Universally detested outside their fan base?

I think it's more Barcelona tbh. Living abroad, pretty much everyone hates Barca and likes Madrid.

For this game though - everyone is routing for Liverpool though for 2 reasons;
1. Change
2. I'm in Slovakia - they all love Liverpool for some reason (I guess Skrtel?)

Eric Cantona (Ex-Man United): "Putting toothpaste back in a tube is difficult, but there is something much more difficult - getting a penalty against Real Madrid in the Champions League."

Just watched the full '05 Final again and man we were bloody awful. I had forgotten what a ramshackle side it was! Milan were probably better than this Real Madrid side too. It kind of gives me confidence though leading into this final, as this iteration of Liverpool is fucking amazing compared to that side.

Yes, mate. I think that in the last 20 years it's the final with the most difference between the two teams on the pitch, but Liverpool won it

It was heart that got them through the game that night, just hope we have a bit of that on Saturday!

No excuses, we are an excellent side, but they are the best around so to beat them will be an almighty task, almost as big as the task you lot face when you keep failing to beat us. ;)

Liverpool can beat Real Madrid but let's not forget that Real is the favourite team for tonight

Respect for a team that will do everything to triumph tonight. And for the fans. It's easy to be a fan of another team and criticize.

don't forget it.

Whatever happens tonight, I just wanted to say I couldn't be happier about the team or manager. I have loved every minute of this journey.

He's an Evertonian mate, he doesn't know what a final is. I believe since they last won something, only one team in the whole 92 teams in all the leagues have performed worse; everyone else has won something of note. Almost got to pity him tbh.

Had to watch that from an acute angle in a pub, so had to second guess most of it. Shouldn't Ramos have been sent off for 'doing' Salah. Although Liverpool were second best the Liverpool GK's mistakes certainly cost them. Possibly the worst GK performance I've ever seen in 58 years.

Ramos should be retrospectively punished. Once Salah went off Madrid started to press the ball and move higher up the pitch.

Karius and Lovren are awful. Karius can't catch a ball and isn't tall enough to command the area. Lovren... what's left to say? Two own goals in the semis, was at fault for the opener. Lovren doesn't have bad games, he has bad seasons.

The worst of it is we let Sakho (an infinitely better defender) go, to keep this clown.

Ramos just landed awkwardly on Salah's shoulder, no punishment required.

From where I was Ramos had hold of Salah's arm, ensuring that Salah couldn't use his arm to cushion his fall and Ramos's his full weight came down on it. Very calculated in my opinion. Would like to know what Salah's injury is?

I'd rather Liverpool went through as they're more likely to fail in the semi-finals or final imo.

Liverpool could be made to play a CL match behind closed doors as punishment for throwing a couple of bottles at a bus! Really? So forget all the racism and hooliganism plaguing Europe UEFA, but punish fully for something as relatively innocuous as that?

Still had a better season than you anyway, so jog on.
We finished 2nd and won fuck all. You finished 4th and won fuck all.

What's the point in getting to finals if you're incapable of winning them?

The journey and the stories, my friend, there have been some good times in the CL, playing some great stuff, and we had a shot at it. Don't think you lot could say that, I saw the scenes at the Sevilla home game, sitting there silently arms folded, ooof.

And lets be honest you lot finishing 2nd is only down to your keeper, you were the most boring runners-up maybe the PL has seen.

Man Utd fans are talking crap if they think they have enjoyed their season more than Liverpool.

As you can see by my earlier post I wanted Liverpool to beat City cos they were more likely to fail. You had a good run in the CL but it counts for nothing in the end. I've seen my club lose in 2 CL finals and know that you don't look back thinking "what a great run that was!", you look back with regret thinking how close you were to glory, to being the kings of Europe once more.

Ultimately both Liverpool and United both failed to win anything and United finished higher the league. We'll see what happens next season.

Your side was one of the best around at that time so you wouldn't think that when you thought you'd have a good shot at winning it. For us it was completely unexpected. No one thought we would get as far as we did, and in the knockout stages we went up a level playing some great stuff. Sure the final was a disappointment and the lack of depth really showed in the end, but we still would've been right in it had our keeper not decided to throw the ball in the net twice.

Not sure I regret it though, it was going to be a big ask to beat Real in the final, even had Salah played the whole game. It could've been glorious, but it wasn't to be. Hopefully with the depth we look to be adding now, we can try again next year.

I'm sure we'll both be more competitive in the league and CL though.

I had this chat with Bilo, he wasn't having it.

A bit like Liverpool and the Champions League trophy.
