It's your cup final, we don't give a toss about you
You might not but there are plenty of Rovers fans who do very much give a toss. It's one of the oldest matches in the world. Been played over 100 times, just because it's been a while and you've all got ideas above your station doesn't mean it's not a derby.

The fact that we've played each other twice competitively in my lifetime means I've never seen it as a derby - and therefore why I go to Deepdale a few times a season.

We've played twice competitively this season. When did you drop out your Mum, nine months ago?

Ok. So when you said it wasn't a derby, you meant you're only 15 and hadn't seem us play very often then?
What I said what it wasn't a derby - and that is my opinion - based off the fact that I have hardly seen us play each other meaningfully and we've been at least one division above you.

Ok mate, but that really doesn't have anything to do with a game being a derby or not.

That's like saying Bristol City and Bristol Rovers isn't a derby cos they've barely played each other in recent years, but Arsenal v Newcastle is cos they play each other all the time.

There's 15-20 miles between Birmingham and Coventry and it has never really felt like a derby match. They have a one-way rivalry with Villa though.

In my opinion Blackburn v Preston isn't a derby but to other fans it could be a main rivalry, it's based off personal experience. And my personal experience is that Nobbers are massively bitter and see us as a huge game. Even heard someone on the train after the game say that the win today was bigger than the play-off final

Local games are all derbies of a fash
ion, but don't always have the same passion and hatred as your main derby. Imagine for you its Burnley, for us its Blades, no other game comes remotely close, but that doesn't mean Leeds, Barnsley,Rotherham etc aren't derbies, they are just alot less important. Just under 4k Owls today I'm guessing, sure the 'real Walkley' can confirm numbers.

I'm calling bollocks.

and for what it's worth, hardly any Preston fans I know consider you a huge game, it's generally only people in the South Ribble/ Chorley area who consider this a big rivalry. It's Blackpool, followed by Burnley for me. Not really assed about anyone else.

Plus you're shit now and in loads of debt, nothing to be bitter about really...

They were pissed off their head like, wouldn't expect they'd say it sober.

I would say it's a bit different when a city has more than one club like in Birmingham or Sheffield, that rivalry is always going to be so much above anything else even if other town/cities are geographically close by.

There are no two team cities in Lancashire so games between Blackpool/Burnley/Blackburn/Preston are all derby games, even though the main ones will always be Blackpool v Preston and Burnley v Blackburn.

Yeh,Luton could never have worn that Cov strip...they'd have been the brown Hatters.
Brighton might have got away with it though.

Yep,the shitness of Leeds goes on...and on.
Potentially a top,top club but have been mediocre at best for years now.
Seriously under-performing as a club.
Everything's in place for them-ground,potential support-hard to see why they can't do better than they do.

Just me that thinks that's poor?

Nonsense. Especially how tits up our season has gone.....again.

I can't be arsed to check back through this thread but I would suggest it's one of the biggest away followings there this season. I would assume only Leeds beat it and Bristol City surely.

Nothing wrong with that following.

We only took 944 for a number of reasons.

Derbies are generally mostly one-way anyway. We hate QPR but they don't give a shit about us.

Same with Aldershot; they absolutely detest us, but they're just a new club to us.

Think there's a lot of confusion between rivalries and derbies in this thread.
Exactly.
As I've tried to explain on a few occasions: A derby is a game between two teams who aren't very far apart.Simple as that.
Whether they've never met before or have been kicking lumps out of one another for 125 years doesn't have any bearing on whether it's a derby or not.
A rivalry is usually a derby but sometimes not.Example: Real Madrid v Barcelona or Swindon v Gillingham.

Why do you hate QPR? 'Cos they wear the same shirts?
And anyway,your main rivals are Swindon,Oxford and.Shots aren't they?

I personally detest QPR, but not at the same level as any of those 3. Shirts is part of it, but we've been at a similar level for a long time, and they are one of the three or four nearest professional clubs to us.

The problem we've got is that we never play our rivals so we have to create temporary/one-way ones, like QPR.. And then because we've been in different leagues from Swindon/Oxford for so long now, and they've both been at a similar level, they've got more heated with each other and left us alone. Would be nice if one of them could come up to the Champ for a season, just so we get a game which actually has something extra about it. So boring going year in, year out, without.
