Someone should probably teach you how betting works. Just because that's where the money is going on the market by exclusively the betting public doesn't materialise into common opinion.

And yeah, we're still a better overall unit. Ward, Bishop, Williams, Berra, Webster, Bialkowski and perhaps Lawrence all make it onto your team sheet IMHO.

Imagine being below the god awful Ipswich come 5pm. You've won 1 in 7 and lost the last 3, FFS.

I don't think it will be easy by ANY stretch of the imagination, but I just about fancy us and stand by the fact that you will struggle to score against us. It's whether or not the same can be said for us at the other end; that decides this game. If we don't score I think the sensible money goes on 0-0.
This shouldn't become a slanging match, we're both level on points, both sets of fans will fancy it but we'll go into it as slight favourites as we're at home.

It's alright you just listing players that you think would get into our side, but until you actually look at our side it renders it invalid. Jonny Williams to get into our side ahead of Reid or Tomlin, give me a break.

Again, our two centre halves have been decent, that's not our defensive problem, so we wouldn't be needing both Webster and Berra. Could do with Chambers if he still plays full back though.

We'll see how this ends up come 5pm Saturday, after all the build-up in this thread if it wasn't already destined to be a dull shitfest, it is now.

A bit cocky these Ipswich supporters. I will quite enjoy their reaction after the game on Saturday.
Losing to Brighton, Brum away and Reading away while making a boat load of chances, refereeing apologies and opposition GK's getting MOTM in our last 2 matches would suggest to me that a bit of humility would be the most prudent action.
We're a decent side, as you'll see on Saturday if you can get down off your overblown egos in time.

Stuff 'em City!

Something common among fans of sides who once were in the Premier League, I've found

Course it is. He called to apologise for errors, not because they were deliberately screwing you over.
has anyone actually said we are being deliberately screwed over?
We have a lot go against us and an apology was issued because of how shit the last ref was.
Do I think there's any anti Bristol City agenda among the referees? No, but I am free to lament the number of very poor decisions against us recently.

Yes.

3 clear and major errors against us in the same game aren't mistakes nor incompetence imo.

The referee apologised to us after he failed to give us a penalty at home to Newcastle in the last minute. Shit happens.

Fair enough. Don't personally agree with that, but think the standard of refs is particularly poor this year and some have been inclined to favour the historically bigger sides. Without thinking hard I can name at least 7 different incidents, so I'm sure if I properly thought about it I could name well into the double digits, which is frankly shocking.

The standard of refereeing as a whole needs to drastically improve. As someone who watches the Western League (9th tier) fairly regularly I can honestly say that overall the referees they have are more consistent and as a whole better than the ones I have witnessed in the championship this season, and that simply should not be the case.

Ha wow! Think we're the most realistic fans in the championship baring in mind we've been here so long.

From what I've read of this thread it's been a bit of a mines bigger than yours on both sides until one takes the cocky route!

One question about the stat on most shots mentioned somewhere on this thread, is the stat about purely shots or is it shots on target, shots inside the box? Frankly you can be shooting all over the pitch and it would count, doesn't mean you've done anything special!
What we're good at is keeping the opposition out of our box and making them work for their goals.

Don't go blaming the refs as well please, you're not the only ones to be done over.

Just hope we've practiced defending corners after last seasons mare!

I didn't see any qualifier on the shots stat, but our side is very reluctant to shoot from outside the box- and from the results the times they have, rightly so!

He isn't a prolific as before, but I don't think any of Abrahams goals for us have been from more than 10 yards or so, Wilbrahams have all been inside the box, and we are very guilty of trying to walk the ball in, but still have the most shots.

You do seem to have a very good defensive record, but I can guarantee we will cause the defense to trouble as we have done in every game this season.

I'm only messing Tom. As for the 'shots stat', it's shots at goal, not necessarily shots on target.
As for the 'blaming the ref' thing, I'm normally one who tries to support officials but on Saturday, 3 awful and obvious decisions cost us 3 points so I will slate the utter dimwit officials at the Mad stad. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt normally, split second decision, obscured view etc but these 3 were shocking, even to an old bugger like me. I genuinely don't think I've ever seen a more inept or one sided performance by a group of officials. It was genuinely THAT bad as most Reading fans would admit.

Fair enough! Wish I could make it on Saturday, told myself I'd go this year to see your new stand complete as didn't go last year, but got a bloody exam next week so had to take the sensible approach :err:

We had two perfectly good goals disallowed in the space of a week at the start of the season, costing us two victories and instead drew both meaning 4 points lost. We'd be looking a bit rosier with those 4 points although we've still been performing shockingly at times

Looks like you've sold a decent number as well, 150 left of your allocation which was presumably 1,200.

I said we're 'decent', not bloody Barca, that's rovers. I was questioning that some of your fans 'expect' to beat us and I feel you're underestimating us at your peril. I 'hope' we beat you but would never 'expect' to, hence my 'arrogant' comment.
Back in your box now eh pet? Bless!

I'm quite surprised at how confident both set of fans are on this thread. We've been poor for over two months now. Can't see where our next win is coming from. We don't turn up in the first half so the games are pretty much gone when we start playing.

As for the reading game, yes the Ref was terrible but we didn't actually create much in that second half. We may have looked half decent but that was only due to Reading sitting back.

Yeah, I said that in the thread after the game on Saturday, we didn't deserve anything from that game after the first 20 minutes. They absolutely killed us.

Exactly. Referees make mistakes and all teams can point to games where decisions have affected the result, there's nothing special about any particular team.

It's a standard midtable Championship clash - both sides see it as an opportunity to push on. I agree that some people seem a little overconfident though.

There is Veggie Legs, you haven't seen the amount of shite we've had from referees this season so you can't comment.

I haven't moaned about it once until last week but that one tipped me over the edge. It's a disgrace.

You're right, I can't comment on whether you've been particularly unlucky with decisions going against you.

I can comment on the reasons for it, and if you think it's because referees have got it in for you or are deliberately getting things wrong then you should probably stop posting in this section and take yourself to johnnytodd's flat earth thread.

I don't think any of us have said refs have it in for us, just that the officials on Saturday were bloody awful!

Now you're misquoting us, no-one's claimed that any officials have a vendetta against us, merely that we've been on the wrong end of some shocking decisions this season.

Or not...

Back on the subject of the game, McCarthy named his team yesterday:

Bialkowski
Chambers, Webster, Berra, Knudsen
Ward, Skuse, Douglas, Lawrence
Varney, McGoldrick

Same as last week, which is hard to argue with based on the result. Seems an odd choice to make it public two days before the game though.

Genuine question, where do the goals come from in that team?
