I'm going on my own to QPR on Saturday. It's probably weird but I don't give a shit. Neither should any other fan going to support their team. I just find it fascinating how so many others do it, none more so (in this division anyway) than with Leeds.

Nice about- face mate. A revisionist if I ever saw one.You never mentioned you were one of those weirdos in your original post. Aimed clearly at Leeds fans loyalty.

Leeds fans are no more loyal than any other, you just happen to have more fans than most so take bigger numbers, the same way that all bigger clubs do.

Never said we were. The point made by Modmin was that we more weird for the same loyalty that many football fans show.

Just watch it in the pub.
Nah, we're going up on the Saturday and doing the Saturday night out in Leeds and then the Sunday.

I'm not too annoyed about the time of the game, I would've been if it was 12pm as it would've been a struggle making the game from the hotel.

Before East stand was build we was in terrace in front of a really old stand, Lowfields I think it was called.
I can remember us filling all terrace and stand in promotion season in 80s, we was robbed of a win when Andy Richie punched ball into net from a cross seen by everyone in ground except ref and linesman.

Didn't go but remember it well, watched it on Match of the day in the days before it became solely PL.
Those 2 points cost us the Title that year.

Good night out Leeds. If you're already there then may as well have an afternoon sesh in Leeds before game. Don't get lost in Beeston on your way to ER, would hate for something to happen to you...

When I was younger I didn't miss a game for 4 seasons. I was self employed and living at home so had plenty of spare cash which I chose to spend on getting pissed with my mates and watching some really shit football. I don't see what's weird about that.

And then you won a Nintendo Switch, and everything changed.

Its weird that it's a way of life and so important for some people to attend every single away game their club plays in no matter how mundane, and how much the cost. Leeds for some reason have more of these dedicated weirdos than nearly everyone else. Fascinating (not really).

Fuck off Katrien Meire you slag.

Nothing weird about football fans.

Never done a night out in Leeds before, have done days out but not a night so looking forward to it. Will go out on the Sunday also, may as well given we'll have to be out of the hotel by midday anyway. Booked the monday off work so will be celebrating hopefully if we get a result.

Late teens up until Iate 20s, loads of aways. Time of work, spending wages etc etc. 3 kids later and a mortgage, and things become different. Times have changed now too. Not only is life so much more expensive, footy included, you just can't work all week, then fuck off to the football all weekend anymore. you just can't get away with it.

Bigger the fanbase, the potential for bigger away support. Leeds probably top 5 biggest fan bases in the country? I'd say so.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, United, City. There's 5 straight away, top 5 in the country? You're joking me, they've been getting 20k at home the last few years...

Liverpool, united ,arsenal definitely. City no fucking chance. Population of Leeds is over 700k. They also are very well supported in large towns throughout Yorkshire. Then going by my experience they have more fans scattered over the uk than arsenal city and Chelsea. Where I live which is 100 mile from Leeds, if you take out villa wolves Liverpool and united, they are the best supported club. There are quite a few Leeds fans in my area. Hardly any arsenal, hardly any city, a few Chelsea, a few Spurs. Their home crowds for a club with the fanbase that they have, are the worst in the country, imo. Look at all the flags at games, they are from all over the country. They have loads of fairweather fans who never go.

On a wind-up aren't you? You don't think Manchester City or Chelsea now have a bigger fanbase in his country than Leeds? Leeds have their city to themselves, but it's not like Newcastle where there are few that support any of the big clubs, you even see Man Utd shirts about in Leeds now.

All of the Premier League big six have huge fanbases all across the country, I'm not saying they're fans who regularly attend games but as proven by Leeds' home gates neither are theirs.

I'd argue no to Arsenal as well, it's like saying West Ham as well cos they get loads more at a new stadium.

Leeds aren't actually well supported locally they picked up a load nationally in the 60/70s which has continued hence their impressive away numbers everywhere.

For me the top four would be United, Liverpool, Everton, Leeds then a n other from Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, City.

I think the above clubs wouldn't get the gates Leeds have over the last 13 years outside the PL.

So you think that if Arsenal got relegated next season in the 2028/29 season they'd be averaging 20k home fans over the course of the season?

Football's changed, Arsenal are a huge brand in this country, as are City. More kids support big clubs than their local teams nowadays, there were more Liverpool fans at my school than City fans (admittedly I live in Gas territory, but it's about a 50/50 split now generally).

Depends doesn't it not? Arsenal fans are absolutely fickle and their ground is full of tourists, as you'd see if you go around London on an away day and they are at home, look at the ground on non 'premium' games, it's closer to 40-45k than the 60k stated, imagine they'd keep the numbers if they went down and were mid table for 10 years or so?

Cos I can't.

When I was growing up there was a few Liverpool fans at school, though they got battered for it, then in secondary school you had your Mancs popping up and the odd Gooner, still don't see many other shirts in Sheffield though.

Leeds obviously have a huge fan base but hard to say how big it is really. I'm leaning towards JJH's argument tbh, I'd be surprised if they have a bigger national fan base than the likes of Spurs, Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle nowadays. There aren't many kids wanting to grow up to become a Stuart Dallas in this day and age. If they get promoted and become part of the "Global brand" then there's no reason why they can't get back to their hayday heights.

I don't really think it does. The Premier League is so much bigger than old Division One was, both in England and worldwide so I think that Leeds just missed out on becoming an Arsenal or a Chelsea. With cheaper prices in this division I think there's not a chance the Emirates would ever be a third empty for any fixture.

Clubs like us, Birmingham, Cardiff etc get 20k at home most weeks now, you really think they'd stoop to our level given 10 years with the national fanbase they have, let alone what they do in London?

Tbf, I think some clubs would get better home crowds than Leeds if they were down here for years. We averaged 32k last season, and that's more than Leeds have ever averaged in the lower leagues. Still stand by it though. Top 5, Man Utd, Liverpool , Leeds, Everton, Spurs probably ahead of arsenal.

Man Utd and Liverpool then the gap is huge to anyone else. Really not a lot in it with the other clubs you mention. Arsenal, spurs,Everton, Leeds. Maybe Chelsea in that category these days but man city, absolutely fucking no chance, villa are bigger than city.

Historically we are. Our away support is better I'd say. City were well supported in the lower leagues tbf.

2 consecutive nights out on the ale. God, I wish I was a teenager again.

Takes me about a week to recover from a night out nowadays.

Heddlu taking the piss again. When Cardiff come over it's on a Saturday, they run trains and they can have up to 3,600. We go over there we get 1,400, they don't run trains and it's a Sunday 12pm.

Beyond belief, might just watch it at the beamback tbh.
