Not the best of draws, quite a trek midweek ahead of Christmas. However ive got a bit of AL to use before end of the year, and its a new ground for me. Reckon ill head down there!

Midweek in Barrow and midweek in Bristol, so of course we were going to continue our UK tour with a midweek in Southampton.

That's 18 of our last 21 League Cup ties have been away from home now!

Of all the premier clubs left Leicester is a bit meh but hopefully a decent crowd and a full away end with Leicester supporters as it's an easy jaunt down from there.

Our game at Southampton was moved yesterday from Wednesday to Tuesday because of paramedic strikes, which is very short notice for people who've booked trains, planes, hotels and moved work schedules.

We've sold near our full allocation of 1,600 but I suspect a few of those tickets will be going back after the fixture change.

A short midweek trip to Southampton tonight and it doesn't sound like too many tickets were returned either, so fair play to everyone travelling down there on a midweek night, the week before Xmas and all the hassle and costs involved.

We've usually mixed it up a bit in terms of team selection but with no game last weekend and Boxing Day being Monday, we'll probably go as strong as we can. I doubt we'd risk anyone, though, if they weren't quite right.

No VAR in the League cup which could have come into use by the sounds of it on a couple of occasions.

Sounds like we've been decent and could have had more than one. Looks offside for their equaliser, the linesman is in a stinking position for it, he can't see, he's a yard behind play from a cross from the 18 yard box.

Shame about the result, but went toe to toe with what looks like a full strength Southampton side. Certainly didnt disgrace ourselves there.

Although 3-0 against a prem side isn't a disaster we hardly threatened all match. Pretty much the training day for Leicester that they wanted.

I think they may consider themselves lucky not to be taken to penalties (it was straight to penalties, right?!) or lose.

Bit ridiculous that. How can they not show a potential cup upset however unlikely it is. That’s what the cup is all about. Newcastle vs Leicester type games are something they show every week in the Prem.

Well they did us proud. 3-0 not really a fair reflection on the game, 3rd goal was offside and you really do get fuck all from the officials at Old Trafford.
