I doubt there's been a bigger shift in circumstance in British football than Cardiff away. The new ground is everything that Ninian wasn't, as a kid going to Cardiff away was a proper badge of honour, real test of your mettle. We went there last year, people walking round in away colours, local pubs housing away fans tolerating them singing etc, 'lads' (wankers) giving it the biggun in the ground....unheard of. For my circumstance I'm happy with the current situation, we had a brilliant day with the kids last year, having a tot with the Welshies and the kids playing football with the mini-Welshies, great day.

The traditionalist in me on the other hand yearns to run the gauntlet, get back to Brum and tell the tales of another crazy day south of the border.....
Know exactly what you mean. We're into a different era now though,it seems.

Are Birmingham still having fire drills at home?

He spends most of his time posting in the non league section trying to wind up Wrexham and Tranmere fans for some reason.
Preparing himself for in a years time when Crewe will be getting ready to join us all down there.

Won't be happenin',my fishy friend.
Like I've already said elsewhere: We're Crewe Alexandra-we don't do non-league.

Well your followings are non league standard, so maybe not long before your team is too?

£32 for Middlesbrough away midweek... Wow.

Not so confident on 200 now...

No chance of 200 going up there. Be surprised if 150 go. Could be the lowest away attendance in a Championship league fixture this season.

What on earth is this Crewe fan doing on here talking about running teams and commenting on followings. You're Crewe. The most active I've ever seen Crewe was about 10 spotty 16 year old kids giving it Billy big licks in that stand that's 4 rows deep. You don't travel anywhere in the country including Vale. So your opinion and bombastic aggression just makes you look stupid.

Back on topic, home sellout vs Leeds which was always inevitable and they've sold their reduced 2,200 allocation on SYP advice one can only assume?

Hoping for at least 1,500+ for MK Dons a week on Saturday but our followings have been very poor at times this season so who knows. WIll end up with around 900/950 average.

Be surprised if you hit 1,500 for MK fella, you've only managed that three times this season and none of those trips were longer than 50 miles.

Hmmm, perhaps, but that's a very easy statement to make. Not sure why we took so few to you, but we've been horrendous away this season up until late and the fixtures haven't fallen kindly to us so far, for example Hudds and Blackburn on Tuesday nights which we'd have taken more to both (though think we still took 1,700 to Hudds?).

It might be a bit further distance wise, but Rotherham to MK Dons is a straight forward enough journey down the M1, I know of a few pub that have sold out 4 or 5 coaches aready, the buzz is gradually coming back around the place and I think if we beat Leeds we'd comfortably surpass that.

I may be wrong as we've had less than I thought at Derby and Forest, more than expected at QPR and a woeful show at Ipswich, so we're a bit all over the place.

I never said you were....

I'm first to come on here if we take a sh#te following. To yourselves, Ipswich and Birmingham (and probably more) we certainly have done. Prior to Warnock though, it wasn't remotely fun going to games knowing Redfearn seemed content with 1-0 defeats.

I remember Toytown bringing only 8 or 900 down to GR for an FA Cup 4th round game at a time when the FA Cup still attracted decent gates.
I also recollect a Toytown following of about 40 at Chester in '88.I was there as a neutral.

Charlton at the weekend has sold out for us, 3,100 I think was the final allocation. I've always drank in London Bridge for Charlton but having the lad with me (half term) I'm gonna get into Charlton fairly early for a drink instead, I've read of a pub called "The Pickwick" which seems away/kid friendly, anyone ever been there?

Ive must have seen around 10 matches against your lot at home since following the millers and not once have your brought anything close to 900 and one of those was a fa cup match in 2002 in the round before the quarters when you beat us. Every time we go to your place we take a steady 600 plus, filled the ice cream van stand the last time out (1400) you didn't even manage 600 to your first visit to NYS and struggle to take 1400 to your nearest rivals Port Vale. Don't believe the 40 figure to Chester in 88 one bit, i was born that year so obviously i wasn't there but we had a better following in those days and Chester ain't that far so i know that ain't true.

Haha, just ignore him.

He's still bitter from when we beat them 8-1 at their place in the seventies. They've always been lucky to be in the league. Had it not been for the Grady years, they'd be in the Conference with Macclesfield.

As you say, the only time they've brought over 1,000 was the FA Cup game, where Dean Ashton scored from about 35 yards and so did either Brammer or Lunt.

The Pickwick is usually fine mate, bit of a dive but as you say has always been away friendly with a big garden and with a slide and swing for the kids.

The Rose of Denmark is decent enough aswell, not as big as the Pickwick and generally more busy.

Your following these days dwarfs the numbers that you took away in 87-88,trust me.
I recall about 25 Toytown stood on Chesters kop and a handful in the seats.Check your average gate that season.

Everyone's gates were down in the late eighties and early nineties. Even the top, top clubs.

I recall a game I attended as a neutral at Doncaster and there were 6 Crewe fans on the Belle Vue terrace and a dog on the benches.

The 6 were probably the Donny fans and the dog was probably Miss Armthorpe Miners Welfare runner-up for that year.
Rovers have known some very poor crowds at times in their history.

Yeah we'll be fine getting there cheers. Like I say I've been Charlton plenty of times but have only ever drank in London Bridge, there have been times where it's gotten a bit fruity around there so I thought we'd skip that having the kids in tow and look a bit closer to the ground :)

Isn't that Soho?

Seriously though London Bridge is fine especially as Millwall are away and the stripeys should be in East London, though that could be fun with Wall at Colchester
