And Roy Hodgson has won more than both of them but I don't rate him either. A single FA Cup win in a relegation season doesn't make Martinez a better manager than Rodgers.

Barkley cries every morning when he wakes after realising his dream of being Philippe Coutinho was just that.
It makes him a more successful one i agree.

I'm not sure he does, ones a Brazilian footballer who has moved from a beautiful climate and very horny women to live in the outskirts of Liverpool surrounded by orange slags, added to that been dropped from his international squad...........the other is Ross Barkley :cool1:

Everton have missed the boat, they are restricted so much by their stadium, missed opportunities for a new ground has put them back years. You simply need the revenue to compete unless you have billionaire owners who are willing to bankroll for sucess.

He sees the relegation battle ahead with his current team, wise choice for a player who is going places.

I'm sorry to say it but the answer is no. We'll definitely improve on last season- I'm thinking we'll finish between 9th and 7th, or maybe 6th if we're very good and Tottenham continue to have a terrible season- but we won't be able to get into the top four yet. We've got a decent side and Martinez is a class manager but the top five teams will just have too much quality.

Can Martinez really be defined as a class manager? As in class from a quality perspective? I'm not sure. Did decent enough with Swansea and got them promoted to the Championship. Then numerous campaigns with Wigan struggling and barely staying up before they won the FA Cup with him but, partly as a result of that cup run, being relegated. Then arguably his best season as a manager, taking Everton to 5th before going back to what is more indicative of his actual quality in my view when they finished 11th last season. Despite the FA Cup under his belt, he's definitely not been an improvement on Moyes and I see little more than season after season of upper mid-table finishes with the odd flirtation with the Europa spots with him at the helm.

Mind you aren't you the same person who said West Ham had no chance at Liverpool with their awful record......:brill:

well you continually judge clubs on their trophy cabinet to suit your argument, and yet do not you the same principal with a manager........just seems a tad bitter?

When Moyes was in charge the target was about 4th-6th, but then City got there millions and Tottenham drastically improved (though hopefully they'll slip back and allow us to take advantage). It would be very hard for Martinez to improve on what Moyes did, and so far he's done a good job in my opinion. In his first season he got us up to fifth, and we played far better football that season then we ever did under Moyes, and then he made us real contenders in the Europa league (though that did come at a cost). It's hard to compare him and Moyes, considering how long Moyes was with us, but I believe that Martinez is a manager who can get his teams to play some very good football even if he isn't guaranteed to win you silverware. I'd say he is a class manager- like Moyes he's not a manager who'll win loads of silverware, but unlike Moyes he wants his teams to play a better brand of football. He's never really had a job at a really top club so this makes him difficult to judge compared to other "class" managers, but I'd say that he is a good manager certainly for a club like Everton.
