Moore has signed from Lens. I know nothing about the lad, but must be decent for City to pay £1.5m for a 19 year old. Think his fluency in French could help Kodija too.

Would like to see us get in another striker, and I think we're set for the season. We've done very well, a marked difference from a year ago.

So permanent players: Tomlin, O'Dowda, Moore, Magnusson, O'Neil, Brownhill, De Giorlamo, Lucic and Smith and loaning in Abraham and Matthews while not selling any key squad members.

Yet.

And all without a net spend thanks to the Bolasie sell on.

I didn't add the yet, because at this stage of the window if anyone tries buying a first team player off us I expect we will rinse them for all its worth and well beyond the players' actual value. We've got adequate cover in all positions (except striker) and even if someone made a big I expect we'd have a number of targets lined up to move quickly for if needed.

Kieran Richardson spotted at the Gate today. Could've wanted to try out the coffee shop I guess.

Few drinks in the sports bar before heading into town later; he's a free agent after all.

Why do otib think that Johnboy going back to 3-5-2
Could be an option now, and could be a way of getting Tomlin, Kodjia and Abraham all in the same side. But some people can't seem to get their heads round the idea of competition or that just because you sign a player doesn't make him an automatic starter

I can't see how 3-5-2 is a real option, like you say it's competition and that.

I thought I missed something

Just listening to LJ's press conference and he does say specifically how he's suited to playing on the right side of a 3. But he also mentioned his capability as a holding mid as well, think he was just making the point about his versatility.

Holding spot is crowded.

Need a striker or a attacking midfielder

I am surprised that they haven't shipped more out on loan, apparently Cheltenham and Yeovil would be used to send the kids out but hasn't really happened

Jonny Smith went to Cheltenham didn't he? And we've sent a few of the development squad out to non-league clubs, McCoulsky's been banging them in for Weston

Yeah he did but benched for last 2 and not convinced Gary the right manager for him.

The two were making out that we be sending everyone out to get games.

We did go 3-5-2 against Newcastle for the last 15 minutes or so. But an attacking variation.
I wouldn't expect us to start in a 3-5-2, but Johnson has made us fluid in our formation during matches- something Benitez highlighted and was wary of.

Feel it's a really good sign of where we're at and where we're going as a club that Ayling and Williams, 2 players who I think will go on to have decent careers at this level, have been deemed surplus to requirements.

Williams is a big mistake letting him go.

I can only feel that it's Lee waving his willy around wanting to do it with his own players.

Really? Just about good enough for League One and certainly not up to the Championship. I'd take it with a pinch of salt but someone mentioned 800k fee which would be daylight robbery.

Depends if Ekstrand is coming in, fee for Williams and free transfer in bringing in Ekstrand. JE was supposedly very good for Watford pre injury, if we can get him back to that sounds like we'd have upgraded.

Wouldn't be surprised as he had 2 years left on his deal.

Yes I rated him as the best defender at the club was just not a lwb and when put in a 3 with flintaine and Ayling was always left to try mop it up.

He can be a championship cb in a 4 very easily.

You watch him he will be in the prem at 26

Williams in the Prem?

He will be in league one with Blackburn next season. He may improve but he hasn't progressed over the last three years like I'd hoped or expected.

Can't say I agree mate, have to agree with David in that Williams hasn't progressed much while he's with us, just as good now as when he joined. With Hordur and Flint at CB he's not getting a look in anytime soon and I imagine Moore is now first choice replacement at CB. If its true that we've got £800,000 for him that's good work for someone who has barely played in the championship.

His ability to deal with aerial balls for one, being a big asset of his. Flint improved massively last season when we reverted to 4 at the back.

I believe Williams will go on to be a good Championship defender, but to say he's better than Flint or the best defender at the club is absurd.

No Ive always said that I don't rate flint.

He can deal with ariel threat with a punt up field.

He has a nasty temper on him that is go to get him a serious ban.

I just don't like him much
