Cotteril on freeman, lifted from otib

This makes interesting viewing. Quote from SC "I won't pay over the odds for him....not when I can get him for free in the summer....and I've already spoken to his agent. Straight as a dye this game"

"If it gets to the point where we've got to pay a little bit over the odds, because come the summer there'll be a bigger market for him and we won't get him, then I'll speak to the board about that"

Summer where Mark Ashton and Cotterill were both at the club- 7 signings
Summer with just Cotterill and no Mark Ashton- 1 signing
Summer with Mark Ashton and Lee Johnson- 9 signings (permanent only)
First 4 days of January window with Mark Ashton and Lee Johnson- 3 signings

I'm sure it is entirely coincidental that the summer without him there were no signings other than Kodjia...

Yeah you mean the summer where Cotteril had Gray, Maguire and another lined up and Lansdown fucked the deals?

So Ashton has managed a total of 19 signings in spite of Lansdown then?
Can't have it both ways.

Rumour was it was Pelling who fucked up which is why he was gone not long after, but sure blame it on lansdown

The version I heard was it was Lansdown, either way that is a higher calibre of player.

Ekstrand signed as an experienced player who Ashton was expected would be involved more (LJ's decision) and Diego has done well in the 23's and LJ has said he contemplated putting him in the first team, instead loaned for experience, he's what 21? Bryan, Reid and Burns were all loaned out at older ages deemed not good enough for first team.

I'm sure you are aware of Gray being a done deal @ 4mil
I'm aware that Pelling fucked something up and lost his job as a result.
Must have been Lansdowns fault though.

As for the signings, they included our best defender and almost all of them have been with an eye on the future.
In the interview linked above he even states how he didn't expect some to get quite as much game time as they have (Magnusson).
In the last 4 days we have brought in a striker kept of of his national side by Edin Dzeko and a 7 in 14 goal record for what is (with respect to them) a not particularly great national side and a midfielder with Champions League experience for Bayer Leverkusen and has just left the side 3rd in the Bundesliga. Oh, and a CB with Championship experience.

No I didn't factor those in, though how you've labelled De Girolamo as dross shows how clueless your posts are.

Right.....

Can I borrow your glasses
So you're maintaining that one of the best players in our u23s and one that LJ has stated multiple times is unlucky that he has Tomlin ahead of him to stop him getting first team games is "dross"? I personally wouldn't be shocked if De Girolamo was in the squad today, I don't expect he will be, but as with McCloughsky, Vyner and Dowling we have seen that repeated good performances on loan/in the youth sides will lead to a chance.
Ekstrand is also far from dross, but unfortunately injuries mean it didn't work out. That signing was a low risk deal, but always a risk because of his injury problems.

McCoulsky should be a chance in the first team.

Being good in the u23 proves nothing though and even they are getting done every week .

Also Lemon heighs should be more prominent but isn't getting the chance seems to be a lot of if I didn't sign them I don't want them mentality going on

So who has been farmed out to Guernsey?

Edit- I see there are 2 players there.
If it's for them to develop what is the issue? You seem to have a problem that we have signed players for the future, but also have a problem that our younger prospects are being allowed on loan somewhere to get first team football and develop themselves.

What does that mean?
If S82 are in the Heineken corner, it would be in front of the corporate lounge in that corner which I don't think would be accepted.
In the Dolman / South corner, no corporate stuff is affected and nobodies view is spoilt should those in that corner stand up.
I think it's a very good proposal.

Local so means he can still spend some time training with City, at the desired standard and most importantly LJ can trust the manager.

I don't agree with Charlie Adam on much but he's right about players being farmed out to Guernsey. A complete waste of time at a horrendous standard where they can only play half the games.

Its terrible when he scores a hat-trick on debut against Leicester U23's (with Ben Hamer in goal) in the cup.
