The Real Friends album isn't great.

On a 2nd run through and there's nothing really catchy or memorable. Massive backwards step, in my opinion.

The lyrics are awful, it's almost like they're regressing. Their early stuff was clever and well written. This stuff is just really cliche and contrived; feels fake and forced instead of honest. It's a shame because they have a really good set of musicians and a decent/fairly unique vocalist.

However, 'Mokena', 'Mess' and 'Basement Stairs' (the catchiest, and most like their earlier stuff) are the stand outs. Eastwick is a decent acoustic song too, to be fair.

Maybe it will all grow on me.

New Trash Boat album is very good.

Stand out songs are: 'Strangers', 'How Selfish I Seem', 'Catharsis' and 'Tring Quarry'.

Really liking this version

Agreed. Hoppus' voice suits that bridge perfectly.

Anybody been listening to new Moose Blood? Album drops tomorrow, what I've heard so far is excellent.

What happened to this thread?!?!

New NFG! Going to see them in September for the 20th anniversary tour. They're playing Sticks and Stones and Catalyst in full. Cannot wait.

Some other bands I've been getting into whilst I've been away are The Front Bottoms As It Is and The Menzingers!

Flashlight by The Front Bottoms has fast become one of my favourite songs.

One of those bands I've never got into and then I had Spotify on a pop punk playlist, their songs kept coming on and it changed my mind.

I'm like that with bands. I used to think bayside were awful, all of my friends loved them back in the mid 2000's but I didn't start likening them until 2008ish. Now they're one of my favourite bands.

Two bands I’ve gotten into recently:

Hot Mulligan - emo/pop-punk. Similar to Real Friends but with a strange twist. They have 2 vocalists (one frontman and another who plays guitar as well) and it is quite interesting as their voices complement each other really well. Their EP Opportunities is probably slightly better than their recon album, but both are very good.

Locals Only - energetic pop-punk. Can’t quite put my finger on who they sound like.

Going to see The Wonder Years tonight! Not been to a show for a very long time.

Just seen that they’re playing an acoustic and normal set as one of the support bands (Sorority Noise) have been dropped from the tour due to some recent allegations against their singer.

Really cannot wait to see them do an acoustic set in front of a big crowd!

Not a huge fan of the new Real Friends album. Couple of play songs on it but it really seems like all filler. There’s usually 2 or 3 songs on any album that are my go to tracks but there isn’t really any on this.

The new Between You and Me album is pretty good, though.

Didn't they basically 'copy' Neck Deep for their new video? All bright pinks and Yellows and stuff? Think that's the only bit of their new stuff I've heard tbh

Sort of similar but not exactly the same.

New Trash Boat album drops today and it is decent. Some weird sort of mid-2000s post hardcore vibes going on. Reminds me of the more melodic sides to Funeral for a Friend/Senses Fail sort of thing. Love the singers voice, too. Gets better with every release!

Also, The Story So Far finally decided to release news on their new album coming in September! They dropped a new song which is very Blink 182 self titled era sounding which I love!
