I'd also like to see some figures regarding coaching badges etc etc before fully wading into this argument. I would add that if anyone really thinks football isn't racist at a boardroom level probably thinks match fixing doesn't happen. The majority of boardroom's in English professional football make Mayfair old boys clubs look open minded.

We should throw this further though, to a group of society that does have well numbered qualified coaches - women. Why are there no women, even as assistants and coaches?

Because women are only allowed physio jobs so the crowd can make humorous comments and catcalls when they're doing something like this...

This picture was used by a lot of media outlets ironically to accompany a story about her receiving sexist abuse from the crowd...type her name in on Google too, and the second picture has her in her underwear...

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

But he’s not finished yet. He says black players still come in for different treatment. Liverpool’s England international Raheem Sterling was recently labelled greedy after asking for £100,000 a week wages (though some Premier League players get paid far more), and lambasted for inhaling laughing gas, or “hippy crack” as some newspapers referred to it. Sterling has been treated too harshly by the media, Campbell says. “He’s one of the most talented English players coming out of this country. Do not destroy him. Wayne Rooney did a lot of stuff, he got some flack, but it was almost overlooked. ‘Oh, you’ve been a bad boy, let’s overlook it again.’ Raheem Sterling is one of the most talented men coming out of this country. Wake up. PFA, wake up, press wake up and protect this boy.” He breaks down every word into its own sentence to stress the point. “Do. Not. Destroy. That. Man. Yes, he’s young, yes, things will happen, and pay him the money because he’s worth it.”

So stupid. Has Raheem Sterling really been treated too harsly? And did Wayne Rooney really get away with a lot of the stuff he did?

Honestly never minded Sol Campbell as a player, but he seems like a proper douche bag.

The English have loved to hate Rooney despite him being one of the most talented players we've produced in the past decade. Complete bullshit.

Taylor is quoted as denying either conversation ever took place in that article so it's hard to gauge how much of this is true. It would be shocking if something like this, however unofficial or hush hush, were found to be true though.

It reads like bullshit though really, true or not. "Graham Taylor confessed this to me privately but he will never admit it publicly", great way to discredit any denial then. "I have no reason to make it up", so you're not publishing it in a book intended for sale? Ah ok.
It's totally believable that the FA would do this, but the story is weak without evidence. If he could have gotten Taylor to acknowledge it as true then it'd be interesting but as is it's total guff.

Not necessarily total guff. It could be entirely true, but without any other evidence it weakens the author's case. Interesting that Taylor says he doesn't recall being told that. Not recalling something and flat denying it happened are different. Taylor has used ambiguous language, maybe intentionally. maybe not.

I think it's probably true. If you wanted to make it up you wouldn't include people who can just flat out deny it.

All that stuff about him being a baldy hair transplant granny shagger was totally glossed over.

I thought the same thing. A very odd choice of words.

It might be as simple as no such thing ever having happened and Taylor just wants to protect himself in case he made up some bollocks after 3 bottles of wine at a do. I'm a little suspicious though.

This thread js a bit of a joke really, given the state of the game with the commercial interests these days; if someone is up for the job and is going to reap the rewards that bring in the cash, they'll get the job regardless of whether they have a tan or not; what's more of a mystery is why there are little or no Asian people involved in the game at any level in this country and in Europe, but that's another phenomena.

As has been mentioned by a few others, Mr Hasselbaink seems to be showing how it's done at Burton, and long may it continue. With the amount of 'black' players involved in the game at the present level, it is inevitable that management careers will follow for a few of them, but as we've seen with white players, being a good player, and seemingly intelligent and game wise with it, doesn't necessarilly equip you as management material - Bobby Charlton anyone?

Sol Campbell? What has he done since leaving Portsmouth?
