The Carabao Cup money is a fairly sizeable chunk of the EFL payments, it's just a split of gate receipts I think?

Home to Harrogate.

I suspect we'll make a few change with Moylan, Montsma, Hamer, Draper and Street all getting game time. Can't imagine we'll risk Montsma for more than 45/60 minutes, though.

9 changes for Mansfield, it would be ten but got nobody else to replace Aden Flint. Impossible to guess what formation but it looks attacking minded.

Three strikers on the pitch so should be fun, or even more likely disastrous!

8 changes for us, which is the most we can make. Montsma back in for his first start since March 2023!

We've gone 5 at the back - which we were absolutely wank at last season, so advantage Cobblers. Great.

It turns out our reserves + kids aren't quite as good as Blackburn's international-filled first team.

Who knew?

Probably not a 4-0 down in 25 mins type of bad though.

I can't even get on it, probably for the best at the moment. Could be 3 or 4 if it wasnt for the woodwork and a bit of luck for us. I've yet to see us put a good 15 minutes of football together over two pre-season games and the first two games of the season, this team is not ready for the season to start.

1-1 HT. Looking dodgy from set pieces but to be expected with 2 new centre backs and new keeper in goal.

Rathbone playing up front and struggling to get involved.

Let us know when the football season starts guys.

But nice to see the referee take action with time wasting. Hartridge, already on yellow... took an age over a free-kick, benefit of the doubt, then took an age sorting out his hair at a throw in...and got given a 2nd yellow. F knows why he thought the need to...we'll score our 1st goal in october sometime probably.

Sounds fucking dumb on Hartridge’s part.

I liked it in the early part of last season when the refs were genuinely coming down on timewasting, getting the bookings in.

But all refs seemed to start letting it slide again.

If the ref lets the players know not to dick about early doors, it makes for a better game.

lets hope we all get more red cards than injuries this season. Then we'll know its worked.

Oh Cobblers…we go down to 10 men through every fault of our own, then they get an injury having made all subs.

That’s some shit luck.

Sitting at home with some wonderful illness (I feel lousy) but that result cheered me up.

Good to see Khaleel get 90 minutes and a goal. I think there's a player there but then he disappears for months on end.

I’m hoping for Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle in the next round…that is, if Chelts don’t dump them out tomorrow night first.

Just saw the bit about money. I think the Bristol Motors trophy gives more money than this.

Pretty even game against Bolton finished 1-1, probably say we edged the first half they did the second.

Went to penalties and Bolton missed two before we missed any so bit silly to throw that away really.

Glad we’re out, league is the focus this season.

Much changed side, probably shaded the game but threw it away.

Always going to lose so hard to read too much into it. Minutes in the bank etc.

Good performance overall, quite content being out of this competition to be honest.

No doubt Evatt will claim the credit for signing the goalkeeper who won it for us on penalties. He will also come out with his same monotonous excuses about another excruciating performance.

I can’t recall the sums involved but yes, I think ever since the EPL bought off the competition by sticking their kids’ sides in, the bribe was that the prize money would be significantly more than it was.

Which is not saying that much, since I think teams would more or less *lose*money at most of the early stage games, given the shite gates, but still.

Would love to have heard Hurst’s HT team talk as whatever he said, worked wonders.

Rossiter, Shipley and O’Reilly were all outstanding in that second half, think those three are going to be crucial for us this season. Winning isn’t a bad thing either, especially after being two down. Hopefully this gives us plenty of confidence for the Peterborough game this weekend.
