To be fair, Barnsley are a bigger club than us. But I think Cooper would recognise more than most the risk of moving from a club doing well to a struggling one midway through the season.

You could say all that about Pompey, for example, and why would anyone want to go there.

FWIW, I reckon Cooper is one of those managers who just fits a certain club at the perfect time. If he moves on I doubt he would achieve much.

But at least he is sane

Agree with cooper with club fit.... Pretty much like our messiah:hail:

Just that cotterill is a character, that absolutely every discerning fan from any club, would appreciate

Was there any truth in the story about Power telling Cooper that he had to play 2 strikers or was it more bullshit from the press? IF there was any truth, it might point to the fact that everything isn't rosy between them?

It didn't come from the press, it came from one of your fans.

But it remains to be seen. We've played with two up front all season bar one game so you can't really read much into us picking two strikers in our next few games.

Fair enough Mike, I didn't know that.

I would be very surprised if Cooper comes to us. Shocked, in fact. Can't understand why he'd leave a club on the up for a team who've stagnated for the past 9 years, and even if we are slightly "bigger" and have a bit more money I don't think we've got the amount that might tempt him. My glass half full side says it shows we're being ambitious, but my glass half empty side says we're going to be publicly rejected, again.

I am sure Cooper will be relieved that some club are interested in rescuing him from the Jeremy Kyle town of Swindon.

Why is Derry 3rd favourite?! He was like 30/1 yesterday... - which weirdo is chucking (losing) money on that?

Has there been any talk about our manager in Barnsley. With him being an ex Barnsley player, I've not really heard anything from your end. Our media asked him about it and he was quick to say he has no plans to jump ship.

Old dinosaurs like Wilson have had their days.... O'driscoll has a cushy f.a coaching job doesn't he ?

Gills manager was non league wasn't he ? .... Certainly had a good start...

There's been a few mutterings on our main forum and I see him as a more realistic candidate than Cooper. I think we'll end up going for someone in League 2 though, possibly John Sheridan at Plymouth or Gareth Ainsworth at Wycombe. If we're going down the route of poaching other team's managers, I'd love to see Graham Alexander at Fleetwood here personally. However, for me and a lot of our fans, Uwe Rosler remains the ideal candidate. And he's just turned down 1860 Munich who are struggling in the Bundesliga.2. Obviously to join us instead.

Rosler would be an excellent appointment regardless of his performance at Wigan.

I think Barnsley will end up with someone much shitter though.

Because he's doing a fantastic job with a club who, with the greatest of respect, barely anyone had even heard of until relatively recently. Also seems like a passionate bloke getting the best out of (from what I've seen) a fairly limited squad. I probably sound patronising as shite here but that's my view of things. I don't think he'd come to us though.

James Beattie and Shefki Kuqi will probably apply.

I reckon he'd take it if offered it tbh.

I don't think Barnsley will look at him though

Graham Alexander is doing alright but I wouldn't say he's doing a fantastic job

I obviously don't know the ins and outs of your club, it's finances etc., but I would say upper mid-table (which you look capable of at the moment) in League One would be a fantastic achievement. I know all the promotions you've had recently haven't been down to Alexander but he's still doing a great job imo.

Probably the same weirdos who throw money on Robinson every time his name is mentioned.

Also, I'm not saying its going to happen, but last season didn't the oxford manager leave when they were in a good position to join Northampton when they were in danger of relegation?

I don't see Cooper leaving but there's always that chance.

hope they got Cooper purely to derail Swindons promotion push. Would be a very odd move for him though Imo.

Could do worse than Craig Hignett? Barnsley connection and is respected as a coach.

Oxfords fans absolutely despised Wilder though, he didn't have much job security. IIRC they had awful home form and they got booed at most home games. Cooper doesn't have it the same way, Swindon fans love him.

Just like they now despise Appleton.

Apparently the football was boring at Oxford under Wilder, under his management we are top scorers in the league. Odd.

You don't want Ainsworth, having half a good season and the bloke is a thundercunt
