I think this result against Swansea reinforces my point a bit. After the loss to Man Utd so many people were saying that they need to win the NLD and their season rests on beating Spurs. Barely anyone mentioned Swansea. (Not on here mind).

So who replaces Wenger then? One more year? I am almost certain now this will be his last contract.

Is Wenger really going to leave? I don't see him leaving, and I don't see him being sacked either. Wenger is extremely valuable for Arsenal... the business.

If Spurs go onto winning the league or at least finishing above Arsenal, with a squad mashed together by Pochettino in just 18 months, and in a year when as many have said almost all the usual contenders have been crap, then surely Wenger has to consider his own failings and position. Obviously Leicester's progress is well documented also.

Arsenal haven't had as good a chance at the title than this season for a long time. And given the work City, United & Chelsea are going to be doing this summer it probably won't come around again for a while.

How much of a shit should I give about qualifying for the Champions League now? With the new TV deal, does it actually make that much of a difference? Because it's far from inconceivable, on current form, that we might miss out.

Arsenal would be absolutely fine financially speaking but I'm not sure what sort of effect it would have on player recruitment (if Wenger plans to actually do any, that is) and keeping hold of players like Ozil and Sanchez who belong in the Champions League.

This. It's not so much the financial aspect of it anymore, but like you say, it's where most big players belong. Miss out once and it's not a big deal, miss out twice and look at us.

Hi Smat.

How do you think of Arsenal's chances of winning the Premiership title?

From the start of this season, I was adamant to anyone who asked that Arsenal would win the league this season. Chelsea's capitulation and Man City's inability to pick up points away from home just furthered my belief and I was still as adamant even as much as a couple of months ago, even after yet another quiet transfer window.

I am now questioning what I actually know about football

Arsene has today completely lost any remaining traces of the plot still in his possession, basically blaming the home fans ("we played in a difficult climate at home"). He also claimed we are "the champions away from home", even though we have picked up seven fewer points on the road than Leicester, who will also be the actual champions.

If this is the end it's a very sad one. If it's not, I dread to think what the actual end will be like.

Some massive decisions coming up for Arsenal. When will Wenger go or when will he be asked to go? Surely they'd never sack him no matter what happened. And who will then come in? I always thought Klopp was their best option but that is obviously no longer on the table. But, despite the couple of cups in recent years, it's a case of same old in the league.

Arsenal without Wenger is difficult to picture for me. It's a bit like it was with Rudolph at United, despite being a teenager when he took charge in the mid 80s, I still couldn't imagine the club without him until it actually happened.

Smart move by Wenger, coming out with those comments now ensures he will have the fans onside for the remainder of the season - particularly with two of Arsenal's last three fixtures being home games.

Not.

He's lost the plot and now he's trying to sour his legacy with the fans. Wenger oot.

His current deal expires in May next year, so unless he signs an extension next season will indeed be his last. Could it be the first time the majority of Arsenal fans would be happy for his legacy to finally come to an end? And for him to probably go out on, if not a good note, then at least not a bad one of which there is a danger if he continues for another three years.

Sounds like the beginning of the end. We had Martinez allude to such bollocks earlier in the season, he's basically feeling sorry for himself realising he's missed a big chance winning the league this season. Can't see Arsenal offering him a new deal, think he will retire next summer
