If anyone is bored Shakhtar-Hoffenheim is very entertaining. The visitors just made it 2-1 late in the first half.

So far another poor night for the PR arm of a human rights abusing oil state.

Looks normal allocation to me, about 3k I think. The myth of Anfield atmosphere striked again, it was reallllllly quiet, even when they were winning. I've never understood the love in with regards to the atmosphere.

It definitely wasn't "reallllllly quiet" lol. Wasn't one of the louder ones but it's a first group game.

Twas a real cracker, followed by City getting gubbed at home in a half empty stadium. A good night of fitba.

Can't believe Ronaldo is evil and Pjanic is the one true king of Juventus.

Ok. I was out this evening so didn't watch the Lyon game but I'll admit that I thought they were gonna lose 6-0 so kudos to them. Looks like Laporte had shocker.

About Liverpool/PSG, despite the 5 goals, I was quite underwhelmed by the game overall. Was expecting a comple goalfest with defenders not able to cope with both attacks (Firmino not starting changed a lot in that respect). Liverpool played ok but we were just like we are when in a big European game. We do ok but can play so much better. Worst part of it is we never peaked. Our two goals were particularly good nor deserved and forced Liverpool to score a 3rd.
I have little doubt that both sides will progress to the KO stage without too much difficulty.

Aren't you upset with PSG's naive approach to last night? Jonathan Wilson wrote a pretty accusatory article in The Guardian about PSG on the whole.

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/sep/19/psg-liverpool-thomas-tuchel-football
Like I said, we've been served with this kind of performance year after year and knocked out by European giants for the past 5 years. Simply put, we never ever play out of our skin (except for the 4-0 home success vs Barca a couple of seasons back) in a big European night and last night was no different. Wilson's article is spot on as usual but it shows that he hasn't been watching us getting knocked out a lot over the past few seasons.
We are probably the most unprofessional club in the CL but given how the club is ran is no wonder. It's all about smiling to the right people and shaking the right hands. Who the manager is and what system he plays really isn't Qatar's problem. This club is a gigantic waste of time all said and done. I came to this conclusion 2 years ago so stopped getting upset at CL defeats. Plus you can't do worse that losing at the Nou Camp 6-1 after being a 4-0 up from the 1st leg.

Ronaldo really was quite upset ..

Was that because he will miss the Man U game or that a red card harmed his ego?

After all means Messi gets the chances to score a few goals whilst Ronny is banned .

Man City are the first English team to lose four consecutive Champions League matches in the history of the competition...

1-2 vs FC Basel

0-3 vs Liverpool

1-2 vs Liverpool

1-2 vs Lyon

I didn't see the United game but I've caught up with the highlights - looked comfortable. Pogba's goal was a great strike, more of that please.

Lol at City and requiescat in pace Silkyman.

That was really a very entertaining match between Hoffenheim and Donetsk. Tbh I wasn't very optimistic before the match but they've proved me wrong. Their first ever CL match and getting a draw at Donetsk is very respectable. Although a bit lucky in the end.

I understand that the most here are liking it that City lost (again) in the CL but for me it's the worst outcome of this match. Not that I like Pep or Man City but I think Lyon and Hoffenheim and Donetsk fighting for #2 spot and so the 3 pts for Lyon are not so good for Hoffenheim. And now they'll have to play City at home and believe me, Pep's team won't lose for a fifth time in a row in the CL

btw: Julian Nagelsmann is now the youngest coach in the history of the Champions League with 31.

Juventus played a big game at mestalla, in that contest could be very difficult in ten men.
Brych and his friend Fritz had a bad evening.

City for me remains one of the favourite team for the competition.

Naples can create problem to Liverpool and PSG.. very nice group

Having said that, Valencia look just about as shit as we do if their recent form is to be considered an accurate representation of their quality.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Hmm. When a referee who has officiated four straight defeats for City in the CL makes a decision like that, it really does make you wonder why City fans haven’t really warmed to the competition.

Boycotting a competition because you think the referees don't give you enough decisions is possibly the most City-esque thing you can do (topped only by changing your mind once you stop perennially underachieving in it).

Lyon losing 2-0. If City want someone to blame for being rubbish in Europe, they ought to look closer to home.
