Before our relegation we always took well over 3k, only went over 4k once though. Took about 1200 in the JPT this season.

It was usually somewher about 3500 or so. Imagine what it would be like if either of the sides were good

Notts County FC vs Mansfield Town FC at Meadow Lane is 'The Big Day Out'. I'd expect well over 3000 Stags fans as per normal. Stags always bring more to Meadow Lane than they get at their next home game at Field Mill. The definition of a Big Day Out (BDO).
My favourite away ground to visit is Sincil Bank, can't believe once again we've fallen back down to League 2, and for the first time I don't get my trip to Lincoln gutted.

It depends, I think the main reason numbers were so high was the fact it was never all ticket.

Yeah, though no doubt notts police will do that. It was always a good piss up and we never lost to them so it was a double whammy.

I wonder if notts police/council are as backward and daft with their policies with county as they are with mansfield

Like Jacob said if I wasn't a Notts fan, I'd love to do Notts or Forest away, and make an all day piss up or weekend of it. IMO it has everything you need for an away trip.

Hooters, decent clubs, certainly one our group is looking at for our weekender!

Quite a few decent options in this league, London if you're rich, lots of seaside trips, Hartlepool/Newcastle, Mansfield/County for Notts

Bearing in mind that is higher than your average attendance in the last 20 years, I'm calling bullshit on that one..

The same Mansfield side that fails to sell out Chesterfield and took
218 to Gigg Lane last season.

3,000-4,500?? Take 2k off and it would still be debatable.

:ffs:

29/03/08 3,317 stags / 10,027 total
10/03/07 4,047 stags / 10,034 total
04/03/06 3,743 stags / 9,779 total
05/02/05 3,600 stags / 10,055 total

I guess Notts police like us to play this fixture Feb/March time judging by the above match dates at Meadow Lane.

UTS why would you be surprised its their BDO like I said.
I suspect there are plenty of hangers on and F*rest fans contained within those impressive away numbers.

Surely Yeovil will be the one everyone looks out for?

As a recent Championship club in a tinpot league we'll be everyone's big day out/biggest home draw :2thumb:

It actually is one I'll be looking out for as I've never been there. In fact, as a club we've only ever played at your ground once in our entire history, which IIRC was during the most depressing season in my living memory (and there's been some stiff competition for that accolade).

I suspect many are just people who are mates with us that want to go down Notts all day that come along and like you say make a day of it. Not sure If you still allow Pay on the day but that very much seems a thing of the past in most grounds in the Football League these days. If it's all ticket then anything over 2000 will be good, If it's not then I can see 3500 at least again.

Lets just hope we aren't as embarrassing as this season, If we are there will be more stay in Notts than what go into the ground. Looking forward to it anyway, Games with you at Field Mill always draw a large crowd aswell. Most of the time more than what turn up for Chesterfield which is odd.

Your pretty much the Forest Green on the FL, but being one of our very few local games (and even then your a good 2hours) I look forward to playing you.

I'd like to think we're slightly better than that, mainly due to not being an eco-warriors bankrolled vanity project.

Also we have (some) fans.

But likewise, always had a soft spot for Pompey for some unknown reason, look forward to visiting the rifles pub in Fratton, I've heard it's very welcoming!

Only been in the Rifle Club once or twice, think it was worse a few years ago and would say its much calmer now due to us being in league 2 and less away fans and that. Although being halfway between the ground and Fratton Station it can get abit rowdy when the Oxford, Lutons etc are in town.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
If you mean in terms of attractive games we don't have any at Carlisle, but I am sort've saying Morecambe now as I think with it given more time it could develop abit of a rivalry.

In terms of an attractive away trip.....Orient is the best by a long long way, I always used to say that and I still do, cracking old school away end with a great atmos, plus very easy to get to regardless of how you go.

Yeovil literally is in the middle of nowhere. It's on an industrial estate in a forest.

They definitely don't have telephone lines there.

The Wednesday
In my entire time supporting Notts, ten years or so, I think Manchester City in the cup are the only team who've sold out our away end. Wednesday might have done once, but that's it.

If you do then fair enough, it's great news for us, just seems kind of unlikely.

We had 4,498 in the 11/12 season which was a complete sell out for us.

We've tended to take somewhere between 3000-4500 to notts county when we've played them in the past- whether this happens again next season remains to be seen. its a good day out and they never beat us there - so that'll probably be the biggest following they get.

Not that bury have been promoted im guessing LOLton are going for the "we are massive" status on their own next season then?
now now adam-don't be sore
Luton's fans always help the poor.
we may not be the team that floats your boat,
but our hoards of fans have helped keep others afloat.
all the revenue we bring to the away team coffers
help to pay for the wages, bills and coppers.
many a team actually welcome the hatters
cause to stave off admin is what really matters.
so maybe next time your team is in the shit
the Luton fans will do their bit!!

For most people following Mansfield I guess nottingham is a big day out. Very small day out compared to my home of Manchester though!

Most of my mates who don't normally come along seem to want to come which is good. Helps county out with finances too.

So let me get this right its Manchester > Nottingham > Mansfield?
Ok thanks for clearing that up for me. Like I said its the Stags fans Big Day Out, basically their biggest due to the numbers you are limited to at Chesterfield. Lots of friends, family, hangers on, F*rest fans, drunkards etc joining in to boost numbers

Yep. Adam and yourself pretty much summed it up there. A good excuse for a (away day) piss up is probably the main reason.

Best sort of away days, local, big following and on the beers from mid/late morning onwards, plus you usually get a result to boot.

There's quite a few I'd look forward to, the Cambridge, Barnet and Luton games always have a slight edge to them.

Yeah, the edge of your players studs as they cut into all 11 of Barnets players legs. Atleast Akinde survived the Halifax onslaught, he'll know what's coming when the Westley GBH XI rock up at the Hive.

I think you must have misunderstood what I meant. The games with Luton, Cambridge and yourselves have a little more riding on them for us, something that makes them a little more meaningful than your average match with say a Morecambe or Carlisle.

Yeah Manchester is ace, my sister lives in the middle of nottingham whixh is a bit of a result if can't get back.

Last time we were on the train for 9. The look on the old ladies faces trying to get on at Kirkby when they couldn't get on was brilliant!

It's good county have those numbers to allow fans in, even if Chesterfield had the capacity I think it would be limited due to the feirce nature of the game.

Well we certainly can't get anywhere near filling the stadium, so we might as well let the odd away team fill up as much as possible. Ends up being a big earner for club ££££. It's shame when we visit Field Mill, that we aren't given both ends behind the goals, and all the Stags fans can go in the West Stand, surely it makes financial sense.
