thought I'd post this here since a lot of the best Yorkshire teams are in the CH/L1. Looking at current form AND history, what would you say the top three Yorkshire teams are? I don't count Hull or Middlesborough in the slightest. They're not Yorkshire,

1. Sheffield U
2. Leeds
3. SWFC

It's fact that we are the top dogs in Yorkshire. Us and Leeds are the biggest 2 followed the likes of the Blades and Dingles.

We're Johnstone's Paint Trophy champions 2016, Walkley, the man has a fair point.
True, but Sheffield United aren't even the most successful club to have called Bramall Lane home

You clearly haven't considered current form otherwise all of Huddesfield, Rotherham, Bradford and Barnsley would be ahead of Sheff Utd.

There's a certain generation of football fans that probably don't even realise there's two teams in Sheffield.

Biggest club in Yorkshire is defo Sheff Weds . Followed by Leeds United. My favourite club though is Sheff Utd.

When deciding size some factor in potential, some historical honours but how far back do you go?

1st Leeds are the only club that is potentially a giant.
They have truly massive potential. It's similar size city to Sheffield with loads of rugby towns on the outskirts and only ONE club. The Sheffield clubs would need to merge to beat their potential.

Leeds, well out in front. Although their history only started in the early 60's, before that they were a nothing club and for decades were a rugby town (a bit like Wigan) but in the 70's they were one of the best sides in the world and are the only Yorkshire team to have a large world wide fanbase.

2nd Sheff Wednesday.
3rd Sheff United, slightly behind,

Seasons spent in the top flight are pretty similar with Wednesday edging it, cup wins United edge, league champions Wednesday edge. Average attendances historically Wednesday edge by just over 2,000. This century since 2001 average gates over the past 15 years is almost identical and average league position is almost identical.

However in the past 50 years United are the only Sheffield club to average over 30,000, in the 70's and in 2006 (the last time there). Of course Leeds have averaged over 30K many many times in the past 50 years.

4th Middlesboro (if you count them as Yorkshire). Historically smaller than SU but over recent history bigger based on seasons in the top flight. Fickle support but they turn up in good numbers when doing well.

5th Hull City, although all credit to them they are quickly catching up but to take 25,000 to today's match and averaging 17,000 gates in a promotion season is pretty poor. Also take away the last 10 years and Hull are a small club, no comparison to either Sheffield club.

Sheff United averaged 20,000 this season in one of their worse seasons in their entire history. We also outsold Hull in the semi final the other year and we were given extra tickets because Hull couldn't sell their tickets for the FA cup semi final either.

6th either Barnsley (had their moments), Huddersfield (mainly for a great pre war history) or Bradford (terrible history apart from 1 or 2 season in the PL but like Leeds have big potential).
