Actually a few decent places to drink in Mansfield it's just a away fan can't really go to most of them without getting in trouble.

Shame really, only thing it's got going for it is it's easy to get to normally if you travel by car/coach. Not even connected to a main train line lol.

Barnet is a favourite, more so at Underhill with the pub on the corner. I miss that pub. And Underhill.

Underhill is still there almost exactly as we left it 3 years ago. Floodlights, Stands, and most other things all intact. Grass has got a bit long but surprisingly no vandalism anywhere. The Pub on the corner(old red lion) closed about a year after we left because of lack of trade with no away supporters. It is now Houses. For those away supporters that came to the Hive in our first 2 seasons and were not impressed with the away end, then think about a re-visit as there is now a near 2000 Seated Stand, with underneath a massive away bar. Last season, both Luton and Grimsby fans filled the away end and were very complimentary about the facilities afforded to them, and showed great respect by leaving it undamaged. This season in a friendly with Millwall, their supporters were chanting Shit ground great Bar. Further developements at the Hive to start at the end of this season include, Home end like away end but with multi-storey carpark on the rear. Acadamy Building behind away end with classrooms. Sports hall for Basketball/Netball to be built on training pitch behind away end, and one of the 3g pitches is to be fully enclosed for indoor use. For those wondering where the money is coming from, apart from our Chairman being very rich and very prudent, He sold Underhill to Ark Acadamy for a school(which the council has refused planning for because of congestion and also saying it is greenbelt and should be for sport purpose only HA HA) for 14 million quid.

The new bar at Barnet is really good to be fair. Not as good as having a real pub or two near the ground but a huge improvement on previous seasons

When we visited The Hive, the bar was at the side of the pitch, which was ok. Bit small, but did a job.

It's obviously us. As a home fan living in a different city, I get the train in every game as an away fan would and it's so nice to be able to roll in, hit a couple of decent pubs and stroll down to the ground. ML is class too, if a bit big for our needs.

Other ones I enjoy in this league are Crewe, Cheltenham and Cambridge - all relatively simple trips on the train, decent grounds and towns with stuff to do. Lincoln will be good as well.

Are there any simple trips from Nottingham, or this from where you live. When I visited earlier this year, it did strike me that for a big city, it isn't half a pain in the arse to get to. Boneshaker from Crewe to Derby and then I presume the train from Derby to Nottingham was being pulled by two blokes with one of those things you have to lift up and down to make it go.

Grimsby. LOL
Yep, must be crap hardly ever winning there. Think the only time you have won at BP in the last 10 years, you didn't even sell half the tickets because it was too cold or it was Christmas or something.

Not many exciting away days in prospect but Notts and Carlisle are decent.

Ha, I'm Leicester which has got better connections because you can get to Nuneaton, Birmingham, Sheffield and Peterborough easily and go north that way.

Anywhere south from Notts is fine but, as with loads of places, the service going north is in massive need of an upgrade.

I'd say Notts and Leicester are pretty similar, as the big trains only go one way. You get the little trains going cross-country. At least it's on one of those main 3 train lines that run down the country.

Leicester is far better in that respect. You can get there from Chesterfield as quick as Nottingham and it's twice the distance.

I like Luton away. old grounds are becoming rare, and despite going through someones house to get in, its a cracking atmosphere.

Some good memories of a few good wins there too, and a few times we got hammered. Always a great atmosphere and thats what league two misses a lot of the time

Barnet away is ok until you get to the stadium. I felt like I was at a high school when I arrived last season.

Ricoh is not great but you've got the casino that has good food and competitive beer prices.
Where else can you go and lose £500 before the match and the walk ten yards to see the game.
There are decent pubs a short walk, though one or two are no gos for away fans so chose carefully.
Yes we all miss Highfield Road but we have to move on. I would say when the Ricoh has 18-20 and more in it the noise is really good , before someone says it has been that full in the old days.
Its not great but its not the worst by any means

Fixture list not been to kind date wise for me this season, along with refusing to give money to Barnet, FGR and Cheltenham my favourite should be Coventry or Carlisle.

FGR.

Vegans, hippies, eco warriors, leftists and so on. Plus, or so I'm informed, their owner also likes to help out the Labour Party with donations every now and then. The St. Pauli of English football IOW, although that coveted title will be in jeopardy if Dulwich Hamlet ever make it to the FL.

Then of course, there's THAT HILL, which of course does wonders for aiding one in getting rid of that protruding beer belly and unsightly man boobs.

Everything that is WRONG with a football club, in other words.:told:

It was a strange atmosphere when I went to watch us at Highfield Road as it was your first season out of the Prem and your fans wanted Strachan out.
So much so in fact that before the game we were in a pub chatting to some Coventry fans and they all said they hoped Grimsby would win so Strachan would get the sack!
We duly obliged 1-0 (despite you hitting the post twice late on, proper hanging on we were) and Strachan was sacked that weekend, no need to thank us. :bg1:

I'd love a casino in Lincoln but we're not allowed!

I am not recommending actually spending money in the casino, but the food is really good the last few seasons and the beer is competitive.
ive never spent a penny in a casino and I'm 54 so ive done well, just never interested me,though my only bet is the annual Grand National loss
