. Pompey are the only ground I've had to raise my voice to talk to my mate sat next to me cos all three sides are belting out a song

Love it when you're in atmospheres like that.
Burnley v PNE in 2000 was my most memorable. They created unbelievable noise, until we went 1 up.
You could literally feel the waves of noise hitting your face. It felt as though I was stood at altitude....ears popping etc. Loved it.

Deepdale is good in the big games but it's impossible to re-create that when the stadium is half full. Blackpool in the cup last season, Rotherham in the play-off first leg and United the other week were superb at times. The noise was unreal when Clarke put us 1-0 up against the Lashers.

One of the best I've heard in recent times was for about 5 minutes at St Andrews. The entire ground save a few hundred Barnsley fans belting out Keep Right On, 3-0 down at the time and live on Sky. Couldn't hear myself think. Terrific backing of their team. Sadly, that swiftly changed to boos and fcuk offs as we made it 4-0 in the middle of it all:fl:

Cambridge and Portsmouth were the ones I was impressed with this season. Pompey are the only ground I've had to raise my voice to talk to my mate sat next to me cos all three sides are belting out a song

Pompey fans were superb when I went there.

In terms of loudest chants, Delilah at Stoke has to be up there.

Marching on Together in a full Elland Road is very impressive too.

One of the oddest things I've seen at footy....

Derby away about 10yrs ago. The home crowd were sat in silence, unanimated, yet there was one hell of a racket coming from somewhere.
They were belting chants out of the fucking loudspeakers, the mad bastards!

I've a lot of time for Derby; they have phenomenal support (numbers wise) but fuck me, that was very tinpot.

I've always thought our atmosphere was best when we're doing shit. A bunch of pissed off people are more likely to make their voices heard than a group of content ones. Always feels better scoring when you're expected to lose in my opinion.

What takes the biscuit is my club sending me texts such as "come and watch Swindon take on Crawley Town this weekend for ONLY £25 #doyourpart"...really.

Quite an embarrassing video but, shows that we're capable of making a racket, if the occasion suits. Even with only 17k in the ground.

Ours is shite obviously but I really feel like this is yet another opportunity to discuss just how bad MK Dons' is. When we were there last season a fan actually yelled something to Kiwomya from the away end and he turned round and looked. It's eery - not even a bit shite like some grounds in League 1, Walsall springs to mind where I've been twice and still have no idea where 'the chanters' sit, or if there actually are any - but at least you can hear their fans shouting and that. MK Dons has nothing but a stony silence like sitting in a stadium with a few thousand cardboard cut-outs.

If a bunch of Crown Green Bowls fans showed up at Stadium:MK they'd be immediately labelled as ultras.

West Ham play a recording of fans singing 'Forever Blowing Bubbles' too, to make it sound like it's coming from the crowd. Or at least they did when they were in the Championship.

Best I've heard would be Stoke singing Delilah.
The season when it was us and them fighting for promotion to the premier league we had to go to the Britannia Stadium for what was an absolutely massive game. I think there was about 1500 city there and just before kick off we were making fair bit of noise. Then the whole stadium sang deliliah and and it pretty much shut us up. And we lost which went a long way to ensuring we didn't make the top two. Bad day all round.

Ha! I got that message as well and I'm a fucking ST holder so why would I pay £25 extra for the privilege?

Ours is quite good. Spent a lot of money on that material of the stands so that the noise reverberates back onto the playing area.

Atmosphere at ours has got a lot better in recent years. I remember it being absolute dogshit for a good decade after we went down from the Prem. Probably since the League Cup final/promotion year a couple of years ago it's got quite good for the big games, there seems to be a bit more togetherness between fans and team which has helped massively, I genuinely didn't like a lot of the players for long periods of the noughties.

For a league match I thought Preston had the best home atmosphere I've seen in League One. They were good vocally and all three stands seemed to join in when we played them in December and don't think I remember it going quiet at any point all match.

Beyond that I thought that Portsmouth and Sheffield Wednesday have had the best home atmospheres that I've seen to date.

Last season when we were bottom of the league and Brentford beat us 2-1 I remember Uwe Rosler praising our home support and wishing Brentford fans could be more like us, absolutely no way he'd say that if he came down the gate this season!

I think the loudest I've heard is Swansea, was only 11-12000 there on a Tuesday night but they were very loud, if love to see how loud they are when its full. Honourable mentions for West Brom, Pompey, Cardiff (Ninian Park), Leeds and Sunderland.

We rarely have an atmosphere, only in the big games do we make a noise. Preston at home last season was the best ive heard in years though.

In general it's pretty poor at ashton gate, but like anywhere it can be very good on occasions- im pretty sure I read a referee (possibly graham poll) comparing a playoff semi final atmosphere at ashton gate to the nou camp in a champions league game
