I assumed that Coughlin leaving the Giants was a retirement from HC roles. Evidently not, and as such I don't know why they got rid of him - surely the issues there are on the defensive side and the personnel (or lack of) they have on that side of the ball. Am somewhat surprised therefore that Coughlin got the bullet and the GM didn't.

Dolphins making a sensible move there. Tannehill has been through so many OCs already, makes sense to get in an OC as HC, so hopefully won't run though more if Gase turns out to be as good a HC as he seems to be an OC.

Good luck to Gase, the Dolphins, like a lot of others, have bigger issues with ownership and GM constantly interfering. If he's left to get on with it he'll do alright, if they continue as they have for the past 10-15 years they may as well be hiring someone else this time next season.

Bob Quinn has apparently said every coaching role is up for evaluation in Detroit, if they are going to get rid of Caldwell the only person I'd want in would be Coughlin of the currently unemployed bunch (retirement permitting) don't know what I'd think if he hired someone like Josh McDaniels.

This is a turnover fest, defence and special teams will decide this game. I can't see the Texans winning this from behind, they just aren't built to do it. Hopefully the game is still within reach at half-time! Hoyer looks terrible coming back from injury.

This gives me no pleasure to say as he was a former Patriot but if the Texans are to stand any chance in this game they need to bench Hoyer. He has been utterly hopeless.

Bad INTs by Hoyer but I wouldn't put the fumble on him.

Wilfork and Watt?!

I almost feel for Texans fans on that one, almost.

I'm sorry but at what point is enough enough? This is probably doing Hoyer more harm than good keeping him in at this stage.

I feel so sorry for him. Had a pretty good season after recovering from the benching fiasco, gets injured and a month later he comes back against the best defence in the league since week six. That's the end of his career as a starter in the NFL...

Not pleasant viewing the way Hoyer was getting booed at the end of the half. I think BO'B at this point the kindest thing is to make the change to Weeden.

Meanwhile I don't think KC have been that impressive on offence. +3 on turnover differential and this game in spite of everything is still all to play for.

It doesn't take much for NFL fan-bases to start booing their teams (Eagles fans are particularly annoying for this). Do they really think it will get much better with Weeden? I would take Hoyer out for his own good, but this game is all about defence. Chiefs haven't been impressive on offence all year, they've been steady and they're coming up against a great defence.

I remember when Alex Smith sucked, what changed? Not having a different OC every year?

That ESPN music almost makes up for Gruden. Almost.

I love Gruden. Second only to Collinsworth.

Smith works much better in a zone-read scheme. He's been pretty decent for a few years, the addition of Maclin has helped a lot going downfield too.

This has been brutal. Clowney misses the game injured, Hoyer plays terribly and now Watt is getting shut down and is also injured. Hard to see a way back into this for Houston.

Smith is still the same player it's just with Kansas he isn't being asked to do things he can't. The scheme is perfectly suited to him, add one of the best Ds in the NFL and its a great match.
I don't know why the Houston fans are booing either, only reason they are in the playoffs is they had the good fortune to be in a piss poor division, imagine if they had to play half decent teams for most of the season, hope the Chiefs shut them out for the whole game.

Good god this is embarrassing. Weeden sighting, there's a pick six left in this one yet. Someone stick some money on Marcus Peters.

Fair play to Kansas mind, been superb here. On to snap an 8 game losing streak in play off games, spanning 22 years. Thats an long run of games with no success in the post season and these guys are ending it in convincing fashion.

Third longest run without a play-off victory in the league I do believe and the Bengals have a chance to end the longest drought later tonight, they'll choke though.

Chiefs at a canter, but at what cost? Maclin surely done, Houston not looking 100%.
