Okay - I'll be the idiot to suggest it.

With LJ seemingly going to Barnsley, how abo GJ to take over at Oldham?

last week I was pretty gutted but I've come round to accept it now. He's done a good job here this season certainly, but some of our fans are now suggesting the season is over and that is most definitely not the case. We will take the £200k and move on.

Lee Johnson moving to Barnsley before Saturday would be pleasing, bound to be a bit unsettling.

Since Barnsley made contact well over a week ago I would hope our board have possible replacements lined up already, however this is our board we are talking about. Id expect Tony Philliskirk in caretaker charge for Saturday.

If he does get the job...hold on tight Barnsley fans. You'll love him, admire his passion for your club...then it'll all go tits up when something happens that he doesn't like.

LJ has a lot of the same traits as a manager as GJ. He's a great bloke and was a tremendous player for us when he was here. I hope he does well at Barnsley.

Good appointment. Maybe too late this season but I'd expect them to be up there challenging next season after this.

All told this season has been very poor for us. We're still somehow only 4 points off the play-offs but I'd be content with Johnson guiding us to a top half, 10th-12th finish this season and then hopefully kicking on next season once he's had a full transfer window to get the team how he wants it. That shouldn't take too long as we've a good squad on paper, they've just woefully underperformed.

I'm surprised Johnson has taken a backward step in terms of league position to join Barnsley.

I'd have thought he could have placed his next move into the Championship but I guess he'll just have to get their by promotion. Do Barnsley have a top 6 budget?

5th biggest in the league was stated when they sacked Wilson. It's a good move for him. He'll keep them up easily, be able to build a good squad to go for promotion that year and once he does that his career's pretty much set. Far more appealing than getting a lower-half Championship club.

I'm quite happy with this.

That said, the last time we poached a manager from that neck of the woods it weren't very good,

Fifth biggest budget in the division and only two points behind Oldham anyway. Would not bet against them finishing above Oldham this year either.

With the greatest of respect to Oldham, it's clear there is much more potential for bigger things at Barnsley rather than Oldham, bigger club, bigger budget etc, it all comes into play when picking between two clubs too manage.

No arguing over Barnsley being more attractive proposition, what perplexes me is his record is bang average , W 36 D 35 L 32. Nothing amazing there to be fair, seems these 30 something managers are all the rage , Howe and Robinson spring to mind, don,t think it,s a stand out appointment at all, to be fair anyone of 12 clubs have a shout for the play-offs including Barnsley and Oldham, the fact teams like Vale Gills and Barnsley have been gash shows the inconsistency of the league when all are within shouting distance of 6th spot. Not convinced that a more experienced guy would of been a better shout given average record. His record epitomises Oldham, mid table on low budget.

Oldham were in a right state when he went there, he steadied the ship and got them playing some really good football.

There's only two points in it, and this is with Barnsley having had a pretty ropey time of it. Plus with the owner of Oldham wanting out, the future is more uncertain there than at Oakwell. It says something for the madness of L1 that Barnsley can sack their manager, get stuffed 5-1 at Crawley then with two wins be back in the play off race.

I'd like to think that there is only one available slot in the play offs to be filled, with Bradford in the box seat at present. But Doncaster will challenge, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Barnsley up there too by the season end.

I'll never forgive him for selling Jose Baxter and saying 'we will be better without him'.

I doubt he would have had much of a choice in selling him and he's hardly going to say "Right, we're f**ked now", is he? Baxter going to Sheffield Utd hasn't really worked out either.

He looked better at Oldham.

That's one thing I don't get about LJ's departure, this season he seems to have finally got the squad he wants. Maybe it's because of the uncertainty over Evans/the ownership, I don't know.

he was quoted at the time as saying it was his choice to sell Baxter and he wasn't forced by the board, we also went on to sign three players within a couple of days which strengthens this argument.

ive stolen the below from our board, not my own post, but it sums up how I and many others seem to feel about the situation:

Having had a night to sleep on it.... He's definitely disappointed me.... And I think less of him as a result.

All this #whoscomingwithme, #OneTeamOneDream, 3 girls showing interest doesn't mean I'll bat an eye lid as I've been married 10 years stuff has been shown to be hollow.

In his Barnsley press conference he's referenced their chairman's desire to employ him as a contributory factor - typical football platitude clap trap I realise - however
Corney gave him a long contract when his stock was lower.... and this is how he repays that. It's a poor show. He's just as greedy and disloyal as the rest. His talk was just that. I shouldn't be surprised.... But I was duped by his media persona.

For those of you wanting to retort with..... 'If you were offered more money you'd change jobs'.... I have been in the past and I didn't.... Because I didn't feel it right for my career. For those of you who'd then respond... ''He obviously felt it right for his career'.... I don't believe he had to move with 15 games to go in the position we are.

Joe Royle could've gone to City... It didn't do his career any harm that he didn't. Johnson could've and should've stayed in respect of his former chairman's backing, for the players he had signed and for support he had received from everyone else from the club who gave him his first managerial job.

He's therefore a charlatan in my eyes.... And I shall ignore him and not waste my energy on him or
Tommy Wright, who was on the football scrap heap after Chesterfield.

Deano, you have my
complete support. The very best to you & Locky. Use our former manager's lack of respect for everyone else as motivation. Let's give this the best shot we can.
