He's after a pay-rise off Macc again.

He'll be "flattered to be linked" but end up staying at Macclesfield like the previous 35 years.

Has this one come from the famous Red Passion rumour mill by any chance?

It would be a surprise if John Askey, having finally got Macclesfield back into the FL jumped ship. Wrecsam are probably more financially stable than Macc, but on the face of it not an obvious move for him.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Why do you think that?

Could see him perhaps moving to another FL club having got Macc back up, given he's turned down such offers before. Dropping straight back to manage another NL side though?

I would be very surprised if Askey is still manager of Macc at the start of next season. However, I think he's more likely to move to another FL club rather than drop back down to the NL - if available, I would think Tranmere and Wrexham are the only jobs he'd consider down here.

I personally don't think Askey would be a success at a club like Wrexham or ourselves, where the pressures are completely different. It strikes me he is a one-club man like John Coleman or Keith Hill.

Can't see JA leaving at all. Will get offered a better contract, hopefully most of the current squad will stay on, he will want a decent crack at the football league. Think we'll do OK next season, mid table easy ;)

Yep, it's a different challenge and the fans are a lot more demanding. If a manager doesn't get us in the playoffs then we always change him, or if he's any good then we lose him. Saying that, we're never getting out of here so we might as well give someone a few years. Problem is that the fans have waited too long now and unless he starts well then the knives are out and it all becomes toxic fairly quickly.

For what it's worth I think he's happy in his job-for-life, no pressure cosy environment at Macc and how can anyone blame him.

It's all these sensible reasons that make it sound daft that he would leave to go to Wrexham, which make me think it's exactly something I could see happen!

He'd probably be working with a smaller budget here too. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors at MONEYBAGS Macclesfield.

Given our owner and certain fiascos going on at the moment I wouldn’t rule anything out I’m sorry to say

I wonder what would happen if Macclesfield are adrift at the bottom of League Two at Christmas; would the club be loyal to him, or give him the boot? (for the record, I think/hope they'll be fine next season)

From a Wrexham point of view, the jungle drums seem to be suggesting that barring a highly improbable set of results on Saturday, a new manager will be announced on Monday. This would point to them having somebody lined up who is currently employed at another club, otherwise they'd surely have announced them sooner. It would also suggest that they're employed by a club whose season is over as of this weekend; that rules out any manager involved in the play-offs, and anyone managing in The Football League. Of course, the jungle drums may be wrong.

If I was a betting man, I'd be more likely to put a fiver on Mark Yates than Askey. It's going to be Craig Harrison, isn't it?

No chance.

He’ll have Macclesfield mid table in January and get a move to somewhere like Lincoln, Port Vale etc.

Sending Deverdics and Franks across to infiltrate the ranks and influence the higher ups was phase one of Toni&Guy's plan, now onto phase two...

Not sure we'll be trading Cowley for Askey.

Well, it is what it is. Momentum's on his side, it's happening, but as Poolies we can't waste our time on that.

From what I've seen of them so far, I don't think either of them have the ability to influence anything. Or maybe that's what they want us to think...

You may be on to something.
