@joncolman: Carlisle United staff are back in Brunton Park today, with their insurance assessors. "Devastating" damage has been inflicted by the floods. Fixtures and fittings, equipment, archives - all ruined. Olga the Fox's mascot outfit too. Feel desperately sorry for all involved. Media officer Andy Hall says staff are set to relocate temporarily to Pioneer Foodservice at Rosehill, with Portakabins on the way #cufc

If Preston could let us use their ground then that would be great!

I can't see us using Deepdale in all honesty, I'd prefer somewhere reasonably nearby like QoTS (though as already mentioned, unlikely).

Great support shown by several clubs/associations for the flood fund, very grateful.

According to a guy who is usually very "ITK" at North End has said it's not 100% confirmed but the clubs have spoken about it and it is a high possibility.

Hope we help Carlisle out here, our pitch is looking good for this time of year so no skin off our nose to have an extra game.

I may even attend the game depending on pricing.

With Virgin Trains sponsoring both clubs, and the likelihood of many United fans jumping on the train to attend a home match at Deepdale I'd be surprised, assuming it's true we've at least spoken to PNEFC, if VT weren't involved in those discussions and looking to put on some kind of football-special or ticket offer (in addition to the 25% ST holders already get).

I'd like Preston North End forever if they did this.

It would be much easier and quicker just jumping on the train with our 25% discount. Plus if the pitch is good that'll be a bonus compared to some of the venues being mentioned.

It's been confirmed now, the Notts County game will be played at Deepdale.

You'd have to have a pretty hard heart if you could offer PNE's ground for the match and didn't. Kudos to PNE for coming through for you. Also Sunderland sounds like a pretty good shout for our game on the 28th. I hope it happens.

Are things looking anywhere near better since the weekend?

All best wishes to Carlisle and everyone in Cumbria. To the rest of us it's a ten minute news story, whereas you folks are living it at the most difficult time of the year.
Would be refreshing if the rest of the country could actually rally round and do their bit for a home grown humanitarian crisis; but we don't seem to do a foreign aid type arrangement for our own.

In a sports sense, I'm hoping that it doesn't hinder Carlisle's decent season. All credit to PNE and their admirable contribution for a fellow club.

I'm not too keen on the idea of Sunderland for our match with you myself. Nothing against Hartlepool but I'd rather not make things too convenient for you... certainly not playing our home game against you in a ground you can get to faster than we can. I think we can make Notts at Deepdale feel like a home-away-from-home-game of sorts... but Sunderland would just feel to me like we were coming over onto your patch.

I can't see many clubs being in a hurry to host Carlisle v Hartlepool to be honest.

Would Carlisle fans prefer to play clownty at deepdale or just play when the ground is up and running?

Sounds like a terrible deal and I hope they do what They can

If I were Carlisle I'd play it at barrow or Workington and send county on a much longer trek

Regardless, it's an epic goodwill gesture by Preston - I remember nots county allowing us to play at Meadow lane for free in a league cup game in 2000 or so which was greatful appreciated - for a change we actually lost there

Workington is nowhere near League 2 standard and Barrow's ground has probably been blown away!

Not sure if there's any truth in it but seen on Facebook Carlisle may not play any games at BP until Feb?

Having been to barrows ground twice, you've cleansed your soul when you've lost

It doesn't matter where we play at against Hartlepool, we'd still hammer them nee problem!

Cheers mate, means a lot to me :)

Yes a massive favor your club is doing for us, we're very grateful!

Now I know that we see you as big local rivals but that has obviously been put aside for what has happened and with the great help your giving us, so I'm sure we'll do our best not to ruin your pitch with our League Two style football. Heh heh heh.

Maybe we'll win an away game if we think it's at a neutral venue.

Genuinely wouldn't surprise me having seen some of the pictures of the mud that's been left behind, the ground will all need relaying which will take ages. The whole bottom level has essentially been wiped out - the pitch, the offices, everything. Massive effort needed from everyone involved with the club to get us back to where we were beforehand :(

If i weren't on holiday over that weekend i'd of gone on to help give them some money to recover rather than get ripped off £37 at Leeds.

Yeah, I'm still going Leeds, only £25 for me as U22, I wouldn't have paid £37.

Considering the amount of money in English football, I hope Carlisle aren't left to fund and organise the repairs to their ground alone. If the ground floor level of the stadium is fucked and the pitch needs entirely relaying, then you're talking hundreds of thousands. I'm sure insurance will cover some costs? But there's probably going to be other costs that have to come out of the football club coffers.

Oxford United have announced that the proceeds from Saturdays 50/50 draw from our match will be donated to the CumbriaFloodAppeal. Top stuff! Got to thank them and Welling Utd for the donations and the other 3 clubs that have offered their help to us!

Along with Preston, I have heard that Newcastle Utd and Blackburn Rovers have also offered us to use their grounds for our up and coming home games.
