Some were angry with the reaction of your fans to us going down, admittedly I have no idea what happened but apparently there's some historical background to it. .

If memory serves it was the usual "going down" song from the corner of the west stand. Wasnt particularly OTT but I guess anything would be amplified with the realisation you have been relegated.

Bit of an overreaction in that case...

I've personally always felt that Barnet fans really don't like us, from other forums and such. Doesn't really bother me, apparently it all started way back when Barry Fry was knocking about. Ran down the touch line in the FA Cup or something taunting the Cobblers fans and it's just built from there.

There was a lot of taunting when Barnet got relegated at Sixfields and it seemed to upset a lot of Barnet fans

Ourselves and Northampton fans have something in common in that our stadiums are half built.

Sooner we get the end stands in and sort out the East stand so it has a proper roof the better. At the moment it's like a wind tunnel and just doesnt retain the noise in the same way Underhill did.

My theory on the number of fans we have lost:

I think that as a result of the move, we lost somewhere in the region of 400-500 fans, many of whom used to come regularly as families. I know of at least 20 people from my sixth form that used to watch Barnet regularly in the Underhill days, but now do not watch Barnet.

I'd also estimate that we have seen an influx of somewhere around 200 fans, hence the lower attendances - the gap left by fans who haven't followed the club to Harrow has not been plugged by prospective new fans from the area.

Suppose I'll see all you lot at the Spoons in Stanmore :2thumb:

Sounds about right to me. the owner seems to focus on making money through other avenues and promoting the Hive for it's gym, banqueting and conference facilities more than promoting tickets for games.

Is the away end good for making noise?

Interesting that of the 7 goals we have scored this season, they have all been scored by different players. Good to see we are spreading the goals out amongst the team, cant afford to rely to heavily on Rico. Have a feeling john-joe and or Holmes will come back into the team. If Holmes is anywhere near 100% he should start over Potter. Just a better player.

Our zero league goals are also spread across the whole team.

As a heads up to anyone travelling down the club twitter feed has just announced that the M1 is closed both ways in Bedfordshire due to a police incident.

What a shocking first half football wise. Both teams going long. We changed our front 4 but are playing so narrow, just punting it over the top. Calvert lewin looks good but need a change of tactics second half. Adams on for Hackett please.
Few players struggling with the greasy pitch also.

I am fuming with this game and our poor poor performance. Will provide my thoughts later but well done barnet. I can be gracious in defeat.

Well that was unexpected! It sounded like the first half was dreadful.

Lovely jubbly, lucky to get away with the first half by the sound of it.

Sounded like it wasn't quite up to the brilliance of the 4-0 win in 12/13 or the 4-1 FA Cup win back in 06/07 but still very sweet...

Very good win.

Both teams intent on playing long ball, which both defences seemingly picked off in the first half.

The game really changed when Luke Gambin came on for Tomlinson on the left-wing. He tore the Northampton right-back to shreds and had ran half the length of the pitch to set up Akinde for the penalty. Not sure it was a red card for Taylor, but definitely a penalty nonetheless. MOTM was Gambin, despite only playing 30-odd minutes. He looks revitalised, a top top player on his day. Mention also has to go to Akinde, missed an early chance but kept plugging away - got his reward with two well-taken goals.

Onto Saturday now.

Penalty but not a red for me. That little midget was a top player.

Btw DoorBuzzer, 'we made you c*** non-league'.
I had a great night. About to get the rattler home, the flying Scotsman was a half decent way to end the night #quidatit

Yeah but so did Torquay and now look at them, still if you want to be in that elite group!

So pissed off with that performance yesterday. Why we decided to change our tactic and go long every time is beyond me. It defies the point of having 3 small lads behind the striker if your just going to bypass them. Didnt think Barnet were great but once Taylor went off with the penalty we never really got a look in and they finished the game well, Akinde caused problems with his strength, calm penalty also. Didnt see the scramble in the second half for us, was it cleared off the line?

Liked the hive as a stadium but the atmosphere was pretty poor from the home crowd. Disappointing crowd, I would of thought the ones that want to sing would go in the home terrace?

Dont see why we had to change all 4 players at the top of the pitch either. We need another CB also as Rod Macdonald is not going to be good enough at the moment, maybe he will improve but we need a better quality back up.

Onto Plymouth on Saturday.

You can now see the problem with the Hive.
The East stand isn't popular, the Terrace is mainly used by those who used to stand in the old NW terrace and were never the most vocal. Those from the East terrace who are the noisiest have moved to the West Stand and the nature of the layout means the noise they make isn't retained in the ground. Those now in the west stand don't want to move to the terrace because the view is so much poorer.

In terms of numbers 1500 home fans on a Tuesday night is generally more than we used to attract at Underhill. It's easy to forget that our home average for the last 5 seasons we were in league two was 1700.

Shame because I think that other terrace could be very noisy. Think we made a fair bit of noise and it was a decent turnout from our lot.

Yeah, he only dragged the striker down when he was clean through 8 yards from goal. Never a red.

Funny thing is I didn't think it was a red at the time.

Quite clearly a definite one now.

I mean more in that it dosnt seem to fit the crime. Can see why the ref sent him off, but there were others not a million miles from him, just frustrating that a late tackle can be a booking and a pull back is a red. Thats a whole other debate though I guess.
