Not surprising, they seem to have a pretty handy squad on paper.

Wilson seems one of them managers who has lived on his past for a long time

i know he had that promotion with hartlepool afew years ago, but really most of his managerment has been failing to deliver.....failed at Bristol C, Failed at MK Dons, failed at Swindon, Failed at Sheff Utd, Failed at Barnsley 92nd time) and afew of them jobs were with very good set-ups already in place and teams expected to do better.

Appears the home defeat from us was the final nail in the coffin.

I bet losing at home to Fleetwood kills off quite a few managers.

Barnsley were pretty gash at ours, and should have made a better fist of it this season, so no great surprise really.

iono about these sackings. They just seem pointless in some cases. Barnsley have had a pretty shite few months but I genuinely can't remember the last time they weren't cack - probably like 5 or 6 managers ago. You can't sack a manager every season, eventually you just have to ride it out, take the shit league position and give the manager a second summer to build. They're not really in danger of getting relegated I don't think.

Look at the odds for next manager too, every time someone gets sacked now it's just a list of 10 names that scream 'we'll be in this position again in 12 months'.

Don't entirely disagree, I mean I can't think of anyone who'd do any better apart from maybe some managers who won't even entertain the thought of managing Barnsley anyway. However, Wilson was hired last March and given last summer to rebuild the squad in his own image, he was given a generous budget and we have one of the highest wage bills in the league, but we've been playing some of the worst football I've seen at Oakwell in some years, and I've seen some real shit in the past. He'll always be a legend here but 17th in mid-February isn't an acceptable position for one of the best supported clubs in the division with the aforementioned high wage bill. I think the right choice has been made in the end, maybe the wrong choice was made back in March and sentiment ruled when bringing him back.

Fifth highest wage budget in the league apparently. I assume this is after Bristol City, Peterborough, Sheffield United and MK Dons?

Cracking squad on paper at Barnsley but something just isn't right at that club. They lost in the League Cup and only just scraped past us in the league when we were absolute gash in August.

Ours will be higher than Peterborough's.

Not really spent the transfer fees of the other five clubs though, despite the big wage bill they seem to have accumulated. Bristol City are paying big wages, Peterborough have spent well over £1 million on transfers this window, Sheffield United are believed to have paid a seven figure sum for Brayford. Maybe Orient wage wise have spent more than MK and Barnsley But the other three are definitely streets ahead.

Anyone with Chris Hutchings as coach, is going to suffer. Can't help but feel that times have passed Wilson by. His teams, tactics and approach come across as rather 'archaic'.

FYI our wage budget is £4million this season with Darius Henderson on £10k per week and Andrea Dossena on £20k - even though both never play.

Hopefully Wilson will be our next manager, I'll take anyone right now, anyone British, Anyone.

Not calling you lot weak or owt but if that had happened at my club I'd be down Meadow Lane challenging Rodwell/Derry to a fight to the death - and I'd happily die a martyr if it meant that prick wasn't getting £10k a week from my club.

We have very very few supporters who are mainly old men and we've always had very low self esteem due to not being very good, no way will anyone at our club do such a thing.

I want to, but I'd be on my own..........

We don't pay big amounts on basic wages, but we do have a lot of bonuses in contracts.

Tyrone Barnett was one of highest earners and he's accepted a contract from Shrewsbury without us paying anything towards it.

As a new Barnsley fan on here, I feel I should say something on the events of the past couple of days.

Having been to most games this season and last, I feel it's the correct decision. The football from day one has been turgid, negative and soul-destroying to watch for the most part, with the odd good performance vs Bradford/Gillingham/Bristol City the exception rather than the norm. Although we needed stability, we needed to show signs of improvement since last season as well. For me, we've not shown anywhere near enough improvement under Wilson and although he's been without our best striker for the past 3 months, I'm not sure that would have stopped him setting us up to draw away from home and sitting back on a narrow lead at Oakwell. He failed to keep us up last season, and has failed to get anywhere near the best out of players signed with the 5th biggest budget in the division this season. He'll always be a club legend, but we were going nowhere with him.

The play-off push starts now.

That last bit may not be serious.

Uwe Rosler being linked with the job in today's Mirror so you can probably forget about him.

Would be more than happy with Rosler but I doubt he'll even bat an eyelid.

Quite. It needs to be someone that can motivate the bunch of spineless, lazy wastes of oxygen that currently play for us. Christ knows who that is though.
