That was at least 30 yards out. Given would have lost whichever limb stopped it.

Terrific pressing by Arsenal, Villa players unable to move once they get into the final third

One of the most one sided Cup finals you are ever likely to see.

Bitterly disappointing for the neutral

Yep, the commentators have been saying that it's a disappointment that Villa have not been able to match their semi-final performance but the truth is that Arsenal have not let them perform at all.
Easy-peasy there for Mertesacker.

This is even more one-sided than our game against United a decade ao, if that's possible.

It's been an enjoyable game to watch but it would have been better if it was end to end rather than end to halfway line.

Even the Utd v Millwall final wasn't this one sided was it?

Villa have been absolutely woeful, embarrassing effort from pretty most of them bar Delph, Okore and Given. That squad is in serious need of an overhaul, they need 7-8 decent players for next season. Don't get me wrong, Arsenal have been superb, but Villa have just looked generally disinterested, no passion or energy at all.

As for Arsenal, its good to see a big club properly celebrating at the moment, but doesn't it show how starved they are of success that this is all they can get excited about, winning the FA Cup against mediocre teams. I remember when they got to the Champions League final and were consistent title challengers. All this win does is paper over the cracks of what has been yet another average season for them and another season where they look miles away from being a title winning side, not to mention an abject exit from the champions league. Well done to them, but this does mask their problems big time.

Eh, it's not the most glorious, but average season is talking bollocks. 90 professional sides in England will be wishing they had this season. Average isn't appropriate. Two trophies in two years and improved league performances? We're significantly better off than two years ago.

It just goes to show how football has changed when finishing 3rd and winning the cup is deemed average.

Villa have been embarrassing. Haven't had a chance the entire game.

Fair play to Arsenal though, happy for Walcott after all of the injuries.

Disappointing end to a disappointing season.

Thank you Arsenal! Absolutely overjoyed. Get to watch my team in Europe! :bg:

Hopefully we actually qualify this time, rather than get knocked out in qualifying by Steau Bucharest.

Feel sorry for the Villa fans. Can't be nice to lose that badly. Arsenal keeper didn't have a save to make.

People were saying the exact same about us getting 4th place over Tottenham. I disagree completely that winning the FA Cup papers over the cracks, I think it shows that the club is coming out of a transitional phase of relative austerity to become one of the top clubs in the country again. Our start to the season was shocking but with the addition of Gabriel, Bellerin and Coquelin this squad is already far better than the one we started with and there is nothing to stop us now adding the one or two pieces we need to be title challengers. Özil and Sanchez are just the beginning.

As for the game, that was easy enough. We were always in control and Villa were only going to keep us out for so long. Didn't give them a sniff at the other end, I think given how well we played there was very little Villa could do.

Men against boys. Arsenal had another gear if they wanted it at any point. Very one sided final. I thought it would be closer.

Not a classic final by any stretch but Arsenal's performance made up for that. A pleasure to watch them in that form.

Making goonerz cry
People will say Villa played really bad....personally I thought Arsenal just played too well. Sanchez and Cazorla at their best are almost impossible to play against.

For now though im going to bury my head under my pillows until this all passes over. Well done gooners....I'll see you on August 2nd when Chelsea once again prove their far and away Londons pride.
