Bit of a shame though, isn't it? Most teams aren't going up or down, so why not have a crack at the cups?

Teams used to play way more games without constantly needing rests, so why all this wrapping up in cotton wool shite now?

Issue I think is its played midweek early season so for example most teams have 5 games in 15 days so rotating especially as some teams are getting up to speed still comes into it. I'd happily lose tomorrow to Burton if it means we are fresher to beat Salford Saturday.

I’m sure Burton got a decent financial reward last season for making it to the semi finals.

I still value this cup - reach the second/third round and you can potentially have a money spinning tie against a PL club.

Although I’ve never lost any sleep once we’ve been knocked out. Never seen us get beyond round three!

But why not go all out to win both? You're talking about Tuesday to Saturday not two games in two days. It's not like Salford aren't playing tomorrow either. Same goes for everyone else. This keeping players fresh thing is a load of shite. Look at tennis players playing every day, or cyclists in the tour or whatever.

I would rather win tomorrow and lose to Grimsby tbh. You can recover dropped points, but lose in the cup and that's it for another year. We're going to rest players too btw, which gives us even less chance of getting through, which pisses me off a bit.

I really enjoyed our run to the semis last year and we made about 750k from it.
What I did not enjoy was sitting in the top tier at the eithiad watching my team getting pulled apart - but hey ho.
Exposure was good and the money useful.
I'm not bothered this year. Would prefer the play offs, and let's be honest highly unlikely to emulate last seasons. Semi final so what's the point. Hope we go out, as long as its with no suspensions and injuries.
It is a good chance for a league 1 and 2 team to progress as prem teams do not take it serious until the semis.. So you never know...hope you all do well.
Except for Salford. Don't think I could face that.

Away at Charlton. We're going to struggle to fill the bench, so expect changes as we can't afford any more injuries. This means we're probably going to get a proper hiding, but you never know I suppose..

Remember back in the day you beat us in a friendly (yes I was there too). It could well happen again tomorrow.

Arranged as part of the Stuart Fleetwood deal, and the second last home game under Jim Harvey I think, before he was sacked just before our friendly v Leeds later that pre-season for talking to Cambridge/Stevenage.

Andy Mangan scored two just before his 6 month betting ban kicked in.

We were in a bit of financial shit back then, never thought we'd be playing a league cup tie at your place.

I don’t get the negativity to this cup at all. It’s a chance for income, national exposure and a little bit of glory (not necessarily in that order). The only other chance of this on a much smaller scale is the checkatwat (or what ever it is called nowadays) trophy, and let’s face it, at the moment few of us would want to go far in that due to the wankers at the EFL, well at least Shaun Harvey trying to fuck us all over.

As a lower league club (and the majority of us will always be so at best) what do you want? What do you support a football club for? To finish in mid table in the league, get the occasional promotion, or the occasional relegation.

What ever happened to wanting a bit of cup glory. We only get 3 cups per year, with one currently ‘not counting’. It’s a cup, one off excitement.

Sorry, but I want my team to do well in the cup, a run to the quarters etc brings excitement to the fans, income for the club and is something different to the league.

Saying that we’ve got no fucking chance of getting to the quarters

No idea if Donny will field 'fringe' players, but I expect us to be very near 'full strength' and hopefully get into the second round. We could do with some extra dosh, our police bills are extortionate!

Garbage, pointless competition. Hope we field youngsters and get out of it asap to focus on the important issues.

Was better when seeded as you'd usually get a decent draw if your in L2 i.e. a Championship outfit rather than Burton and bloody Lincoln City that we've had the two years since the scrapping of it!
Nah, I'd rather roll the dice and get an easier home tie with a potential Prem team in the second round. I have about the same level of excitement to play Donny or Burton as I do Derby or Huddersfield.

I don't really expect anything but defeat away at Colchester. Wellens has always said he's no interest in the boycott cup and I suspect he'll treat this with a similar wide berth and give some of the squad players some minutes.

Exeter in the league on Saturday has to take precedence.

We don't do cup games, so a 0-0 draw and penalties it is!

What sort of team are you likely to put out tonight? Lowe has given every signal that we will be fairly strong with few unforced changes from Saturday (we got at least one injury on Saturday).

Are games available on iFollow tonight? I know they cover the JPT and league games in the midweek to UK residents.

One or two changes but will be a strong side, we always take cup competitions seriously since we’ve had new owners.

Should have played them both while they were there on Saturday.

So, is the game available on iFollow for legitimate overseas users or not?

I've no explanation for my attendance later other than the mother in law boils my piss every Tuesday , so it gets me away from her tutting and belching.
Don't usually bother with the League cup otherwise.
Apparently Burton are playing a strong side but sneaking feeling we might win tonight and then as per Vale of recent years we will get a humdinger away at Reading in the next round
