I'd prefer to win the game, as it'll mean we hopefully have found late on a way to win a game. We beat Seattle in week 2 but they're a much better team now, wouldn't put too much stock in that if we ended up facing them later on.

Glad to see were stalling the child abuser for the second time this season after him always being our kryptonite in years past. I do like Zimmer and the way they're playing though.

Good defensive game. I just hope Carolina don't go too far, got tired of Newton's arrogance a long time ago.

If Carolina don't go far I think there'll have been a major upset, they look the best, most balanced team in the NFL.

I think Seattle will take down the Panthers if they come up against them. Wilson over the last month and a half has probably been the most impressive QB in the whole NFL. That and their defence is always one of the elite ones, very tough to overcome.

Black Monday started early, Tomsula and Pettine both been fired. Neither much of a surprise though feel a bit sorry for Tomsula. How on earth anyone could have done any better is beyond me. I expect Pagano to follow tomorrow, again with him though the real issue is the GM who is beyond useless. Be interested to see what happens with Coughlin too, future hall of fame coach may be looking for another job.

Can't see Seattle winning in Carolina, think the Panthers D will hold them quite comfortably and at no point this season has the Seattle D been the one of the past 2 seasons - the only way the Seahawks are getting to the superbowl is if that D gets back to those levels.

Coughlin I would have thought will retire if he is let go. Tomsula was the wrong hire in the first place, but as you say who could do better?
The Lions can interview currently employed people for the GM role now, whoever gets that gig will determine whether Caldwell stays, apparently the Ford's want him to stay but have said it is up to the incoming GM which is a good view to take as GM-Head coach relationship is uber important.

Has someone told the Packers they go to Washington if they lose? Can think that's the only reason for this inept start of the half.

Looks a fumble to me this, will likely be game over if this stands.

ooops, play to the whistle Green Bay. What the hell has happened to the Packers at Lambeau?!? I thought the Lions winning there for the first time in 500 years was amazing but this is something else!
Maybe it is a good idea for them to go on the road for the playoffs.

So toothless. Washington it is. I don't normally give up on games but there is zero sign anything is happening.

Nevermind. Don't like losing the North but at least in the 4th there were signs the passing game was getting going. On the road... a la 2010.

great game, 1st half a defensive battle the 2nd half mistake filled. I don't think the Packers will be too disappointed going to the Redskins but they'll have to perform better than that otherwise Kirk Cousins will rack up a playoff victory.

Really well done to the Vikes for winning the NFCN. Great job done by Mike Zimmer. I suspect they will be one and done but have progressed a lot during his tenure.

Hope we get a snow game in Minnesota now.

Congrats Vikings, you just lost to the Seahawks. I can see the Redskins knocking off the Packers too, they haven't been good for months.

I also can see the Seahawks knocking out Carolina in the divisional round and an all-NFC West Championship game, hope I'm wrong though. As good as Carolina have been, they haven't really faced any great teams this year. The Seahawks they faced a couple of months ago are a completely different team right now and their beat down of the Packers doesn't seem like that big of a deal any more.

Would be very happy with a Steelers vs Cardinals/Panthers Superbowl. Make it happen football gods.

I'd quite like to see the Cardinals do something special. Palmer's transition from Bengals reserve -> dumped by the Raiders -> injury and comeback to a possible career year at 36 for the Cardinals is pretty remarkable given how needy a lot of teams are for a QB and he who was cast off twice comes into the right situation, right head coach, and a perfectly fitting supporting cast.

Anyone but Newton. Well, maybe not the Pats, but...

As a neutral I want a new face to win the Superbowl. But Alex Smith winning the big one in the 49ers Stadium in front of Jed York would be an absolutely incredible story and it's not an unrealistic scenario at all.

I'd also love for Carson Palmer to win it all too, my favourite QB in the league after Brees. He probably would've gone all the way last season if he stayed healthy.

If the Pats don't do it anyone but the Steelers. That said if Peyton gets on a roll and media ball-washing him constantly gets a bit much it may change to them. Even so it'd be nice to see him retire with another ring.

Couldn't really care less from the NFC who makes it. Would like the Vikings to go deep but doubt they will.

Coughlin resigns from his position with the Giants then. Looked like it was always on the cards with their record since they last won the Super Bowl but still to win two rings is a great achievement and deserved to go out on his own terms. Definitely looks the most attractive situation for any coach given the fact the Giants do seem to have the most stable organisation of all the teams with vacancies. Coughlin for his part can either retire and look forward to entering the Hall Of Fame at some point or have his pick of any job he wants if he chooses.

The Steelers best not to win it in my first year of following them otherwise it's all downhill from here.

Stick to my three year plan guys.

Yeah, end of an era for the Giants. While I've been watching I've never known them to have another HC, he's synonymous with the organisation and will surely easily get into the Hall of Fame.

If it's too early for McAdoo, would imagine they'd go for a defensive HC who is willing to leave the offense in McAdoo's hands. Obviously a very attractive position stability-wise (especially when compared to the Browns), but with Eli at 35 for 2016, other than Beckham and possibly JPP and Cruz (who knows on them) I'm not sure that's a star-studded team primed for instant success. I wouldn't expect a new HC to come in and smash the division.

Likewise, 2005 was the first year I got into the NFL. Picked the Steelers when they were 7-5, went on to win the whole thing (as a 6th seed and faced Cincinnati in the Wildcard).

I think for whoever takes over the first thing to look at is that Defense, that was an absolute disgrace at times this year and the main reason they didn't go on to win the division. Even so if you look down their defeats most of them were very close games (like against us and the Jets) and they nearly pulled off one of the all time great comebacks against the Panthers so there's not too huge a swing needed to get that team to the post-season.

With Coughlin he was also the first coach of the Jaguars when they started out as an expansion franchise and led them to the kind of success they could only ever dream of now. Couple that with his two rings in NYC he won't be waiting long for a HOF induction. I suspect he may well want to have a try at one more coaching job though.

Got to agree with that, the front office situation will have everyone scrambling to get to Newark, even Sean Payton. However what they make up for with stability upstairs they lack in terms of actual talent and depth on their roster. They have been incredibly lucky to be in a piss poor division for many many seasons, including the ones they won the superbowl.
If the Browns have anything about them they will be straight on the phone to Coughlin, if he tells them he is going to retire they should do everything they can to change his mind. Whether Coughlin would be willing to step into the mess at Cleveland is of course another question altogether.
If Caldwell goes in Detroit Coughlin would be my number one choice to take over, retirement permitting.

As for who we'd like to see get to the Superbowl - Bengals - Cardinals for me, it's about time everyone in Cinncy stepped up and put to the back of their minds their recent playoff record. Cardinals cos Arians is a great coach and they play some decent smashmouth D. Plus Palmer v Cinncy would be a great storyline.

Sean Payton should hold out for the Indy job, going from Drew Brees to Andrew Luck would probably cement him in the Hall of Fame. New York is a nice job with great owners, but the Colts could win and win very soon with his offence.
