I'll start.

Person at work: Who do you support?

Me: Coventry City

Person at work: Oh. Who's your Premiership team then?

Absolutely hate this. Most of the time it's a Man United fan who's never been to a game before who thinks football below the Premier League doesn't exist.

Playing in the third tier and getting screwed over with ridiculous ticket prices when travelling away (hello Peterborough and Swine and several others). I strongly suspect third tier footy in Germany/Spain/Italy etc doesn't cost £26+ a ticket, you could probably get a season ticket for that.

When I say I support Gillingham I get why would you want to watch that shit for?
So I ask them how many times they've been to there supported teams stadium and the say I watch them on sky so don't have to go so I tell the to fuck off.

I work with a couple of Chelsea fans and ive been to Stamford bridge 2 times which is 2 times more than they have

I had some c*** ask me who I supported when I was on holiday in Spain a few years ago I said Coventry he then said "but what proper team do you support?" I laughed a little because I thought he was joking, he stood there stone faced 100% serious. Tosser.

That's why I have nothing but respect for fellow fans in the lower leagues. Obviously most of our clubs aspire to be in the Premier League but that would only bring out all the plastics in the city/town who used to laugh at the team you support but are now interested because you're playing United and Liverpool.

Refs that have been so shit in the top league that then get deemed suitable for our level, rather than just not used for a week or two.

I don't give a fuck what the gloryhunters think, supporting Bury is much more exciting than watching the top 4 win week in week out on a Sunday or Monday.

The thing about lower league is that anyone can beat anyone, and in one season you can go from title contenders to relegation contenders.. How often does that happen in the premiershite?

They can mock us all they like with their ill researched opinions but at the end of the day I feel sorry for them because they get nowhere near as much satisfaction "following" their team as I do mine.

We have celebrated equalisers against Colchester on a Tuesday night in November with more passion than these armchair fans celebrate winning the Champions League

I sit with two Man United attachees at work, one of whom has never been to Manchester and the other who hasn't since the 80s. My god the conversation is tedious. I think the worst thing is that they literally cannot see a problem with what they're doing by pretending to support them. Buying a shirt doesn't make you a fan. Watching them on tv doesn't make you a fan. Making an effort to watch them live makes a fan. I appreciate for some people living abroad it's a bit more tricky, but no-one who lives in England has THAT long a trip to another English side.

So many c*** in Bristol. Literally 80% of the population 'support' Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, even Man City now. They take the piss out of us and Rovers throughout the season then all of them turn out at Wembley uploading 20 pictures to Instagram with the hashtag #COYR. Fuck off

All things taken into consideration, being a lower league supporter isn't as bad as us lot on here make out sometimes.

  • Ticket prices are a lot lower than the two leagues above. I can afford to travel home and away, something unlikely in the top tier.
  • Supporters at this level on the whole are more passionate than in the Premier League. The core supporters, especially those smaller clubs who follow their team everywhere deserve credit.
  • A lot of the grounds have more character than those above. (Bar that fucking tennis stand at Gillingham :bang::2thumb:)

Don't get me wrong, the lure of the Premier League is great, but being down here has it's good things. I wish tickets were even cheaper down here so stadiums were more populated however.

The peasants you have to surround yourselves with on the football forums.

Sometimes I have to wash my eyes out after I've read the views of certain posters, they make me feel that disgusting.

I mean, really.

Listening to Leroy Rosenior declaring that your club along with the other 23 in the league "will be alright".

The fact a large amount of Crewe fans think it's ok to support United or Liverpool as well, arse holes.

All of this.

Where's the fun in watching a Premiership team winning on the telly every week? When Gills have the occasional decent season or a bit of a cup run it actually MEANS something for us fans because it's a rarity; a beautiful ray of sunshine in an otherwise grey sky of supporterdom. We're shit, we've almost always been shit and will continue to be so, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I don't want us to get to the Premiership, to be priced out of going to our own games, so thousands of plastic, part-time West Ham, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal fans can fill the seats of Priestfield instead.

My mates used to rip into me big time, but I've stayed loyal to the Albion for nearly 50 years now, most of them are Stoke and Derby fans with a few Villa, Wolves, Blues, Leicester, West Brom, Forest fans and the usual armchair United,Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal fans thrown in. We are happy to have achieved lower league status and finally these last few seasons in the league I am grudgingly getting more respect.
The most annoying thing for me last season was during the home game against Carlisle, Albion fans behind the goal were giving it the "we hate Derby" chant and some arrogant sheep fan on the Popside shouted "shurrup" ! Reminded him "this was our ground and you shurrup" to which he didn't reply !

I'd rather be a lower league fan than a supporter in the Premier League. Once you get to that league there's a cut-off point. Whoever finishes 7th should essentially be treated as Champions because there's no chance of a team breaking the dominance of the likes of Arsenal, Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs.

People already getting bored with the same old boring crap every year served up in the Prem and by Sky, its basically a closed shop. I mean whats the fun in making it to the top flight of English Football to just stay mid table for years on end? There isnt, gone are the days where a club like Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town can take the League by storm.

The sooner Chelsea, Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool clear off to a seperate League the better for English Football.
The real fans will be entertained and there will at least be a real competition every year.

Do I care about glory hunters? Not one jot, feel sorry for them and cant take them seriously when it comes to Football.
