It seems SWFC do need the money after all as they've increased Newcastle's allocation from 2,300 to 3,100.
Or rather we've convinced SYP.....

Not sure how we have done it, but it seems we have convinced SYP to open up the bottom tier to Owls fans. Don't know how many they're letting go in there, probably only 1k but I'm still amazed SYP are allowing it at all. Don't expect any trouble but still amazed it is being allowed. Great idea, something I have wanted for a long time for the big games, just not sure we will fill it for this game with it being on Sky. Would much rather have Owls fans in there than away fans, but also like to see a full ground, if that means putting Newcastle in the bottom I would do. However I'm hoping this means sales are going well in other areas and the club are expecting a full ground despite the Sky cameras.

Apparently Sheffield Wednesday are getting a reduced allocation at Barnsley due to the behaviour of some of our fans and Leeds fans when we played there.

Sold 1,200 for Newcastle on Saturday. Considering our situation and St James Park not being a novelty ground for us unlike most teams in the league, I'd say that's quite respectable.

We got 4,700 cos there was a bit of pointing between the fans at the Leeds game, that said we've gone from nearly 8k to 5k at Oakwell cos of the plod.

Think ours will drop to about 1,400 with Newcastle being moved to a Monday night and on Sky, can't imagine we will take too many to Leeds at £40 a pop. Should easily sell the 1,900 at Huddersfield and probably 800-1000 at Wolves unless we're in the play-off hunt on the final day (doubtful).

Seems we've become an 'away club' in recent years. Fans that much prefer a bit of mischief and a few beers in a different town.

While our away support is respectable, our home support nowadays is shite. It's currently about the same as when we were in league one, which is disappointing considering the on-field progress we've made.

The club needs to do more to try and re-ignite the fire in the folk of Prestons belly; because even having a very good team isn't enough anymore.

It doesn't help that the powers that be have the creative nouse of an empty snails shell.

Just seems like pure laziness from PNE to me.

I'm not saying give away £200 season tickets like Blackburn but some sort of scheme like Rochdale which sees the price come down whenever a certain amount of season tickets gets sold would generate some more interest. Announcing season tickets earlier like every other fucking club wouldn't go a miss either.

Specific, value-for-money pricing for families, partnering up with the university to encourage students to attend, a cheap ticket day now and then when we play someone like Brentford or Ipswich and the crowd is going to be wank.

Efforts to open up the Kop to home fans when we're playing clubs who will bring less than 2k would be good, the atmosphere was miles better when we had fans behind both goals.

Instead, nothing, but a minor price increase each season.

Yeah we are taking as many to home games now as we did in League 1, but in League 1 we had a much better atmosphere. We have moved our family stand to behind the goal (years ago now, when Flav and co owned us) and our atmosphere has been shit since. I know most clubs say their home support is shit, but ours really is now which is a shame as we are so close to the pitch, we should be having LR as a fortress.

Well we did chuck bear around at half time and when they stopped serving us a large group of our fans decided to break into the alcohol bar and stealing all of it...

Didn't deserve to win. Was a fair result.

Still. Older, bigger, better

You'll always be older , more than likely always be bigger but I'd happily take a bet it won't take us spending 40million to be as good as you.

We will never know, as you will never be as good as us . I thought we did deserve to win, we should have made it 2-0 after the goal when we were on top (would like to see the disallowed goal again) and although Barnsley huffed and puffed, I never really thought they would score (obviously I was wrong!). Hope we don't have to hear the usual drivel from the Barnsley fans about how they battered us and how lucky we were. Thought our full allocation was 4.7k (don't want to go all Firthy) but it did look more than that from where I was sat.

Also will take a bet on this for whatever amount you want that we will be as good as you and will be better than you at some point?

Fox and Winnall in January off the top of my head, didn't you sign Wiggins for £1m last year as well?

Not saying it amounts to £40m mind.

I thought a draw was the absolute least we deserved. We didn't batter you but were the better side and should have won it at the end. You scored from our keeper trying to shepherd the ball out with your first shot on target ffs.

Anyway. Thought both sets of fans could've been better today. Good turnout but the atmosphere nowhere near as good as it's been in previous games between us.
