Didn't Boro have the second highest average last season?

Yep, they also had a chance of automatic promotion most of the season, we've been out of the top flight for 15 years and rarely average sub 2k, consistency from us.

The likes of Man Utd, Liverpool etc are comfortably better than both Leeds and Wednesday and certainly Boro.

Agreed my point was more about the FL than the full 92 however the best following anyone will take this year regardless of leagues, position, club size or owt is the 169 Carlisle at Plymouth Tuesday.

Fair mentions to Yeovil at York too....

Must be tough never dropping out of the top 6, playing in Europe every year and having millions of 'fans' across the country.

In terms of noise, they're both utter wank unless they're winning.

Couldn't agree more about Carlisle.

Don't disagree with any of that however, the basis on which Bet365 were asking if Middlesbrough have the best away fans is the size of their followings.

Carlisle seem to have a core of 150 who will go absolutely fucking anywhere, at any time, under whatever conditions.

On that basis, i'd throw Everton in the hat, considering they sell out everywhere and haven't done anything in the league for 30 years.

Yes we have only managed to average 3122 fans in a 3300 capacity end in our three visits since you went down for a team that in its 11th year out of the top flight im in awe of both of their supports.

Everton didn't come anywhere near selling out Southampton on Saturday they took 2500

Why do Leeds fans get so touchy over this?

I haven't doubted Leeds' excellent away support, the point I was making is if the amount of numbers you take away makes you the best away supporters (in England btw) then surely it's one of the prem sides. If, like Walkley we are talking about the FL then obviously Leeds top the pile.

Who would ever be sad enough to be in awe of someone else's away support anyway?

Which for a 230 odd mile journey to a lunchtime KO that's on the box is pretty good.

it would have been if it was Middlesbrough, it seems

amazing plastic support them

2 years ago they averaged about 1k iirc, funny how a bit of exciting team building does to you

anyway regardless of anything else the best away fans are the fans that have had to endure shite for years, to me Middlesbrough are nowhere near the best

i'd say Leeds, Wednesday, Forest, Wolves

thats maybe not the best order in terms of numbers but it's purely down to taking consistent followings despite seeing no joy, Wolves are 4th because of their recent PL days, Derby in there too somewhere but again had recent success compared to the other 3

purely FL too before people mention Everton etc

Agree with all of the above

Boro take the biscuit in 'bigging' themselves up.

Considering Leeds have fans in pretty much every town and city in the country, their away attendances don't really wow me.

I'd say Wolves' numbers are more impressive in relation to fanbase/ size of the city etc.

Of course it's impossible to know where fans are travelling from though, for all I know there are a couple of thousand Wolves fans in London, regularly attending the southern games.

As ive said before our away support is members only so never goes to general sale, we have 40000 members so every single club in the country has a bigger pool of people to pick from than us, there are only two clubs in the country that never have general sale and that's Leeds and Man Utd. if we had the option of general sale we would sell out every away game.
