Well we certainly can't get anywhere near filling the stadium, so we might as well let the odd away team fill up as much as possible. Ends up being a big earner for club ££££. It's shame when we visit Field Mill, that we aren't given both ends behind the goals, and all the Stags fans can go in the West Stand, surely it makes financial sense.

That once happened with Chesterfield, its fair to say that it was chaos and wasn't far off a riot.

Newcastle isn't around the corner from Hartlepool you know! 45 mins on the train. HARTLEPOOL has a marina with a holiday inn and a premier Inn on it , both 5 mins walk from the ground, loads of Restaurants and plenty of watering holes, you could do a lot worse than stay in the town

We have to be one of the most 'attractive' fixtures for people. We've got a nice old stadium, pretty nice part of the country and the trademark long journey, and most importantly you're highly likely to come away with a point or three for your troubles.

It is a very good away day, but once you've done Carlisle a few times (or even once, really) the novelty of the ungodly long journey starts to wear off a bit.

you're right about the journey being a pain
it takes less time to fly to spain .
once i thought i could get a quick train
but the four hour journey just blew my brain.

Suit yer selves! ! It's full of stags and hens, you'll here more irish accents than Geordie and pay 4 quid a pint ! If you must go, there are loads of independent small restaurants , give the chains a miss

It was good , we were wondering if it was an anniversary of something or other, you have to appreciate how many times we see less than 100 in that end on a midweek . Lager is anywhere between 1.50 and 3 quid a pint dependent on where you go.... how much is it in London ? I was watching that Eastenders documentary they show 3 times a week and Mick charged someone a tenner for 2 glasses of wine I think

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I actually liked Stevenage when I went there for the first time a couple of years ago and it never gets much of a mention as a decent trip.

but its a nice ground which while modern keeps abit of of individuality to it, plus a massive place nearby with pubs, places to eat, the town centre is 10 minutes away so more to go to.

It never ceases to amaze me how Londoners live. How a standard rate tax payer lives a decent life is beyond me

We stayed overnight in Hartlepool at the start of this season in the Travelodge overlooking the Marina, and I have to say it was a cracking evening. We won and all three of the pubs we went in were top notch. We knew the Millhouse from our visit the season previous, and then there's the two Spoons, one close to the train station and the other more centrally in the town. Great away day and probably one of my favourite places to visit, especially with that away end which is basically on top of the goal.

I can't imagine anyone particularly enjoys visiting us, especially with a nice little trip on the Tube to contend with as well from inner London. Chesterfield are the only fans I know that do it a different way, whenever we play them there's a group that go from Euston/Victoria//St Pancras (Delete as appropriate), to Liverpool Street and then get an overground train to Romford and drink there pre-match before getting a cab to the ground. Alternatively if you did that, you could get off a stop before at Chadwell Heath and there's a Spoons right outside the station more or less which is £1.99-£2.20 a pint depending on what your drinking and then get a cab to the ground again from there. We're pretty sparse drinking wise round the club, either the Eastbrook or our clubhouse for home and away fans. There's a new pub opening up next door to Dagenham East Tube station for next season but it's a Marstons and I don't think it's particularly cheap.

You undersell yourself Murphy (although we come by car, which makes a difference). Dagenham pie & mash with liquor was a happy memory for us from the Conference and it was great to renew a tradition this season. The Eastbrook offered good beer, fair prices and atmosphere this time and the clubhouse is roomy and always welcoming. Not worth an overnight but streets ahead of some of the competition.

That said, the Hartlepool trip is up near the top for this season (football aside) - plenty of good pubs, decent food in the 'spoons and the Rat Race was Pub of the Season, just ahead of the (edit) Kemble Brewery (Oh! and Stanford Arms in Lowestoft).

Cheers lads , I thought everyone thought Hartlepool was still in the 60s. That Rat Race at the station only sells real ale , great if that is your thing. If you only have time for a quickie before the match call into the Mill House Pub, behind our main stand good atmosphere and friendly, also a little council car park between that and the stand where it only costs a couple of quid, should be plenty of places left if you turn up an hour before hand

I've got mates that live in Clapham so going to Wimbledon is easy in that sense, so going to do that also for you next season providing it is on a saturday and not too close to xmas. Days out can be good wherever you go, it's just what you know and what you make of it.

I constantly say Mansfield is a good day out if you head into town, proper pubs, cheap beer, nice locals - the area isn't great, but for a football match, hopefully a good few pints in a decent pub outweigh what the town looks like

Anyone been to the Kemble Brewery Inn in Cheltenham? Cracking pub, shame to lose it! Not sure if Habbinalan is referring to it

Every fixture in this league, except Stanley is attractive compared to Welling.

You won't be saying that if you have a pie in the Crown Pub. Accrington HAS to be top of everyone's list!

That pub is brilliant. Also really like the Coopers Tavern in Burton, but we've lost that too!

Looking forward to doing Hartlepool next season hopefully. York is always good.

Would also agree with the post that Kidderminster need to come up. Pies bigger than your head....
