i thought it was strange a Geordie playing down their support. Near sell out again weren't it as there was nearly 3k empty seats in the away end. Those free tickets you give away are working wonders for you

Don't hate us 'cause we charge less than half the teams in the division. Could work wonders for your lot.
Oh and in all fairness to Reading, they did only take half the allocation but London to Newcastle on a weeknight is a fair old slog.

Fair play to you, tickets should be cheap. We are not too expensive tbf. Yeah I think that was a decent following by reading as they are not well supported really. About three years ago they had 250 at our place for a relegation battle, it was on a Monday night but still it was a poor showing.

Our atmosphere has been shocking for years, that's why this Gallowgate flags initiative has attempted to get involved. Comes with losing week in week out in all fairness - can't remember the last time we had anything to actually cheer about.

The famous st james atmosphere died years ago, but what I will say is Newcastle have been poor for a bit and majority of home grounds are quiet. The last few years villa park has been terrible apart from the odd game here and there but this season it has been good so far and we have been getting good crowds. Sometimes the bigger the ground the harder it is to get a good atmosphere going.

Home fans seem lazy especially at Hillsborough, always rely on someone else to get the atmosphere going and I think a lot of the problem with us is having the band, people just wait for them to start parping their trumpets.

Definitely. Same at all grounds.

Away fans are on the drink from the time they wake up whereas the vast majority of home fans come straight from home, have one or two pints pre match, have their bovril during it and then head straight home.

It's hardly a recipe for going nuts and screaming your head off is it.
