Surely a good defensive set up would have to account for the fact that on occasion Lallana, or whoever else, is going to lose the ball? If every time he loses the ball it means there's a great chance/goal there's something seriously wrong. Moreno still starting for Liverpool is bewildering.

This game is grim viewing for Southampton fans.

Liverpool deserved the win - some of their attacking play was excellent.

Neither team will be happy with their defences, though. Some of it was absolutely cartoonish.

Classic opening weekend drama for Arsenal again, of course. ArsenalFanTV should be nice and level-headed later.

Well, like every team we're at our most vulnerable in transition. But you missed the part about Henderson.

When we win the ball and have it under control, Moreno is meant to leave his winger behind to create a numerical advantage on our left. That's his job. If we do lose the ball like we did in this instance, Henderson is meant to cover that area as our holding mid. He didn't, and we were left exposed (which I pointed out that he probably wouldn't in an earlier post).

Moreno always leaving his winger behind is a calculated risk, and say what you want about it. But to blame Moreno for it is ignorant.

All in all: Wijnaldum, Mané, Coutinho brilliant. Lallana decent, especially considering his goal. Moreno wasn't good (regardless of Arsenal's 1st), neither was Henderson. We missed Can until he came on.

This one is on Wenger. The signings we need should have been made a month ago, we were short for this one and it's cost us 3 points already. Poor management again. Every season his pondering in the transfer market costs us at the start of the season. 3 points could be big come end of season.

Regardless of that it's hard to read too much into this. We looked much better when Cazorla came on, and with Koscielny, Giroud, Ozil, a new CB and a new attacker to come in we should get much better.
