Champions League Betting Preview
The UEFA Champions League is the best club football competition in the world. The finest teams, managers, and players in Europe compete for the famous trophy. This seasons final will take place at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul. The last time the UCL final was held here, Liverpool and AC Milan produced one of the greatest games of all time.
A handful of group matches have already taken place. There have been some shock results, and we suspect there will be plenty more over the next few months. If you’re an avid punter, stay here. We’ll review the latest bookmaker offers and UCL betting tips next.
Tournament Favourites
Man City - The Citizens are the clear favourites with most online bookies. Despite never winning the trophy before, it’s easy to see why. Pep Guardiola has one of the strongest teams in the world at his disposal. Their attack is formidable with Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, and Bernardo Silva leading the line. They score tons of goals.
However, City are lacking some numbers at the back. John Stones and Aymeric Laporte are sidelined with long-term injuries. This could be detrimental to the team in the latter stages of the competition. We’re still expecting Man City to make it to the final. This could be the year that they finally get their hands on the cup.
Barcelona - Lots of leading bookmakers make Barcelona the second favourites. They certainly have the talent, but they haven’t been at their best for the last few seasons. Having said that, Leo Messi can do serious damage to the rest of the competition. The Argentine forward can single-handedly win games.
Barcelona’s chances of winning the trophy for the sixth time will improve if players like Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann start hitting the back of the net regularly. It would be foolish to rule Barça out at this early stage. They have one of the most talented teams on the planet.
Liverpool - Can the current holders reach their third final in a row? We wouldn’t rule it out. Jurgen Klopp’s men are strong in every department. They’re solid at the back with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip. We all know how formidable Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberton Firmino can be at the top of the pitch.
The Reds made a rocky start in Naples, but we think they can bounce back. They will be desperate to return to the arena where they lifted the trophy in 2005. If they can make it to the final, they have every chance of winning.
Juventus - It’s mind-boggling to think that Juve haven’t won the Champions League since 1996. However, they could turn their fortunes around this season. Juventus have players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Aaron Ramsey, and Gonzalo Higuain in their ranks. They’re capable of beating anyone on their day.
We are excited to see how their season unfolds. The Old Lady have struggled in recent years, but this could be their time to shine. Rule them out at your peril.
