Super result. Was more than happy with the 1-1 but what a fantastic strike at the death to give us a great advantage going into the second leg. Thought we were poor for the first 20 minutes and when we missed the penalty I feared the worst but we carried on and probably edged the tie by the end of the match.

I should know better but never, ever underestimate this Swindon team. Roll on Monday.

Funny listening to Swindon players saying they know they've won nothing yet. Seems they've learned their lesson after November

The more and more you watch that keeper balls up - the worse it gets.

Absolute shocker.

Fuck me, we played them off the park. OK they had a chance or 2 but you've got to give Cooper credit for resting all those players and coming up with a fantastic 70 minute performance.

We'll fuck it up on Monday

I think you are getting a bit excited with that... We dominated 20 mins either side of halftime, but were under the cosh for the rest of the game.

Was grabbing a 1-1 with both hands with 15 mins to go, very happy with a 1 goal advantage. Still lots to do though.

Long term gains.
Not sure how I'm going to cope with the second leg, my nerves are shot to pieces.

Buzzing now though :woot:

Bet Swindon fans weren't expecting that after Gladwin's penalty shocker.

Flukey buggers ;)

That ref was pretty dire. The hand ball was pretty obvious but the one that got me was when he pulled back that free kick when the blades sub was away. Terrible decision.

Ref was poor but felt that Clough made a massive mistake putting Basham in defence. Thought we could dominate the midfield and so it proved second half. Surprised they didn't bring Doyle on to battle as Coutts, Scougall and Holt really offered little defensively.

Murphy took the piss first half and thankfully faded as the game went on, Done looked dangerous as always in his brief cameo.

For us - Kasim was outstanding, Byrne was always an out ball but needed to run at the lost Harris more after his yellow. The rest of the team put in par performances but we responded well to the early goal and I thought controlled the game for the most part.

Very nervy Monday set up, expect Sheffield United to be a force out wide again. Will be close I'd have thought. As always we will concede and probably score.

Mon Town, nearly there!

The Wednesday
FWIW United dominated the early exchanges and should have had a penalty at 0-0, Freemans goal woke Swindon up and Byrne in particular was a menace down the United left.

Howard denied them from the spot and United should have taken full advantage but failed to really test Fotheringham.

The injury to Brayford cost United, it meant changing an already disrupted back four and Basham who had been doing a screening job was replaced in the middle by the impish Scougall.

United never look at it in the early exchanges of the second half and much like Sunday conceded early into the period.

The game then opened up and perhaps United were hard done to by the Done incident, from watching it on tv I called foul straight away but perhaps i'm a tad biased. The Davies miss was inexcusable, from that range.

The referee then infuriated you lot with his decision on the booking/Done through ball, hard one to call, the ball was 40 yards ahead of him as he'd whistled, perhaps he should have let it go on.

Howard then undid all his hardwork with that Byrne goal, though you'd question how he'd be given that space at that time of the game.

Still think the Blades lot can get a result down there mind, like they did at Bristol City.

Cant disagree with that. Do think the advantage should have been played, if he'd waited one second it would've been clear. Possible foul on Flynn as well although he had already taken the shot.

Disappointing night but miracles can happen....i hope.

Easy for Clough to say they had a goal disallowed but our players were playing to the ref's whistle and had stopped.

Not sure the 'goal'would have been scored otherwise.

Def penalty in the first half, though - clear handball.

Bring it on Monday!

Who knows what can happen monday. Theres only one thing we can do and that is actually play for a win for a change. But in all honesty a preston v swindon final is what they both deserve there both much better than us.

Console yourself with trips to the likes of Wigan, Blackpool, Bury, Burton and Shrewsbury next year mush, i haven't been to the latter two myself.
