Missed the game today but impressive result from us. 2-0 in a total dead rubber, easy to just get in a mindset but this group of players have been so impressive, great mentality and always giving there best effort - not sure we can ask anymore of them as fans.

So pleased for Harry Cornick as well to score a goal this season too, hes deserved a few more.

I knew that a club's parachute payments stopped if they gain promotion but only learned today that the money the Premier League "saves" in these cases is split between the 20 Premier League clubs instead of being filtered down the pyramid. Obviously not really surprised - it'd be very off-brand for the Prem to do something selfless - but it's so very wrong. As if Prem sides don't have a large enough slice of the pie to begin with. Especially galling considering all the posturing over the Super League. Surprised they didn't/don't get called out on that. I'm all for outing the "greedy 6" and giving them shit but the rest of us deserve it too. Appalling.


On the topic of parachute payments, I think next season will have the fewest clubs receiving them in just over a decade. So, maybe, a good time for non-parachute payment clubs to take advantage?
By my count, it'll be 4 or 5: the three relegated sides - Sheff Utd (first of 3 years), and likely West Brom/Fulham (both first of 2 years), Huddersfield (final year) and, if they don't win play-offs, Bournemouth (second of 3 years).

Nope, they changed the rules last year. It used to come back to the Championship.

I thought the same which is why I was taken aback when I read today it was shared by the 20 Prem clubs. Thanks to Kenneth E End I now understand it was a recent change which is probably why I didn’t know.

Toney, Pukki and Buendia the three nominees for Championship Player of the Season, while it's Aarons, Olise and Elliot competing for Young Player of the Season.

Player of the Season should be Buendia without question, but I'm almost certain Toney will get it for his goals as it's the easy and lazy choice for people to make.

It's actually the other way round, the player of the season is not the top scorer more often than not. They get lazier as they go down the leagues though, I'll give you that...

5 of the last 15 Championship players of the season were also top scorer.
7 of the last 15 League One players of the season were also top scorer.
8 of the last 15 League Two players of the season were also top scorer.

I understand why you feel that though because recency bias is strong. In 2019 and 2020 the top scorers swept all divisions.

Championship manager of the season has done the reverse. 1999-2015, the title-winning manager won it in all but 2 years - in 2002 Megson (West Brom) beat out Keegan (Man City) and in 2011 Lambert (Norwich) beat out Warnock (QPR). Since then, only 2 of 5 title-winning managers won it. Dyche (Burnley) in 2016 and Benitez (Newcastle) in 2017 both lost out to Hughton (Brighton) and Farke (Norwich) lost out to Wilder (Sheff Utd) in 2019. Can see him missing out again this year too - wouldn't be surprised (nor would I think it was undeserved) if Ismael got it. Seems harsh on Farke to have (possibly) overseen two title-winning campaigns and not won it either time but Ismael has done a remarkable job - Barnsley barely survived last season and were 22nd this season when he came in. (Still think the Wilder decision in 2019 was bullshit though - if he'd taken them straight through the league like Lambert did then I'd say fair enough but they were comfortably midtable in 2018. 14th -> 1st is more impressive than 10th -> 2nd. Farke should have got it that season.)

As none of ours apart from Sarr would get in but voted for now more might.

I'm sure a lot of people will say it should be the Barnsley manager instead of Farke, but I think he deserves it this time after being passed up for Manager of the Month every time and for not getting Manager of the Season last time we won the title.

I feel like Morrison is a bit of an odd pick too. But then again I think this gets voted on around the time that Cardiff were having that long winning run after Mick came in so that may explain it. Sirrealta for Watford should be there for me.

I feel like there is a better left backs out there than Masina too but right at this moment I can’t think of one! If you wanted to break up the Norwich dominance of the team then I think Conor Robert’s is worth a shout at right back but Aaron’s has also been great so - no complaints really. Norwich deserve to dominate this team.

Having said that Ismael should be the manager of the year as well. Farke is obviously great but what Ismael has done is far more impressive to me given relative resources and where each club was expected to be.

Agree on Sierralta but maybe he is that unknown.

But again he only got in the team regularly after Munoz came in.

I mean most pundits only really know Sarr and Deeney in our squad.

Preston North End are challenging the English Football League’s decision to secure a £117.5 million funding package with the investment arm of the New York-based insurance giant MetLife Inc, a move they argue could have serious implications for clubs at all levels of the EFL if a Championship side defaults on repaying their segment of the loan.

Preston believe that those teams who have no intention of calling upon the MetLife facility could now end up suffering as a result of the reckless spending of rival Championship clubs who take up the offer of the loan but still default on repayments, with the way the package was agreed deemed unfair and unreasonable.

From what I gather, if a club like Derby default on the payments, it's up to the rest of the teams to cover for them. Although don't quote that as gospel.

It is insanity that the EFL have signed up to this on those terms... that said, investment houses want to lend and if there is a delinquency or the terms need to change, banks are happy to help more often than not. Yes there is a lot of financial spunking going on, but the EFL I’d say would still be a good credit. Entities paying back on time and early are not profitable for them.

Think that was for this season helping with the NHS and vulnerable people at home .

This club is going down like the Hindenburg. Got a bad feeling about this guy.
He just needs to do keepy uppies on the pitch at half time, a la Michael Knighton to confirm he is a wrong un.
I think derby will drop, not due to on the pitch but because of off it.
