutler but also Forte. Cutler may have some character issues but he is also a middle ranking QB, you know what you are getting, and sometimes he can actually be quite talented. Bears seem to want to clear house and I think would offer people out pretty cheap.

No Perkins, no Johnson. Gonna be another long day, I fear.

Hard to bet against a team like Texas and that explosive passing game.

it's going well in Ann Arbor so far, biggest test since getting the team winning for Harbaugh, nearly HT and 28-0 up against unbeaten #13 Northwestern.

Any thoughts on your clock management at the end of the game there, coach?

Kansas State are twatting TCU with a roster consisting of 5 JUCOs, a dog and a homeless man pulled off the street 3 minutes before kick off.

The one year Dalton actually looks like a very good QB and our defense turns to complete shit.

Cool.

That is some utterly horrific ball security from Jameis Winston.

Nick Foles having a mare in Green Bay. Especially considering his D has done everything they can to put the Rams in position in this game.

Edit - but Winston gets away with it on review.

Can always count on a Jeff Fisher team to try a little trickery on Special Teams. Nice fake punt.

Some pretty ordinary games so far today. Wouldn't have picked the Jags and Bucs to be the most entertaining at the start.

Fuckin hell Cleveland now leading the Ravens. Caught it between his legs. That was insane.

Annoying loss this. Gifted Seattle most of their points which you just can't do. Still a game that's an indication of how good we can be I suppose, picked apart this Seattle defense at will at times. AFC North is all ours if we want it.

Only real position of worry is the backend of the defense. Nelson has been great for years at SS and appears to have declined the worst possible time, linebackers lack that playmaking ability so there's huge pressure on Burfict to come off the PUP list and hit his stride straight away.
