For Liverpool it must be Alexis Sanchez. What a coup that would have been.

A manager rather than player, but we'd agreed terms with Don Revie to leave Leeds' backroom staff and become Bournemouth manager, but couldn't afford the £6,000 Leeds wanted to release him. Leeds then decided to make him their manager instead, and the rest is history as they say.

You might be familiar with the Adam Lallana story, but he did eventually net us £5-6m thanks to Liverpool buying him and a long held scrap of paper someone at Southampton's youth dept once signed and forgot about. So we didn't exactly do badly out of that.

Paul Rideout the Everton legend, came from Bournemouth and passed through the local youth football circles totally undetected.

Charlie Austin agreed terms here to move from Poole Town, before he started his prolific professional career with Swindon/Burnley etc, but the Football League blocked the deal due to an embargo.

Harry Redknapp agreed to loan us a young Frank Lampard, before a midfield injury crisis hit and he threw Lampard into West Ham's first team instead. And he never looked back.

Brian Clough almost became Wales manager in the 80s. He accepted the job on a part time basis but Forest blocked it.

You're saying you'd rather have him than Sir Eddie Howe?

Considering he managed Leeds between 1961-1974 and has been dead for 27 years, I'd say history would have been a little different had that happened. And I highly doubt he'd still be in charge.

If you are who I think you are, what took you so long? I remember you posting quite frequently on the old 1FF.

Yeh I'm the same person.

I've known about this forum for years, it was similar to to the other forum so I just posted on that one
But now that one appears to be unavailable, so now I'll make the odd post on here.
It's educational and interesting reading about views and opinions of fans from other clubs, big and small.
