My first game was only 14 years ago, but I'm pretty sure the first year I had a ST was 06/07 when we got promoted from L1.

Will be 27 years for me come August. I know it's been longer for ciderup.

Not a point against you Ciderup or anything, as you say it's your life and your money, no one else's to say what to do with it; but everytime we lose a few or are struggling near the bottom you always get people coming out saying "Oh I've been going since the 30s and it's never been this bad, I've never felt this out of love with the club bla bla..." and you just think really? Is it really? Hey it's all personal opinion and that but it's not like we're this hugely successful club or anything, you'd think people would be used to by now. Heck, I feel like I'm numbed to it all now and I've been going barely more than a decade. We've dropped down from this level many times before and we will do many times again in the future. That's the lot of the lower league fan. But, hey, every time's the worst ever.

And I get that it's the false hope that kills you and with all the stuff off the pitch with the stadium development there's the feeling that this is where it could all change. But tbh last time we went down we were a lot worse and there was a greater sense of hopelessness back then, for me at least. Let alone for people who were around back in the 80s, if you've stuck around this far and managed to survive to this point as a City fan you'd think this would be kinda standard. And it's hardly inconcievable we could still stay up and push on, we're hardly doomed yet

c.3000 up in Noo-cassel today, we'll almost certainly lose, probably get battered - but that'd be true virtually anytime we play them. We'll all get pissed, have a bit of a sing-song, have a laugh, and do it all again next year, and the year after. That's the fun of it. Who'd be a fucking City fan in the first place otherwise.

Anyway, semi-drunken sermon over, sorry if you got this far. COYR!!
Great post CH and certainly no offence taken.
As you say, it's a personal choice and down to the individual. Personally, I've reached a point where I feel a break is needed so will take one. It doesn't mean my love for the club is any less but, as mentioned, the symptoms and circumstances mentioned mean I feel it's the right thing to do.
While I've been going to the Gate for a long time, I wish I wasn't old enough to have accumulated that many years and would never intentionally use that to 'preach' to anyone. If it comes across that I have, please accept my apologies.
Maybe, if and when LJ's gone my opinion will change but, at the mo, I stand by my actions. The new wallpaper looks good anyway and the wife's stopped moaning ;)
I hope that clarifies my thoughts. All strength to all fellow reds.

Been going less than a decade? That makes me feel old.
First game was in 2000 and was brought along now and then after but first had a ST for the playoff final year. I thought that was the norm....

Yeah fair enough. And don't worry, no offense taken at all haha, just my general feelings really not directed at you

Coming home "absolutely furious" after a game of football. Maybe you just need to chill out a bit then. Even after Trevor Kettle made me want to kill him and his whole family last season against Wolves I'd calmed down and moved on by the time I got home 20 minutes later. It's a game of football at the end of the day.

Yes, that's why I've taken the decision I have. Normally, I'm pretty passive and football is a release after a good shout and bawl but it hasn't been lately.
It would never effect anyone else but I haven't enjoyed it for a while and Wednesday made me decide to do what I'm doing.
No drama queen stuff at all, just a decision to take a break.
Thanks for the lifestyle advice though. :)

19 points dropped from winning positions this season, would be enough to put us level with Preston in 8th! :ffs:

I just thought why bother mate? I wouldnt give pricks like him a second of time in real life, so why bother on some forum. Plus I cant win really. He abuses me, nobody bats an eyelid. I give it back and everybody jumps in defending him because he's part of the "clique". One can never win in that situation so Im outta here. Can someone in admin please delete my account from this crappy forum.
