Lincoln and Mansfield go up, Notts go down, Bratfud get out of bother and no Scunny slump, we are going to be pretty lonely on the East coast. Our local derby will be with Oldham...

As unlikely as it is, Bet365 have us at 50/1 to make the top 7, which I would say is at least 10 too long. Worth £0.25 of anyone's money. 7 points from our next 3 games would make things interesting. We will, of course, end up with a maximum of 4 and a 12th placed finish will be nailed on.

I love your optimism guys, but you're not finishing in the play-offs are you? Jolley's clearly the right man for the job and he's taking you in the right direction but you don't have enough quality at the minute. You'll go on another four-game losing run soon, then another winning streak and so on and so on...

Wouldn't mind having Grimsby in the play-off as long as their keeper is injured or suspended. Seems to perform better than David De Gea every time he plays us.

With our defenders he has to play like David De Gea most weeks (and has done).

Yeah, no chance we'll make the playoffs. Agree with that.

The win/lose streaks are obviously not ideal, however the last losing streak was Mansfield (who should have had a man sent off - who went onto score the only goal of the game), Palace (where we were VAR'd out of the tie in the 3rd minute), Macc (who aren't going to give many teams an easy ride), Lincoln (who should have had a man sent off) and FGR (who probably play the best football in the division). Oh and we were also decimated with injuries and suspensions and switched to wing backs partway through that streak. Therefore, I'm less concerned about that losing run than any of the previous ones.

It is important that we shake this monkey off our back though and bounce back from a few single defeats between now and the end of the season, if possible. Or even if we could start going WWWLLWWWLLWWWW or something as opposed to WWWWLLLLLWWWW. I have to say though, I'm quite enjoying the amount of wins we're picking up now that we hardly ever draw!

I think with the squad we've got right now, we would have a great chance of sneaking into the top 7 if it was a level playing field points wise. We've got quality in every position now and a pretty decent bench. We've just given ourselves too much to do with that 6 game losing streak and poor January. If we go into next season with a similar looking squad and a couple more good additions, I'll be confident of a strong playoff push.

I remember Oldham fans said they were going to get the P/O last season mid way through and they ended up getting relegated on the last day.

And your point is? Frightened we might catch the Gimps? I think you're safe mate.
Just pointing out that despite this recent good run of three wins on the bounce, you are still a long, long way off the playoffs. As SoC says, you seem to have too many poor runs to be a realistic playoff side. if Jolley can iron that out so that you don't sink into losing 3 or 4 on the trot (see January, November, August/September) then you should challenge for the playoffs next year. Looking at the form guide, it looks like you're due at least one more terrible run this season so I think it's unlikely you'll make it this time around.

On the whole, we've got a decent run in so I can kind of see why people are getting a tad optimistic. The win/lose streak model is pretty much made for The Fishy though, all the extremes and no middle ground! I'd much rather we lose a few from now until May getting to grips with the new system in a manner that enables our squad to learn something that help us in the long run, as opposed to going hell for leather for the playoffs at a mere whiff.

Nice to see Devon Lad has got a boner for us though, must be because of the 4 points we've picked up off Exeter this season.

Some people do get worked up about things don't they.

I'll sit back and wait until after Easter before giving up or getting excited about our Play-Off chances.

Correct, it's pretty tight throughout the division; if we win on Saturday at home to Cheltenham and other results 'go are way' we could be 10th (currently 14th). Not likely but that's how close it is.

Description fits us better, lots of pretty football but too lightweight and no end product. Caught on the break far too easily as well. Doidge doesn't look all that interested.

You’re right about Dodge. Can’t really blame him, though.

Haha yeah we went from 11th to 15th in the live table last night just from all 4 games kicking off.

As mentioned numerous times, not all of us.

Codalmighty hitting the nail on the head yesterday...

"I am hopeful that we are correcting that long-term trend and are a club on the up once more. But the perspective is useful and, I am sure, is not lost on Jolley. We are building, but this will take time and we are not yet where we really want to be.

It is entirely possible to be both happy at how we are doing and disappointed not to be higher up. Just because we are not as high as we have been, that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy watching us play. And just because we are playing some great stuff at times and the future is looking rosy, doesn’t mean I can’t be annoyed that we are so far down the pyramid compared to where we used to be.

To keep pushing this club forward we need to demand the club continues to build on its recent good work and not be satisfied with being a mid-table fourth-tier side. But if you can’t sit back and enjoy the performances we are starting to see on the pitch now, then what are you even watching Town for?"

Stick him on the bench. Seems you were doing better before he returned. Williams and Browne look real threats for you.

That FGR performance was 100% us under Cooper. Soon as we got the first goal I thought you'd struggle to get back into it because Cooper always falls down when his one and only game plan doesn't work in a game.

It was kind of strange being on the other side of the fence so to speak with you being very pretty and us more pragmatic. Could see why fans of opposing teams used to praise our play but doubt our credentials in the long run.

The problem is using a style without having enough decent players to carry it out. Once players realise the boss’ plans are not producing results they go through the motions.

The more pragmatic approach at least utilises every player’s ability to run and tackle - which is the minimum fans should expect.
